There is nothing surprising in the fact that there is more space inside for passengers and luggage. The dashboard has been moved further forward from the driver to give more room for people. There's plenty of knee and shoulder room in the back thanks to a 53mm longer wheelbase.


The floor has become flat, which directly affects the comfort of passengers in the middle of the rear seat. One question remains, how do engineers implement rear-wheel drive with such a low field? For example, on RS models? This remains to be seen.

The 4th generation car was presented on April 10 in two parts of the world at once - in Europe (Cologne, Germany) and China. The new model, built on the modern global C2 platform, has acquired a lighter and more rigid body, a completely new appearance with a number of interesting design solutions, a spacious and comfortable interior, an expanded range of options, a rich range of different power plants and a revised suspension that promises almost a standard controllability.

The 2018-2019 Ford Focus family will delight you with a variety of different designs. The model will be available in sedan (in demand primarily in China), station wagon (Wagon) and, of course, a five-door hatchback. In turn, the latest classic format provides for the presence of several special versions at once - the sporty ST-Line, the luxurious Vignale and the “crossover” Active. Production of new Focuses will be established at factories in Germany (Saarlouis) and China. On the European market, the new product will go on sale in the second half of 2018 at an estimated price of 19 thousand euros. In Russia, according to statements from the local representative office of the company, the current one will be on the assembly line of the plant in Vsevolzhsk until the end of this year. The timing of the start of local assembly of new generation machines will be announced later.

The move to the new C2 platform marked changes in the size and proportions of the car's body. The most significant correction was made to the wheelbase, which increased by 53 mm (to 2701 mm). The external dimensions were not corrected so much. The Ford Focus hatchback now has a length of 4378 mm, a width of 1825 mm, and a height of 1454 mm. The Wagon station wagon, with the same center distance, extended by 4668 mm, while the width and height were 1825 and 1481 mm, respectively (height including roof rails). Along with the change in size, there was a qualitative improvement in the body structure. It has become lighter (weight reduced to 88 kg) and torsionally rigid (increased by up to 20%).

The new Ford Focus will hit the market with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines. The line of gasoline units includes:

  • 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engines with output options of 85, 100 and 125 hp;
  • 1.5-liter EcoBoost fours with 150 and 182 hp boost.

The range of diesel engines is represented by 1.5-liter (95 and 120 hp, 300 Nm) and 2.0-liter (150 hp, 370 Nm) turbo units of the EcoBlue family.

An 8-speed automatic transmission is only available on engines 1.0 EcoBoost 125 hp, 1.5 EcoBoost 150 hp, 1.5 EcoBlue 120 hp, 2.0 EcoBlue 150 hp. A six-speed manual transmission is combined with any of the listed engines.
