Audi a4 b8 description technical characteristics modification photo video. “Fourth” Audi A4 sedan Audi a4 b4 technical specifications

AUDI A4 is a middle class car with a longitudinal engine, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. It is the successor to the Audi 80, produced in 1986-1994.

The premiere of the new Audi A4 model range took place in October 1994, and mass production began in November. The body has acquired a more rapid shape with a rounded roof profile characteristic of the new VW-Audi style. The interior decoration is simply homely.

Visibility is excellent, while the highest requirements for passive vehicle safety are met: the central pillars withstand side impacts well (since October 1996, all models are equipped as standard with not only two front, but also two side, one on each side, airbags). In general, this model made a more solid impression, which finally allowed the Audi A4 to become a full-fledged competitor among the prestigious compact models (such as the BMW 3-er and Mercedes-Benz C-class) of the D segment. The latest developments by Volkswagen AG in the field of safety and technology (as well as a global production savings program) made it possible to create the Audi A4 on a unified B5 platform, which is also intended for other models of the concern, for example the WV Passat IV.

Initially, six versions of the 4-door sedan were presented with different gasoline engines: in-line four-cylinder - 1.6-liter 101-horsepower (ADP), 1.8-liter with five valves per cylinder (125 hp - ADR) and turbocharged (150 hp - AEB); six-cylinder V-shaped - 2.6-liter V6 (ABC - 174 hp) and 2.8-liter (AAH - 174 hp). All of these engines, except for the “weakest” 1.6-liter, were also installed on the all-wheel drive Quattro version, the production of which began without any pause in the same year, 1994. In addition to such powerful and playful “Otto engines”, the A4 became famous for its no less playful in-line 1.9-liter turbodiesel TDI family with direct injection, first 90-horsepower (1Z/AHU), and a year later 110-horsepower (AFN) with variable turbocharger geometry. The latter, by the way, was the most economical in its class - fuel consumption in the urban cycle per 100 km is only 6.9 liters! The traction characteristics of all used engines are impressive. On gasoline models, it is possible to install a Tiptronic automatic transmission, which allows you to change gears in manual mode, thereby active drivers can fully realize their driving skills.

The galvanized body of the Audi A4 is not afraid of corrosion; in any case, the company gives it a ten-year guarantee. In September 1995, power front windows became standard, but sunroofs remained an optional extra. Two months later, in November, the premiere of the Avant station wagon took place with the same range of engines as the sedan, with the exception, again, of the weakest 1.6-liter gasoline engine. The trunk volume of a station wagon varies from 390 to 1250 liters, which, although not much, is quite acceptable for station wagons for active recreation, in the market niche of which Avant is one of the most popular.

The basic equipment of the car includes: anti-lock brakes with an engine traction stabilization system, two airbags, power steering, cruise control system, climate control system, central door locking, alloy wheels, radio with CD changer, power windows, external heated, electric mirrors, dust and pollen filters and other necessary equipment.

After the new 2.8-liter 30-valve V6 with 193 hp appeared in April 1996. (ACK), the number of base models was 37, including all-wheel drive Quattro models, famous for their excellent grip and stability on slippery roads, although the front-wheel drive versions are almost as good as them, far ahead of many all-wheel drive models of competitors.

A sporty all-wheel drive S4 model with a 2.7-liter engine equipped with two turbocharging systems, five valves per cylinder and four camshafts, this engine develops a maximum power of 265 hp. at 5800 rpm. The high torque of 400 Nm remains constant over a wide range of 1850 - 4600 rpm. The S4, like the “charged” S4 Avant station wagon that appeared a year later, is equipped exclusively with all-wheel drive. The sedan accelerates to hundreds in 5.6 seconds, Avant in 5.7 seconds. In essence, the “S4” is a factory tuning product. The sporty-style interior has a full range of equipment, including climate control.

The suspension of these cars is sporty: there are wishbones at the front and rear (double at the rear), as well as anti-roll bars. The Audi S4 Avant is in high demand, and it doesn’t have many competitors.

The success of the A4 in the International Super Tour in 1996, 7 out of 7 possible victories in the European, South African and Australian championships, confirm the high quality of the car and its sporting character. One of the most awarded and prestigious cars in the world, the Audi A4 is a modern alternative to the conservative luxury car.

In the fall of 1999, the Audi RS4 premiered, which immediately won the title of the most powerful production station wagon in the world. This modest-looking station wagon has the temperament of a supercar. Its 2.7-liter V6, equipped with twin turbocharging, develops 380 horsepower! This power accelerates the car to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. As befits exotic sports cars, these cars drop dramatically in resale value - at least half the price of a new car.

At the beginning of 2000, two new power units appeared: a turbocharged 1.8-liter gasoline engine with 180 hp. and a 1.9-liter high-torque diesel engine with 115 hp. with high-pressure pump injectors, replacing the previous 110-horsepower diesel engine. As a result, the total number of engines ranges from 90 to 193 hp. reached 9, which in combination with various transmissions and chassis made it possible to obtain a very wide range of models for every taste.

In the fall of 2000, the premiere of a new generation of A4 models took place. Already at the first glance at the new Audi A4, the high level of comfort and quality that meets the requirements for a luxury car is obvious. This impression is confirmed by the power of the engines, unique smoothness, automatic air conditioning system, as well as a high level of safety and increased body strength. The A4 has already earned worldwide recognition: 2001 brought this car six honorary international awards, including Goldenes Lenkrad (Golden Steering Wheel), and readers of Auto Motor und Sport magazine (Germany) recognized the Audi A4 as the best middle-class car of 2002.

The appearance of the second-generation Audi A4 is in many ways reminiscent of the larger A6 and even the flagship of the company’s lineup, the Audi A8. Unlike the first generation model, the new car is 69 mm longer, 33 mm wider and 13 mm higher. The first to appear were cars with a sedan body, which has a fairly low aerodynamic drag coefficient Cx; in the new model it is only 0.28.

If you look at the A4 sedan from the outside, you can assume that its trunk is quite small. In fact, this is a “visual deception” of the designers who tried to make the car lean. In reality, the trunk dimensions correspond to the class of the car. The car body is very durable - this is one of Audi's strong suits. Thanks to galvanization, it resists salty winters.

There was no basic configuration as such. In Europe, when a person ordered a new A4, after choosing the engine and body type, he at his own discretion filled the car with a variety of equipment. No wonder dealers called these cars “construction kits for the buyer.”

The A4 salon can be decorated in one of three corporate styles. The “Advance” version involves finishing with materials and leather in “natural” colors, as well as walnut inserts. “Ambition” imbues the interior with a sporty spirit - the upholstery patterns are more energetic, and the leather used in the trim has light artificial tones that combine well with aluminum inserts. In the A4 Ambition you can often find a sports three-spoke steering wheel covered in leather. Finally, the most luxurious performance is the elite “Ambiente”. The cozy and luxurious interior is distinguished by special textured wood inserts and an abundance of leather. Even in the cheapest configuration, the interior captivates with the high quality of finishing materials and the precision of “fitting” of parts. And the most expensive versions are equipped no worse than other models.

The modified car will be equipped with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines, which includes 1.8-liter turbocharged engines; 2.0 and 3.0 liters with a power of 150, 130 and 220 hp. respectively, 1.9 TDI turbodiesels with a power of 131 hp. and 2.5 TDI with 180 hp.

Modifications with engines of 1.8; In addition to the usual front-wheel drive, 2.5 and 3.0 liters will be equipped with an all-wheel drive transmission, and the 2.0 and 3.0 liter models will be equipped with a Multitronic gearbox.

In 2001, the A4 Avant station wagon and the A4 Cabrio coupe-convertible were released, which received a folding hard roof (like the Mercedes-Benz SLK).

The A4 Cabrio is dynamic and unique, designed using cutting-edge technology and equipped with all possible equipment. Its predecessor was in production for about nine years and during this time it rightfully acquired the status of a “modern classic”. The new generation model also has all the hallmarks of the iconic car.

The updated design of its body, which is 4.57 m long and 1.77 m wide, inherits the classic elegance of the Audi Cabriolet, while at the same time emphasizing the sportiness of the brand. The convertible top of the new Audi A4 Cabriolet is equipped with electro-hydraulic operation and a heated rear window as standard. Excellent sound insulation and excellent adaptability to winter conditions are a given. Thanks to its sporty yet elegant interior design, which perfectly matches the dynamic exterior, the Audi A4 Cabriolet has a strikingly harmonious appearance. The temperament and unique properties of this car are obvious at first glance. Its dynamic, flattened bonnet, refined wedge-shaped body shape and powerful rear end with prominent tailpipes clearly express its sporty character.

These are all hallmarks of Audi design. These, combined with the power of engines delivering up to 220 hp, define the character of the A4 Cabriolet, taking driving pleasure to a whole new level.

In addition, the Audi A4 Cabriolet engine is combined with a multitronic gearbox. It combines the excellent dynamic performance of a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic.

The range of engines is quite extensive. Everyone can find a motor to their liking. The most economical 1.6-liter engine is suitable for phlegmatic drivers. Next comes a 1.8-liter engine with 125 hp. It has central injection and accelerates a heavy car quite easily. The engine of the same volume, but with a turbocharger, has a solid power reserve of 150 hp. Thanks to the low-pressure turbine, it pulls powerfully from low revs. The 2.8-liter V6 engine producing 193 hp gives the car a truly sporty temperament. 2.6 l/150 hp petrol engines complete the picture. and 2.4 l/165 hp.

The line of turbodiesels consists of two engines. Both feature direct fuel injection, an air intercooler and variable turbo geometry for greater low-end power. Such an advanced design ensures noiselessness and temperament at the level of a gasoline engine. Four-cylinder 1.9-liter engine from the TDI series with 110 hp. It features very moderate fuel consumption - its average value is 5.6 l/100 km. A more powerful version of the V6 2.5-liter with 150 hp. This engine is very harmonious with the station wagon body, since it is absolutely insensitive to the maximum load of the car.

In 2004, at the Paris Auto Show, Audi presented the updated generation of the A4. It features a redesigned body, an upgraded suspension and received four new engines. As before, buyers are offered the A4 sedan and A4 Avant station wagon. The body design is made in the new corporate style of the brand. The completely redesigned front end features Audi's signature single trapezoidal radiator grille. The headlights received a slight bend in the bottom line. At the rear there is a new bumper, a slightly different solution for the trunk lid and new original lights, consisting of two parts. The line of the wheel arches and the horizontal stamping on the body have also changed.

In addition, the car's chassis was also modernized - the elastokinematics of the suspension were changed, the characteristics of shock absorbers and springs were improved, and some components and parts were borrowed from the Audi A6 and modifications of the Audi S4. The sporty and at the same time comfortable dynamic suspension makes driving the Audi A4 a real pleasure.

Advanced technical solutions, impressive styling and the traditional Audi highest quality of interior trim will satisfy even the most demanding buyer. Among the changes in the interior, we can note a new steering wheel with a trapezoidal hub, a new instrument cluster and a center console, now facing the driver, more comfortable front seats with improved lateral support (on request with an electric drive with 8 adjustments for the driver's seat and 4 for the passenger seat). Interior trim - expensive wool fabric, velor or two types of genuine leather, including nappa.

The new appearance of the Audi A4 is fully consistent with the technical solutions used in it. Choose any of the engines: powerful and advanced gasoline units, as well as efficient, high-torque diesel engines are at your service.

The range of engines includes five petrol engines: naturally aspirated fours 1.6 l 8V (102 hp) and 2.0 l 16V (130 hp), turbo engine - 1.8 l 20V (163 hp) . Plus two new gasoline engines: a 3.2-liter V6 FSI with direct fuel injection, with a power of 255 horsepower, as well as a two-liter turbo engine with direct fuel injection, already known from the Audi A3 and VW Golf V models, with a power of 200 horsepower. From zero to one hundred kilometers per hour, both modifications accelerate in 7.3 seconds, and their maximum speed is 250 and 241 kilometers per hour, respectively.

For the Russian market, for now, instead of engines with FSI, a powerful 3.0 liter “six” is offered, developing 218 hp. In addition, three TDI R4 turbodiesels with a volume of 2.0 liters (140 hp) and two V6s with a volume of 2.5 liters (163 hp) and 3.0 liters (204 hp quattro) are offered. In Europe, the base is the 1.9-liter TDI (116 hp). An Audi A4 with a two-liter turbodiesel will be able to accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in 9.7 seconds, and with a three-liter one in 7.2 seconds.

Transmissions are 5- or 6-speed manual gearboxes or a multitronic variator (front-wheel drive), and for quattro there is a 6-speed tiptronic automatic. The legendary quattro permanent all-wheel drive provides maximum traction, and the ESP II generation stability control system even in difficult road conditions guarantees a unique level of safety. The A4's safety is ensured by modernized active (ABS+EBD, Brake Assist) and passive (8 airbags, including adaptive frontal) safety systems.

The luggage compartment volume of A4 sedans is from 460 to 720 liters, and that of A4 Avant station wagons is from 442 to 1184 liters.

The list of additional equipment for the A4 is traditionally wide - these are xenon headlights, active front head restraints that automatically take a C-shape when landing, separate 4-zone climate control, 4 hi-fi audio systems to choose from (power up to 210 W), trim natural wood and aluminum, 9 wheel design options, a navigation system with a TV tuner, several steering wheel design options and much more.

In addition to the S-line sports tuning package, a new DTM Edition sports package has been offered since 2005.

The premiere of the next generation of the Audi A4 Cabriolet 2006 model year took place in Frankfurt. The main change in design compared to the previous version is immediately noticeable: this is the monolithic trapezoidal radiator grille, which first appeared on the Nuvolari concept. Dimensions: length – 4,573 mm, height – 1,391 mm, wheelbase – 2,650 mm.

At the rear, the lights and bumper have also been redesigned, housing a diffuser that adds a touch of sportiness. The modern interior is consistent with the progressive style of the car's exterior. As standard, the car interior is decorated with aluminum inserts; you can also order walnut, gray or beige birch trim. The interior can be upholstered in fabric, fabric with leather, leather or leather with Alcantara in various colors.

Automatic up can be lowered and raised at speeds up to 30 km/h. Thanks to good thermal insulation and a glass rear window, the A4 Cabriolet can be used without restrictions in winter. An optional top with improved acoustic insulation allows for a level of sound comfort comparable to that of the A4 sedan.

In 2007, a new generation of the A4 sedan entered the market. The continuity of generations, which is fully inherent in all models from Audi, is obvious. The car retained all the recognizable features of its predecessor, but at the same time improved in all respects. The interior has become more spacious, the appearance is more expressive, and the equipment is richer. In short, the car has become more solid and luxurious. It is noteworthy that the A4 family sedan has been Audi’s best-selling model for many years.

There are a lot of changes in the car. The appearance has become much faster. The car received headlights in the style of the A5 coupe, a bumper with aggressive air intakes, and stampings that cut through the sides of the body. The Audi A4 sedan has become 11 cm longer and 6 cm wider. The wheelbase has increased by 158, which has a beneficial effect on interior space and trunk volume. In the sedan, the volume of useful space in the luggage compartment is 480 liters, in the station wagon - 490 liters with the seats in normal condition and 1430 liters if the rear seats are folded down. In addition to its enormous size, the trunk of the A4 Avant has a fastening mesh, a 12-volt socket and a double-sided lid, which is covered with soft lint on one side and plastic on the other. Plastic is indispensable when transporting contaminated cargo, and the soft fleecy coating will protect the trunk from scratches if the cargo has sharp corners. For transporting long loads there is a hatch in the backs of the rear row seats.

The Audi A4 2007 model year received five types of engines. Two of them are petrol: one is turbocharged, with a volume of 1.8 liters and a power of 160 hp. s., the second is a 3.2-liter V6 developing 265 hp. Thanks to cutting-edge engine development, Audi vehicles are powerful and efficient. All types of gasoline engines are equipped with FSI technology, which increases the torque and power of gasoline engines, as well as reduces fuel consumption (up to 15%) and reduces exhaust gas emissions. Unlike manifold injection technology, FSI engines inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber. This reduces internal heat losses, and also increases power and reduces fuel consumption.

The most modest diesel modification offers a 2.0 TDI engine with 143 hp. The car can also be equipped with 2.7 TDI turbodiesels with a power of 190 hp. and 3.0 TDI with 240 hp. TDI engines use modern common rain technology. The latest generation Common Rail system has a high-pressure fuel pump and one distribution line per cylinder bank. Its maximum injection pressure is 1600 bar, which is 250 bar more than the previous generation Common Rail system. During injection, an electrical voltage is applied to the ceramic element of the piezo injector, which changes its crystal structure.

The Audi A4 is available with both front-wheel drive and quattro all-wheel drive. The transmission range consists of a six-speed manual gearbox, a continuously variable Multitronic variator, and a six-speed automatic transmission. The A4 can be equipped with quattro all-wheel drive regardless of the engine. The design of the all-wheel drive has not changed fundamentally, but has undergone reconfiguration: it has become “slightly” rear-wheel drive. When driving on a straight, dry road, 60% of the torque is transmitted to the rear axle.

Thanks to the use of modern grades of steel, the car body has become 10% lighter, while, according to the creators, the body has become more durable; the body should withstand collisions with obstacles at speeds of up to 15 km/h without any consequences at all.

The developers also took care of the safety of passengers and the driver. For these purposes, six airbags, front and rear curtain airbags, standard parking sensors, ABS and the ESP electronic stabilization system are used. In 2007, the Audi A4 received the highest score of 5 stars from Euro NCAP as one of the safest cars in its class.

The basic equipment of the car includes an on-board computer, central locking, electrically adjustable mirrors, electric windows, heated seats, and a rain sensor. Optionally, the A4 Avant is available with a blind spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, a panoramic roof, a hill climb assist system, a Bang & Olufsen audio system with a 500-watt amplifier, 10 active channels and 14 speakers, and much more.

In March 2011, the five millionth Audi A4 rolled off the assembly line at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt - the Avant 3.0 TDI quattro model in Misano Red.

After four years of production, the third generation was restyled. The car received modernized engines and chassis, as well as a slightly modified exterior. The car has “grown” by several millimeters in length and height. The hood has become more curved. The designers changed the shape of the radiator grille, slightly “cutting off” its upper corners. The transverse ribs and rings of the Audi emblem are now made more prominently. The grille is painted gray or high-gloss black (on six-cylinder models and models with the S line package). The design of the headlights has been updated: their lower edges have acquired a slight wave-like bend; changes also affected the internal structure of the optics. Xenon plus headlights are available as an option. LED running lights are designed as a single narrow strip located next to the xenon headlight lenses. Adaptive headlights as well as dynamic and static cornering lights are available on request. The shape of the rear lights echoes the shape of the front optics. When ordering Xenon plus headlights, they are continuous LED strips.

The interior was refreshed with additional chrome inserts that appeared on the buttons and steering wheel. The steering wheel itself began to look sportier due to the cut-off lower segment, and the navigation system is now controlled by four buttons instead of eight. The interior of cars with the S line sports package is finished in black with updated materials. The package also includes 18-inch or optional 19-inch alloy wheels. Otherwise, everything is the same: easy-to-read instruments, a Russified on-board computer and a convenient joystick for the MMI system remain in place. The trunk has retained the same volumes - 480 liters (962 liters with the rear seats folded) for the sedan and 490 for the Avant station wagon.

The engine range includes six diesel (TDI) and four petrol (TFSI) engines in 23. All engines are supercharged with direct fuel injection; start-stop and recuperation systems are standard on all variants. Thanks to this, average fuel consumption decreased by 11%. The engines can be combined with a manual transmission, an S-tronic dual-clutch robot and a multitronic continuously variable transmission, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. In total, 23 combinations of engines and transmissions are available for the Audi A4; 16 options are available in Russia.

A new 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine has become available for the Audi A4, which can be ordered in two versions - 120 and 170 hp. What stands apart from everyone is the top-end 3.0-liter TFSI petrol engine, producing 272 hp. in the version for Audi A4 and 333 hp. in the version for the sports S4. As for diesel engines, the following options are available: a 2.0-liter TDI with 136, 163 and 177 hp, as well as a 3.0-liter engine producing 204 or 245 hp. depending on the version.

For the Audi A4 family, quattro® all-wheel drive uses a self-locking center differential. In normal driving mode, it distributes torque predominantly to the rear wheels in a ratio of 40% to 60%. If necessary, redistribution occurs in the shortest possible time. The torque vectoring function helps the center differential operate by using the brakes and giving the vehicle better handling.

Following the “older” models, the A4 was equipped with modern safety systems: now electronics monitor markings and road signs, the car automatically brakes in front of an obstacle at speeds of up to 30 km/h, and monitors the driver’s reactions and condition depending on driving style. In addition, a blind spot monitoring system has appeared.

The presentation of the Audi A4 in the new B9 body took place on June 29, 2015. The world premiere will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. This is already the fifth generation of this model.

The appearance of the Audi A4 2016 has noticeably changed and become more aggressive. The author of the updated image is the same designer Walter De Silva. The changes affected several elements at once. Already in the base, the car is equipped with xenon headlights, which have built-in LED daytime running lights. The taillights have a new geometry and a larger surface area. Dimensions and turn signals are clearly visible in the side view and from the rear at a great distance. The fog lights, although they remained at the same level, were slightly moved to accommodate sensors for monitoring road markings and thermal imaging equipment.

The car also gets a wider Singleframe grille, restyled bumpers (reminiscent of the sporty R model), reshaped door mirrors and increased use of chrome trim.

The sloping roof, the sharp angle of the windshield, combined with stampings located on the side parts of the body, provide excellent passage of the oncoming air flow. The drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.23 for the sedan and 0.26 for the station wagon, which in turn will reduce fuel consumption.

In terms of its dimensions, the Audi A4 2016 turned out to be slightly larger than the previous generation car. The length of the sedan is 4726 mm (+ 25), the wheelbase is 2820 (+ 12), the width is 1842 (+ 16), and the height remains unchanged (1427). The Audi A4 B9 (2015-2016) is based on the second generation MLB platform, due to which it was possible to reduce the weight (depending on the modification) by 120 kg compared to its predecessor.

The interior has become an order of magnitude more spacious, largely due to an increase in the size of the wheelbase. There is an additional 23 mm for the legs of those sitting behind. The driver and passengers can enjoy completely redesigned anatomically shaped seats. Inside the Audi A4 2016 there is a completely different front panel with a separate multimedia system screen, a different climate control unit, an even row of air ducts like on the Q7 II and a similar compact gearshift lever that has swapped places with the MMI control puck. There are a minimum of buttons on the steering wheel. Minimalism, however, does not come at the expense of information content. But at the same time, everything is at hand. You can reach any switch.

The multimedia system of the top versions is equipped with an 8.3-inch tablet with voice control support, a Wi-Fi hotspot, LTE, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For rear-seat passengers, two 10.1-inch tablets and a Bang & Olufsen audio system can also be ordered.

The A4 Avant's boot now accommodates up to 505 liters of luggage with the rear seats in place, representing an increase of 15 liters over the old model. When the rear seat is folded (40:20:40), the volume increases to 1510 liters.

The car received new five-link suspension at the front and rear. For an additional fee, adjustable shock absorbers with two operating modes are available: standard and sport. In the first version, the ground clearance is 10 mm lower than on the car in the version with conventional shock absorbers, and in the sports version – by 23 mm.

At the time of the model's release on the European market, seven power units are available for the car - three gasoline and four diesel, as well as the g-tron modification, which runs on synthetic methane.

Gasoline engines for the new Audi A4 are represented by a 1.4-liter turbo-four with a power of 150 hp, as well as two two-liter engines with output of 190 and 252 hp. The latter has Quattro all-wheel drive and accelerates to hundreds in 5.8 seconds. Among the diesel engines there are two two-liter four-cylinder TDIs with a power of 150 (320 Nm) and 190 (400 Nm) hp, as well as two three-liter “sixes” developing 218 (400 Nm) and 272 (600 Nm) “horses”. With the top version, the sedan reaches a hundred in 5.3 seconds.

The TFSI and 4-cylinder TDI engines come as standard with a newly developed 6-speed manual transmission, which is 16 kg lighter than the previous one. All engines (except the 3.0 TDI 272 hp) are optionally available with a new 7-speed S Tronic dual-clutch transmission, replacing the old Multitronic continuously variable transmission. In turn, the 3.0 TDI (272 hp) is offered with an 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox, which has also gone through a number of changes.

It will also offer the A4 Avant g-tron with a 2.0 TFSI engine (170 hp) and 270 Nm, which can run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The cylinders installed under the car can hold 19 kg of gas at a pressure of 200 bar and, according to Audi, with a consumption of less than 4 kg/100 km – the range on gas will reach 500 km. When the gas is depleted, a full tank of gasoline will allow you to travel another 450 km.

It is expected that later the range of engines will be expanded, including through hybrid modifications with the ability to recharge batteries from a household network.

The fifth generation of the Audi A4 with the internal factory index B9 debuted in 2015, and four years later, at a closed exhibition in Ingolstadt, the German manufacturer demonstrated an updated version of the family. It is worth noting that the new product is the first, but very deep restyling. The car received a modernized line of power units, a modified layout of the central panel, several additional options and a redesigned exterior. Despite the fact that visually the car has not received radical changes, most of the hinged panels are completely new. All that remained from its predecessor was the hood, roof and trunk lid or the fifth door, in the case of a station wagon. At the front, you can see a smaller radiator grille. It retained its hexagonal shape, however, it lost its chrome ribs. The headlights also have new filling. By default they are LED, and for an additional fee they are matrix with adaptive high beam. The sections of daytime running lights have also changed. At the rear you can see new brake lights with unusual graphics and a pair of massive exhaust pipes.

Dimensions

Audi A4 is a five-seater mid-size car in the premium segment. It is available in two versions: a four-door sedan and a station wagon. After restyling, its overall dimensions are: length 4762 mm, width 1847 mm, height 1428 mm for the sedan and 1435 mm for the station wagon, and the wheelbase is 2820 mm. The model is based on the MLB modular platform. It involves a fully independent multi-link suspension arrangement. In initial versions, conventional double-acting shock absorbers are installed all around, and for an additional fee, adaptive struts with comfortable and sport modes can be ordered. As for the size of the trunk, the sedan can offer up to 460 liters. The station wagon is somewhat more spacious. With the backrests of the second row raised and loaded under the top shelf, about 495 liters remain in the rear. If you sacrifice the rear seats, you can get up to 1495 liters.

Specifications

At the start of sales, five different power units were announced. Petrol Audi A4s will receive a range of two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines. Basic versions develop 150 and 190 horsepower and 270-320 Nm of torque. They come with only seven-speed preselective robotic gearboxes with two S tronic clutches. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. Older versions will receive a more productive engine with 245 horses and 370 Nm of thrust. It works with the same gearbox and the company's Quattro all-wheel drive system. Diesel versions are available in two versions. The first is a turbocharged inline four with 190 horsepower and 400 Nm with a robotic gearbox. There is also a more powerful V-six variant. It generates 231 hp and 500 Nm. The transmission is a classic eight-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Equipment

The main change in the Audi A4 interior was the updated multimedia system. It received an enlarged screen (10.1 versus 8.3 inches for its predecessor). Moreover, it has become sensory. For a more pleasant tactile sensation, the manufacturer installed a small spring. Also, the controller, which used to be responsible for control, disappeared from the center console. The optional virtual instrument panel has changed. It has increased functionality and image resolution. Other changes worth noting include a new steering wheel, an expanded list of finishing materials and ambient interior lighting.

The Audi A4 is a line of compact luxury cars produced since late 1994 by the German automaker Audi, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group. This car is the successor of which production ended in 1996.

The A4 has survived five generations of modifications and is based on the Volkswagen Group B platform. The automaker's internal numbering sees the A4 as a continuation of the Audi 80 line - the initial A4 is designated the B5 series, followed by the B6, B7, B8 and B9. The B8 and B9 series are built on the Volkswagen Group MLB platform, shared with many other Audi models.

The A4 body is available as a sedan and station wagon. The second (B6) and third (B7) generations of the A4 had a convertible body, but then with the fourth generation (B8) it became a separate model called the Audi A5. There is a sports version of the A4 called the Audi S4.

The development of the car began back in 1988 and at the end of this year the first design sketches were created. By 1991, the exterior design was selected and frozen until production in 1994. Interior design was completed in 1992, and experimental production began in the first half of 1994. Development was completed in the third quarter of 1994.

The car's closest competitors are BMW 3 Series, Volkswagen Passat, Kia Optima, Infiniti G, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Opel Insignia, Peugeot 408, Ford Mondeo, Mazda 6, Mitsubishi Galant, Mercedes C-Class, Nissan Teana, Renault Laguna, Toyota Camry and Skoda Superb.

Audi V5 (1994-2001)

First generation Audi A4 ( Type 8D) debuted in October 1994, production began in November 1994, and European sales began in January 1995. Sales in North America began later in September 1995. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B5 (PL45) platform, on which the fifth generation Volkswagen Passat is based. Two types of bodies were produced - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon (Avant).

Throughout the seven-year production, minor changes were constantly made to the car. Significant reconstruction was carried out in 1997. We updated some engines and added a 6-speed manual transmission. Another face lift was performed in 1999. The changes were mainly cosmetic, but affected almost all external elements.

The choice of engines is very large. Gasoline 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.6 to 1.8 liters with a power of 101 to 180 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.4 to 2.8 liters with a power of 150 to 381 hp. Diesel 4-cylinder 1.9-liter engine with power from 75 to 115 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped 2.5-liter engine with power of 150 hp.

There is also a large choice of transmissions - 5 or 6-speed manual, 4 or 5-speed automatic. Audi also announced a new Tiptronic automatic transmission. The transmission is a conventional torque converter automatic transmission that offers fully automatic operation or manual gear selection.

Audi V6 (2000-2006)

Next Audi A4 ( Type 8E) debuted on October 10, 2000, the basis was now the Volkswagen Group B6 (PL46) platform. The car's new styling was developed under the direction of German automobile designer Peter Schreyer between 1996 and 1998, inspired by the design for the second generation (C5) introduced in 1997.

The body was available in three versions - a 4-door sedan, a 5-door station wagon and a 2-door convertible. The Avant (station wagon) was introduced in June 2001 and entered European showrooms in September 2001.

A choice of engines to suit the most demanding tastes. Gasoline - 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.6 to 2.0 liters with a power of 101 to 187 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.4 liters (168 hp) and 3.0 liters (217 hp). Diesel - volume 1.9 liters (l4, 99-128 hp) and 2.5 liters (V6, 153-178).

There are four transmission options - 5 or 6-speed manual transmission or 5 or 6-speed automatic transmission. Audi introduced a continuously variable transmission developed by LuK called "Multitronic", which replaced the outdated traditional automatic transmission on front-wheel drive models. However, there were complaints from consumers around the world that the box was prone to electronic glitches and also had mechanical problems.

Audi V7 (2004-2008)

Audi introduced the new generation A4 at the end of 2004 with the internal designation B7 (Typ 8E/8H). The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B7 (PL46) platform. Despite the new designation, the B7 is a heavily modernized and updated version of the B6 with revised steering settings, suspension geometry, updated internal combustion engines, and an improved electronic stability program (ESP). The front grille unit has changed to a tall trapezoidal shape in the same way as on the third generation Audi A6 (C6), but the instrument panel and interior remain virtually unchanged.

The body also came in three versions - a 4-door sedan, a 5-door station wagon and a 2-door convertible.

A number of engines received many additions. In 2005, direct fuel injection (FSI) was introduced for the 2.0 TFSI and 3.2 V6 FSI petrol engines, as well as other improvements, increasing power to 197 hp. and 252 hp respectively. These engines use a four valves per cylinder configuration.

The choice of engines is still large. Gasoline - 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.6 to 2.0 liters with a power of 102 to 220 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 3.2 liters with a power of 252 hp. Diesel - 4-cylinder with a volume of 1.9 to 2.0 liters with a power of 115 to 170 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.5 to 3.0 liters with a power of 163 to 233 hp.

There are four transmissions to choose from - 5 or 6-speed manual, 6-speed Tiptronic automatic, as well as a Multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a choice of seven speeds.

Audi V8 (2009-2015)

Audi presented the first official photos of the A4 B8 series in August 2007 and the car itself was shown to the public at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2007. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B8 modular longitudinal platform (MLB/MLP), a platform that is also used for the Audi A5 coupe. Cars with a convertible body type began to be called Audi A5, leaving only two bodies to choose from - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon.

The MLP platform allows for a reduced front overhang, resulting in a longer wheelbase without increasing overall length. This effectively redistributes the center of gravity slightly rearward, improving handling and balancing the vehicle's weight between the front and rear axles. Also, the new platform made it possible to increase space in the cabin and luggage compartment, and the curb weight of the car decreased by 10%.

Gasoline engines are all equipped with direct fuel injection (FSI) - 4-cylinder 1.8 and 2.0 liters with power from 118 to 222 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped 3.0 liters (268 hp) and 3.2 liters (261 hp). Diesel engines are all turbocharged with direct injection - 4-cylinder 2.0-liter with a power of 116 to 168 hp, 6-cylinder V-shaped with a volume of 2.7 and 3.0 liter with a power of 187 and 237 hp.

As many as five different transmission options have appeared - 6-speed manual transmission, 6-speed “Tiptronic”, 8-speed automatic transmission, 7-speed DSG “S tronic”, as well as an “8-speed” CVT “Multitronic” .

Audi V9 (2015-present)

In June 2015, the next generation version of the Audi A4 B9 (Typ 8W) was released - the fifth model for the A4 name and the ninth generation of the Audi 80/A4 series as a whole. The official launch took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. The car is built on the Volkswagen Group B9 platform (MLB/MLP). The B9 is slightly larger in size than the previous generation, but weighs 120 kilograms less. There are also two body styles to choose from - a 4-door sedan and a 5-door station wagon.

The mid-size premium sedan Audi A4 of the fifth generation (with the internal designation “B9”) debuted at the end of June 2015 - on the vastness of the World Wide Web... The world premiere of the car took place in the same autumn - on the podiums of the Frankfurt auto show, after which (literally in for several months) it went on sale in major markets (including Russia).

As a result of “reincarnation,” the Ingolstadt “a-four” remained faithful to the corporate style, but completely updated their equipment (at the same time adding in size, but losing “extra pounds”).

The appearance of the “fifth” Audi A4 was not a big surprise - the three-volume car retained its recognizable outlines, although it was transformed in accordance with the latest trends in the corporate style of the brand from Ingolstadt.

The car looks beautiful and presentable, and much of the credit for this goes to the front end: a trapezoidal radiator grille, an aggressive bumper and stylish lighting with L-shaped running lights, reminiscent of lightning in its shape (by default - bi-xenon, optionally - LED or matrix).

The strict, but not devoid of dynamism, silhouette of the German “four” demonstrates correct and harmonious proportions, the solidity of which is added by the embossed wheel arches, accommodating discs measuring from 16 to 19 inches.

The rear of the sedan is made in a calm and laconic style, but is not deprived of modern attributes: LED lights of an original shape and a raised bumper with a pseudo-diffuser.

Depending on the engine, the car has a single or dual exhaust pipe at one edge, or a pair of pipes spaced at the edges.

As a result of the generation change, the dimensions of the Audi A4 have not changed much: 4726 mm in length, 1842 mm in width and 1427 mm in height (the first two indicators added 25 mm and 16 mm, respectively). The wheelbase of the “German” is 2820 mm, and the ground clearance depends on the suspension: 135 mm in the basic version, with an emphasis on comfort – 10 mm lower, and on sport – 23 mm lower.

The interior of the fifth generation A4 is a combination of avant-garde and classic, and this most clearly applies to sedans with a “virtual cockpit”, which is a digital instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch diagonal screen under the usual visor. In simpler versions, its place is taken by a simple panel with analogue dials and a small “scoreboard” in the middle. A multifunction steering wheel is located directly in front of the driver, the design of which is directly influenced by the level of equipment.

In the very center of the presentable front panel rises the “tablet” of the multimedia complex with a diagonal of 8.3 inches, below which a wide climate control unit with an individual display, a pair of “washers” and several buttons “took up the defense”. The modern design is echoed by high-quality finishing materials (expensive leather, real wood and aluminum) and a premium level of workmanship.

For the “fifth A4” there are anatomical seats with a thoughtful profile, pronounced support on the sides, a wide range of settings and heating (optional also with ventilation, and even with electrically adjustable lumbar support). The increased dimensions of the body also affected the organization of the rear passenger seats - there was more space on all fronts.

Among the “additional amenities” are a 10.1-inch multimedia center screen and individual climate settings.

The trunk of the sedan does not shine with capacity, but it should accommodate 480 liters without problems.

Specifications. On the Russian market, the 5th generation Audi A4 is offered with a wide range of four-cylinder turbo engines, in tandem with each of which is a 7-band S tronic robot.

By default, the car is equipped with a front-wheel drive transmission, and for the most powerful gasoline unit, a quattro system with a self-locking differential is available, which divides the traction in a ratio of 40:60 in favor of the rear (if necessary, up to 70% of the available potential can go forward, and up to 85% back). .

The gasoline part is available in three options:

  • the base of which is a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection, producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque between 1500 and 3000 rpm. It allows the German D-sedan to “shoot” from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 210 km/h, consuming an average of 4.9 liters of fuel in combined mode.
  • This is followed in the hierarchy by the 2.0 TFSI ultra engine, equipped with direct fuel injection, a turbocharger and electronic technology for regulating coolant degrees, which is available in two boost levels. Its output includes:
    • 190 “horses” and 320 Nm of thrust at 1450-4200 rpm,
    • or 249 forces 370 Nm of maximum torque at 1600-4500 rpm.

In the first case, the “fifth” Audi A4 spends 7.3 seconds to accelerate to the first hundred, in the second – 1.5 seconds less, the maximum speed reaches 240 and 250 km/h, respectively. In the combined driving cycle, the three-volume vehicle consumes an average of 4.8-5.7 liters of fuel per 100 km.

  • A 2.0-liter turbodiesel is also available for the “four” in the B9 body, which, depending on the modification, generates:
    • 150 “mares” of power and 320 Nm of maximum thrust at 1500-3250 rpm
    • or 190 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque in the range from 1750 to 3000 rpm.

With the “younger” unit, the car reaches 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and tops out at 219 km/h; with the “older” unit, these figures are 7.7 seconds and 237 km/h, respectively. The “appetite” of such a sedan varies from 3.7 to 4.1 liters in the combined cycle.

It is possible that in the future more productive diesel engines will be brought to our country - 3.0-liter V-shaped “sixes”, delivering from 218 to 272 “horses” of power and from 400 to 600 Nm of potential.

The fifth generation of the Audi A4 is built on a modernized MLB “trolley”, which is created on the basis of high-strength steel, “winged” metal and composite materials, which, depending on the installed engine, allows saving up to 120 kilograms of weight. Both front and rear are equipped with a five-link suspension design, with the upper control arms connected to the bodywork for optimal rigidity.

Optionally, the “German” is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers with two settings – comfortable and sporty.

The steering of the car “flaunts” an electromechanical power amplifier (for an additional fee - with a variable gear ratio), and the braking system - disc mechanisms on all wheels (front - with ventilation).

Options and prices. On the Russian market, the fifth generation Audi A4 in 2018 is offered in three equipment options - “Base”, “Design” and “Sport”.

  • For a basic car equipped with a 150-horsepower engine and front-wheel drive transmission, dealers are asking a minimum of 1,970,000 rubles. By default, it boasts: six airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights, light and rain sensors, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, multimedia complex, audio system with 8 speakers, ERA-GLONASS technology, ABS, ESP, rear parking sensors, cruise and other modern equipment.
  • For the “Design” and “Sport” configurations you will have to pay from 2,150,000 rubles, and a car with all-wheel drive will cost from 2,499,000 rubles. The first option has 17-inch wheels, a three-spoke multi-spoke steering wheel with leather trim, an interior lighting package and some other bells and whistles, while the second has 18-inch wheels, a more developed body kit around the perimeter of the body, sports front seats, and upholstery of the interior, ceiling and front panel in black materials.

In addition, this four-door has a wide range of additional options.

Audi A4, 2016

The first thing I liked was that the navigation was cool, on the dashboard it was more detailed, as if close-up, on the screen in the middle of the dashboard it was more scaled, brightly colored, with a lot of information about nearby vacation spots, gas stations, and hotels. Next - Shumka. Here's what: 18-inch Pirelli wheels, low profile. The cabin is quiet, somewhere after 120 there is noise in the arches, it does not interfere with talking in a low voice, but it is there. On the last four there was a radio with a subwoofer, an SD card played, and disks. It sounded good, but I'm not a music lover. The new Audi A4 also has a subwoofer, apparently 10 speakers, that reproduces everything possible, except perhaps vinyl. To my ears, as well as to the ears of all sorts of strangers and not so listeners, it sounds cleaner and tastier. And there are all sorts of more settings. A little about the salon. The interior of the Audi A4, as the right guys like to say, is just a spaceship. And I agree with them - stylish, beautiful, high quality, no need to reach anywhere - everything is convenient, at hand. It's just confusing. If on that A4 everything was intuitive, then here I still haven’t figured out half of the options. Just today I accidentally found out - it turns out that I have active cruise control. Overall, the interior is impressive. Yes, the wood is real - gray oak, however, the rest is also real - metal metal, soft plastic, although I don’t know who feels it in real life. The seats are sports, perforated Alcantara with leather, with S-line imprints on the backs, well, this is a reason to feel cool, that’s understandable, but as for the seats - on the previous one I also had sports seats, these are an order of magnitude better. My wife and I drove, almost without getting up, for 16 hours from Moscow - and nothing got sick, didn’t ache or warped. And we, unfortunately, are far from even 30. The seats are electric, I sat comfortably almost immediately and haven’t changed the settings yet, it sits well. How she drives! Everything in it is new - engine, chassis, gearbox. It's like being glued to the road. They say you can also ride it sideways. It's hard to imagine yet.

Advantages : drives great. Equipment. Options. Interior comfort.

Flaws : not found.

Audi A4, 2016

Several days of searching, calling dealers, prepaying one of them and buying this car from another. As a result, I took an Audi A4 2 liters, 249 horsepower, all-wheel drive, sport equipment, two S-lines, 18-wheel drive, electric driver's seat, LED headlights front and rear, music 10 speakers with a subwoofer, piano lacquer inside, comfort package, and so on. maybe I forgot. After driving the first 200 km, the feelings are only positive. The headlights are fire, the suspension is super, the gearbox is good, the steering is very wonderful, the music is 3 plus. A very nice car. The noise is very good. The beauty in the salon is simply incredible, the extended lighting makes itself felt, there are many different colors, and you also have the opportunity to choose your own color. The sports seats provide excellent grip, and as a bonus there is excellent rear grip with the Alcantara interior. The size inside is like an Audi A6.

Advantages : spacious interior. Quality of materials. Engine-box.

Flaws : price.

Audi A4, 2016

After the theft of the previous Nissan Murano car, he began to consider options from the big German three. I settled on an Audi A4. Comfort: terribly uncomfortable sports seats that lack lumbar support, although lateral support is excellent. Yes, I am a person with a not entirely healthy back; after half an hour of driving, my back begins to ache, my legs become numb, and my heel hurts. Otherwise, there is nothing that I could complain about in terms of a comfortable ride. Sound insulation is good; music (improved somehow) is on the level. It swallows the pits quite well (worse than the Murano, but there’s no point in complaining). The steering wheel (sports) is comfortable, all the buttons are at hand, the speedometer screen is simply a miracle, here BMW and Mercedes look and cry, the gearbox shifts great and on time, although again on the Murano, it seems, it was no worse. The downside is that the screen in the middle cannot be removed. For some reason, it seems to me that someday they will definitely break the glass and try to pull it, mistaking it for a tablet, but this is probably a phobia after the theft. Handling is excellent. Cons: a scary, huge, monstrously sized cricket somewhere below, near the left leg. I don’t know what it is, but it feels like it’s not even a cricket, but some kind of creature that is about to chop off my legs. And this is on the new German. I don’t know whether to be happy or not, but for now this is the only significant negative at the moment. Consumption: 6 liters on the highway, 10 liters in the city, I don’t know whether it will increase or not, as long as it stays at this level. I know cars like a pig knows oranges, that is, all I know is where to put water in the washer, and I can’t find that in every car, so there were some concerns about the great and terrible “oil guzzler,” but so far everything is in order. So far the car has not let us down, but what could happen to the car with such mileage? I drove an Audi A4 to the Volga, it drives confidently along the highway, picks up speed quite well, and again, I really like the handling. General conclusions: the car is not bad. To be honest, I am wildly delighted with the interior of the car, I really like the way it drives, so I won’t say that I regretted the purchase, but I also can’t say that I’m in a state of euphoria.

Advantages : sound insulation. Excellent at swallowing pits. Comfort. Controllability.

Flaws : uncomfortable sports seats. The screen on the panel does not retract.

Audi A4, 2016

About my feelings: the Audi A4 is an incredibly cool car, you just stand next to it and enjoy it, I’m not the only one who noticed this. You open the heavy doors, sit inside and the pleasure moves to a new level. The materials were fitted just perfectly, the joints were unreal, they were made by some crazy people. Convenient landing. In all the cars I've owned, I realized that I was sitting. My legs were almost always at a 90 degree angle. In the Audi A4, as soon as you get into the car, you immediately sink into the seats, your body takes on some kind of reclining, elongated state. No amount of seat adjustments can fix this. At first it was unusual, but then I realized how convenient it was. The trunk is generally a separate issue, it is deeper in depth than on the same Q5, and in width plus/minus the same. And the clearance, even with a body kit, is also quite good, it seems to me, like most sedans (most likely this is due to the high suspension for countries with poor coverage).

Advantages : A car gives you the pleasure of owning it.

Flaws : not noticed.

Audi A4, 2016

I am very pleased with the car, considering my youthful ambitions, it copes with a bang. The motor is enough to have fun and at the same time not kill you. After the first maintenance everything is ideal, I hope it will continue to be so. On long trips in the Audi A4 you don’t get tired at all, it’s a pleasure. If you wanted to overtake, you went out, didn’t even blink an eye, you wanted to, you drive calmly and enjoy the comfort. In the city you can always fit into the silks in the parking lot, despite the dimensions, the car is very compact (all these cameras and front parking sensors are trinkets, the rear ones are quite enough). And, of course, a luxurious interior, which to this day evokes emotions among passengers. Externally, the equipment of the Audi A4 is far from top-notch, but the emphasis was placed on the interior.

Advantages : comfortable interior. Lots of options. Engine operation. Suspension.

Flaws : cost of additional options.
