That's a Chevrolet Lanos based on mileage. Advice on maintenance, regulations for scheduled maintenance

Maintenance of Chevrolet Lanos

In this article, we will talk about the most common problems associated with maintenance and typical malfunctions of Chevrolet Lanos cars. Cars of this family are considered a good option for their price category, but, like any car, Lanos needs timely maintenance, otherwise the consequences may not be the most pleasant.
Of course, you can change all the consumables yourself, but it’s still better to entrust this work to qualified specialists.

And so, let’s consider possible malfunctions of the main components of the car, such as:
- engine
- transmission
- body and chassis

The standard equipment of the car includes quite good packages, such as a driver's airbag, power steering, air conditioning, central locking and fog lights. I would like to note that Lanos is covered by a warranty of five years or 100,000 kilometers.

Engine
1.5 liter engine with a power of 86 hp. This unit, which complies with Euro 3 standards, has one huge achievement - reliability.

The engine does not have any superpowers, but it is quite reliable.

Despite this, the resource depends on timely and correct maintenance. The first thing you need to focus on is changing the oil (professionals recommend 5W30 GM, in the amount of 3.75 liters) while at the same time changing the oil filter, as well as the air and fuel filters. This procedure must be repeated every 10 thousand kilometers. According to the manufacturer's recommendations, spark plugs will last twice as long.

You should not delay replacing the timing belt and tension pulley, the service life of which is no more than 60 - 70 thousand kilometers, otherwise a break may occur and this unpleasant incident may backfire on you. After the same mileage, it is advisable to replace the generator drive belt.

In fact, there are few “problems” with the engine. The radiator of the cooling system is not very reliable. This is one of the main reasons why Lanos owners contact service centers. Installing a Korean radiator “cures” this problem. Experts say that its service life is many times longer than the standard one. Don’t forget about replacing the coolant, which needs to be changed every 40 thousand km..

There are also problems with the wiring harness under the hood, the quality of which does not inspire confidence. However, company employees assure that this problem has now been resolved.

Repeatedly there were problems with the injection system. This problem causes increased fuel consumption, unstable idling, jerky driving and loss of power. The main reason for this is the breakdown of one of the sensors: pressure,

lambda - probe or throttle position.

Transmission
The Lanosa engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The reliability of the manual transmission is legendary; it can easily withstand a mileage of 100 thousand kilometers or even more. But, do not forget that the durability of the box also depends on maintenance, although there are no recommendations for changing the oil in a manual transmission, it is nevertheless advisable to change the oil at least once every 70 thousand kilometers, otherwise the box may “howl”.

The clutch lasts from 50 to 100 thousand kilometers, depending on driving style. The assembly changes completely: disk, release bearing and basket.

Body and chassis
The front suspension of the Lanosa is McPherson type, equipped with anti-roll bars. The rear suspension is a torsion beam, again with stabilizers. In principle, the chassis works well on uneven surfaces at high speeds, although when driving over potholes, of which there are more than flat surfaces on the roads of our homeland, it leaves much to be desired. There are many bad reviews about the performance of standard shock absorbers. Most often, owners of this brand, without waiting for a breakdown, replace them with
non-original, more suitable for our roads.
Recently, there have been complaints about steering rack breakdowns, although company employees claim that this “disease” will no longer bother the owners.
After 20 - 25 thousand kilometers, a crunch may appear in the hub bearings. The price for them is not high, but nevertheless our

The Kulibins managed to find a cheaper way. It turned out that bearings from the VAZ 2108 fit here. Of course, most people use this!
After 60 thousand kilometers, it is necessary to change the ball joints and it is advisable to look at the condition of the CV joint boots. The durability of the CV joints themselves is ensured if the anthers are intact.
The brake pads of the front disc brakes last approximately 40 thousand kilometers, the rear drum brakes last about 75 thousand kilometers.

I would like to note the durability of the car body, which resists corrosion well and has a warranty from the manufacturer for a period of 5 years.

And so, we can conclude that cars of this brand have proven themselves to be reliable and inexpensive domestic foreign cars and, with proper and timely maintenance, will serve their owners faithfully, and will also allow them to avoid inappropriate and unnecessary financial losses.

As the car is used, the “consumables” gradually wear out, threaded connections become loose, lubricant develops, and moving parts become oily. All of the above phenomena at an early stage of development do not have a significant negative impact on the driving characteristics of the car. But over time, they will certainly lead to premature failure of complex units, the replacement of which will cost a tidy sum.

Our technical center carries out full-profile maintenance of Chevrolet Lanos - from preparation for summer/winter or sale to comprehensive diagnostics with subsequent repairs. As part of routine maintenance, as a rule, troubleshooting (removal, detailed reassembly) of actuators is not carried out. And the list of basic preventive measures includes the following works: fastening, lubrication, refueling, adjustment, control and diagnostic, cleaning.

Specifics of maintenance of Chevrolet Lanos at the AltAvto service station in Moscow

  1. Diagnostics are carried out using dealer scanners.
  2. The specified restoration operations are carried out in practice by experienced auto mechanics.
  3. Modern repair base, professional tools.
  4. Own warehouse of auto parts - sold separately upon request.

Fastening nuts and bolts checking tightening torque

1. Since the vibration to which the vehicle is exposed can cause loosening of the tightening torque of various fastening elements, such as bolts, nuts, screws, etc., it is necessary to periodically check the reliability of the fastening of these elements.

2. Pay special attention to the following components:
spark plug;
oil drain plug;
bolts for fastening vehicle controls, brake pedals, clutch and brake pedals;
engine mounting bolts;
bolts for securing shock absorbers and suspension arms.
Front suspension mounting bolt
rear suspension element mounting bolts;
brake mounting bolts;
nuts/bolts securing the exhaust system.

3. If a torque wrench is available, torque all fasteners to specifications.
