Today, any car, including the Kia Sid, that uses fuel technology, cannot do without such a part as a fuel tank. Its presence allows for a short-term reserve of autonomy. Structurally, the gas tank is a sealed product that does not allow fuel to spontaneously leak out.

According to established tradition, the vast majority of manufacturers install tanks in their passenger cars in the rear seat row area. This arrangement is dictated by the desire of the developers to protect this part from serious damage in the event of an accident.

How many liters is the tank? Regarding the practical Kia Sid, we note that the volume of usable space expected to accommodate fuel in the tank, according to the manufacturer’s officially stated information, is 53 liters. This indicator allows the car to plow open roads, covering a distance of over 500 km without the need to refuel with a new portion of fuel.

During the experiments, the owners of this model came to the conclusion that as much as 65 liters can be forcibly “pumped” into the Kia Sid tank. This is the fuel volume that fits, what is called “under the neck”, and not until the effect of “shooting” the refueling nozzle appears.

The fuel tank in the “Korean” we are considering is secured using tape-type clamps. The design uses special heat-insulating inserts that prevent heating of the fuel and its subsequent expansion under the influence of high external temperatures.

Fuel tank

The material for the production of a tank for a KIA Ceed car can be not only steel, but also aluminum or even plastic. In modern cars, it is the last of the three designated material options that is gaining confident popularity. Possessing fluidity, hot plastic can take any shape during production, which is convenient when using the space to install the product on the body. This explains the increase in tank volume of modern cars in comparison with models produced 2-3 decades ago. Also, this material is not subject to corrosion, which significantly increases its resource intensity.

Metal products contain welds. Each model from any manufacturer, and often modifications related to one model line, have a fuel tank that has an individual shape and unique dimensional parameters. The desire for rationalization in the use of spare space for installation forces us to lean towards this method.

Refueling

The tank is filled with fuel through its neck. Usually it is located on one of the sides of the car (in the rear fender), as indicated by a special hatch. Between the neck and the tank there is an intermediate element - a filling pipe. The capacity of the neck and pipe must ensure the passage of fuel at a flow rate of at least 50 liters per minute. Having completed the filling procedure, the neck is closed with a standard screw cap.

Let's return to the maximum amount of fuel that the owners managed to fit into the standard KIA Ceed tank. Let us remember that its value exceeded the 60-liter barrier.

If we take this moment scrupulously, the situation is like this:

  • the volume of the fuel tank, as we found out, is 53 liters;
  • up to 3 liters can accumulate in the reserve compartment;
  • The neck can hold at least 8 liters.

The KIA Ceed SW attracts with its athletic, sporty appearance, as well as a set of smart systems and assistants. The car offers a spacious luggage compartment and an incredibly spacious interior, which will be comfortable for both the driver and passengers even on a long trip.

Technical characteristics of KIA Sid 3 station wagon

The station wagon is slightly larger than the hatchback, but this does not prevent it from masterfully maneuvering and parking without problems. The length of the body reaches 4600 mm, width - 1800 mm, height - 1475 mm. Thanks to these dimensions, the car is stable on any surface and confidently takes turns.

The trunk volume of the KIA Ceed SW 2018-2019 is 625 liters. According to this indicator, the station wagon is among the top leaders in its class. The dimensions of the trunk allow you to thoroughly prepare for the trip: you will not leave suitcases with clothes, a stroller for your baby, or sports equipment at home.

The ground clearance of the KIA Sid SV is 150 mm. This is a classic indicator for the city. This ground clearance makes it easy to overcome low curbs and artificial bumps. The model will not let you down even on rough terrain full of surprises.

The weight of the station wagon is from 1800 to 1880 kg. The maximum load capacity reaches 1325-1429 kg.

The volume of the fuel tank is 50 liters.

The Seed SW is equipped with three petrol units with a volume of 1.4 or 1.6 liters and a capacity of 100 to 140 horsepower. There are three transmissions to choose from: manual transmission-6, automatic transmission-6 with torque converter and 7-speed robot.

Maximum speed - 205 km/h. Fuel consumption - from 6.1 to 7.3 liters per 100 km (mixed mode).

Basic equipment

Initial version Classic equipped with heated exterior mirrors, air conditioning and 15” wheels. The standard equipment also includes front and side airbags, ABS, HAC, BAS, TPMS, a multifunctional steering wheel, an audio system with phone connectors, and Bluetooth.

Innovation and functionality

  • Thanks to the electrically heated windshield, you will get rid of ice in a couple of seconds. And no scrapers needed!
  • The navigation system supports voice control, and maps are updated free of charge for 7 years.
  • SPAS will take over the parking process - all you have to do is press the gas pedal and change gears.
  • SLIF reads speed limit signs, and SCC guarantees safe and comfortable driving in traffic jams: the system accelerates or slows down the station wagon depending on the speed of the car ahead.

On the website of the official KIA FAVORIT MOTORS dealer you can check the performance characteristics of the model and look at the photo.

In Russia, the model is sold in three body configurations: three- and five-door hatchback (Kia pro cee’d and Kia Cee’d), as well as a station wagon (Kia Cee’d sw). A wide range of motors allows you to obtain modifications with very different technical characteristics. The initial engine is a 1.4-liter Kappa series unit with a capacity of 1368 cc. see, producing up to 100 hp. power and up to 134 Nm of torque. The remaining engines represent the Gamma family almost in its entirety. This:

  • 1.6 MPI with 129 hp output. (157 Nm) with distributed fuel injection;
  • 1.6 GDI with 135 hp (164 nm) with direct injection and a variable phase system on both timing shafts. The engine pistons have special recesses for better fuel injection and combustion of the mixture. The compression ratio is 11.0:1 (regular MPI has 10.5:1).
  • 1.6 T-GDI is a turbocharged unit built on the basis of the naturally aspirated 1.6 GDI engine with the addition of twin-scroll supercharging. Installation power – 204 hp, peak torque – 265 Nm (available from 1500 rpm). A car equipped with such an engine received the GT prefix. It applies only to Kia Ceed hatchbacks.

Transmissions available for the car: 6-speed manual transmission (for 1.4 MPI, 1.6 MPI and 1.6 T-GDI engines), 6-band automatic transmission (1.6 MPI) and 6DCT preselective robot (combinable with 1.6 GDI 135 hp)

In Europe, the list of Kia Sid engines is longer. It includes, for example, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine in two boost variants (110 and 120 hp), as well as a 1.6 CRDi diesel engine with various settings. The latest seven-speed DCT robotic gearbox is paired with a 136 hp diesel unit.

Returning to the Russian specification, we note the dynamic characteristics of the Kia Ceed GT with a 204-horsepower turbocharged four. Such a car accelerates to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds, which is facilitated by a wide torque shelf (1500-4500 rpm), ground clearance reduced to 140 mm (regular versions have 150 mm clearance), and a clamped suspension.

In terms of fuel consumption, the “junior” 1.4 MPI engine looks most preferable, consuming about 6.2 liters per “hundred” in the combined cycle. Versions with 1.6-liter units burn only a little more - from 6.4 liters.

The Kia Ceed sw station wagon has the most impressive luggage compartment size. It can accommodate up to 528 liters of cargo behind the backs of the rear row seats, and up to 1,642 liters behind the backs of the front seats with the rear seats folded.
