Skoda engine oil. Motor oils and everything you need to know about motor oils Skoda Yeti what motor oil

Skoda Yeti is a compact urban crossover, which is the most affordable SUV class model on the Russian market. Reliability, comfort, handling and high quality workmanship are the main advantages for which people buy this car. There are practically no problems with Yeti maintenance if the machine is under warranty. But when the warranty period ends, problems arise. Since the Skoda branded dealership provides only paid services, owners of a used crossover have to choose - sell the car or leave it, putting up with expensive repairs. There is a third option, which is the most preferable - for example, carry out maintenance yourself to save on maintenance. Moreover, even an inexperienced owner can cope with some procedures. One such procedure is changing the engine oil. But first you need to choose the right oil so that the engine lasts as long as possible. This article provides recommendations for choosing a high-quality lubricant, as well as recommended oil parameters for Skoda Yeti engines.

The best option

Experienced motorists fill only proven lubricants into the Skoda Fabia engine. Among them there is certified oil General Motors Dexos 2 with 5W30 parameters . This high-quality consumable is ideal for almost the entire Skoda Yeti engine line. The oil has passed many tests, the results of which have received recognition from international experts, and most importantly, received approval from the official management of Skoda.

The parameters of the oil in question are impressive and fully correspond to the markings indicated in the Skoda Fabia user manual. Let's pay attention to the parameters of General Motors Dexos 2 5W30 oil:

  • ACEA Compliant - Classes A3, B3, B4 and C3
  • API Compliant - Supported Classes SM/SL/CF
  • Quality certificate from the Volkswagen concern, which includes Skoda
  • Suitable for use in all VW cars, from Skoda to BMW and Porsche

Analogs

The above lubricant from General Motors is a more affordable analogue compared to the original Skoda oil. As you know, the Yeti crossover comes from the factory already filled with Skoda oil, which is considered the highest quality. It is from the parameters of this lubricant that you need to start and give preference to other brands. In any case, all the necessary specifications can be found in the instructions for the Skoda Yeti. These parameters should then be compared with those indicated on the product packaging.

For example, General Motors Dexos 2 lubricant fully complies with the standards of the German brand. Thus, the following standards must be indicated on the packaging of oil:

  • VW501.01
  • VW502.00
  • VW504.00

Gasoline and diesel engines have their own tolerance parameters, viscosity and ash content. Let's consider them separately for each Skoda Yeti model range:

  • Recommended brands – Shell, Castrol, Mobile.

Conclusion

Thus, based on the information obtained, when choosing a suitable lubricant, you should focus primarily on the recommended parameters. The fact is that today there are many manufacturers that produce counterfeit oils. Such a product often does not have any certification, and can only attract with a low price. You should not buy the cheapest oil, especially when it comes to lubricant for the Skoda Yeti. It is also not recommended to mix different oils, as they have different properties. If possible, you should fill in the factory lubricant, and among analogues, choose GM oil or other products with the appropriate parameters.

The engine in a Skoda car is subject to wear and deformation over time. To prevent this process, it is necessary to correctly select motor lubricant in accordance with the tolerances and specifications from the manufacturer. High-quality oil will not only ensure the functional performance of the system, but also protect it from damage.

What are the tolerances for Skoda different models?

Skoda Rapid

The Czech manufacturer indicates in the manual the VW Long Life III lubricant with a viscosity of 5w30 for Skoda Rapid models with engine capacities and sizes:

  • 122 hp TSI – 1.4 l;
  • 86, 105 hp TSI – 1.2 l;
  • 105 hp TDI – 1.6 l.

For more powerful power units, the manufacturer recommends VW Special Plus 5w40 oil. It is poured into naturally aspirated engines installed at Rapid.

At the factory, a new car released from the assembly line is filled with Volkswagen branded lubricant with tolerances 502 and 504. When performing maintenance, specialists can offer motor oils with other specifications and tolerances. For example, Skoda service centers can offer oils from Shell, Mobile or Castrol brands.

Skoda Octavia

The manufacturer recommends filling the Octavia A5 power units with synthetic-based products. As for tolerances, they must comply with VW standards 502/504/505/507. Viscosity – 5w40, 5w30. However, when performing maintenance, fill in 0w30 lubricant. Car enthusiasts prefer:

  • Motul 8100;
  • Castrol Edge;
  • Shell Helix Ultra;
  • Neste City Pro;
  • X-Wedge;
  • Liquid Moly.
  • TDI 2.0 – 3.8 l;
  • TDI 1.9 – 4.3 l;
  • TSI 1.8 – 4.6 l;
  • TDI 1.6 – 3.8 l;
  • MPI 1.6 – 4.5 l;
  • TSI 1.4 – 3.6 l;
  • TSI 1.2 – 3.6 l.

According to technical regulations, an oil change is carried out after 15 thousand kilometers or earlier, depending on operating conditions.

Octavia 7

The operating instructions indicate that for cars with a flexible replacement interval it is necessary to fill in oils with VW 504 approvals if the engine has a volume of 1.2-1.4-1.8 liters and is equipped with a turbine.

It is recommended to fill turbocharged engines with volumes of 1.6 and 2.0 on diesel fuel with VW 507. If the car has a limited interval, then lubricants with 502 tolerances are suitable for gasoline internal combustion engines.

The Czech manufacturer fills Skoda Octavia 7 cars with Castrol Edge 5w30 oil by default. It meets the Long Life III tolerances, which may be indicated on the canister in conjunction with the specifications from Volkswagen.

After undergoing maintenance, car enthusiasts prefer to change branded lubricant to alternative analogues from manufacturers:

  • Mobil;
  • Shell;
  • Motul.

The viscosity index is selected based on the operating conditions and temperature indicators of a particular region.

Speaking about the frequency of replacement, it is worth proceeding from the applied tolerances. It is best to change the car oil after reaching 10-15 thousand kilometers.

Volumes of liquid poured into motors:

  • TSI 1.2-1.4 – 4.2 l;
  • TSI 1.8 – 5.2 l;
  • TDI 1.6-2.0 – 4.6 l.

Octavia Tour

The replacement interval for Octavia Tur internal combustion engine systems ranges from 10 to 15 thousand km, depending on operating conditions. The manufacturer recommends synthetic-based lubricants with the index 5w30 or 5w40, depending on the parameters and engine size.

The amount of oil to be filled is up to 5 liters. Regarding tolerances, the product must comply with VW 503-504. The tolerances of older versions of VW 501-502 may also be suitable.

Skoda Superb

The Volkswagen automobile concern uses 5w30 synthetic-based factory oil for Skoda Superb internal combustion engine systems. It meets VW Long Life III approvals. This is practically the same lubricant as Castrol SLX. In service centers, synthetic-based lubricant from the manufacturer Shell is poured into the motors.

You can also fill in motor oils from other manufacturers. The main indicator is compliance with tolerances 502-504 and product viscosity classes 5w40, 5w30. Also, do not forget about the frequency of oil changes recommended for internal combustion engine systems equipped with turbocharging. If the Superb model has an engine capacity of 2.0 TDI, then it is better to use Castrol 5w30 with a 507 approval.

Lubricant with VW 504 approvals must be used when the mileage reaches 15 thousand km. Some car enthusiasts prefer to replace them after 10 thousand km. The regulations allow earlier replacement if the car is operated in harsh climatic conditions.

Skoda Yeti approval

For power units installed on the Skoda Yeti, the original GM Dexos 2 lubricant is suitable. It meets VW and LL approvals. The following tolerances are indicated on the packaging:

  • VW 504;
  • VW 501;
  • VW 502.

In service centers for atmospheric ICE systems 1.6 MPI running on gasoline fuel, they use Shell Helix or Castrol Edge with viscosity indexes 5w30. Such power units comply with VW approvals 502/504/505/507. Experts also suggest filling in motor lubricants from manufacturers:

  • Motul 8100 5w40;
  • Total 9000;
  • Liquid Moly.

When choosing, special attention should be paid to specifications and viscosity. As a rule, 4 liters are used for Skoda Yeti engines. Replacement is carried out based on climatic conditions. The recommended frequency is 10-15 thousand kilometers.

Oil for the internal combustion engine system of Skoda Fabia

Motor fluid for the Skoda Fabia model must have a VW 502-505 approval and a viscosity grade of 5w40 or 5w30. Castrol Edge recommended.

You can also cast synthetic-based compounds with a viscosity index of 0w30. At Skoda service centers, specialists use this oil for Fabia with an engine capacity of 1.4.
