Rav 4 or Mazda CX5 expert opinion. Which car is better: Mazda or Toyota

Four Japanese crossovers

They fight for our hearts.

In Russia they love this.

The fifth generation Honda CR-V arrived in Moscow in the winter, and we even managed to get acquainted with it (ZR, No. 1, 3, 2017) while it was undergoing certification. And when the opportunity arose to take a commercial CR-V, it arrived. It is noteworthy that both models will initially be offered with flagship engines of 2.5 and 2.4 liters, respectively. It would be a sin not to pit them against each other in a head-to-head confrontation! The partners in the test were Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 and Toyota RAV4 2.5, which occupy not the last places in the D-crossover segment.

Toyota RAV4

The fourth generation car was introduced to the general public in 2013 and has since been one of the most popular in the segment. Since last year, the RAV4 for the Russian market has been assembled at a plant in St. Petersburg.

ENGINES:

petrol:
2.0 (146 hp) - from RUB 1,493,000.
2.5 (180 hp) - from RUB 1,791,000.

Mitsubishi Outlander

The third generation car was shown in 2012. A couple of years ago it was restyled, and last winter the Outlander acquired new options. It is the only one in the segment equipped with a V6 engine.

ENGINES:

petrol:
2.0 (150 hp) - from RUB 1,499,000.
2.4 (167 hp) - from RUB 1,959,900.
3.0 V6 (227 hp) - from RUB 2,289,990.

Mazda CX-5

The second-generation CX-5 debuted last fall. Structurally, it is almost no different from its predecessor. The diesel version is no longer available to our customers.

ENGINES:

petrol:
2.0 (150 hp) - from RUB 1,431,000.
2.5 (194 hp) - from RUB 1,831,000.

Honda CR-V

The first display of the fifth-generation CR-V took place in 2016, but it only reached Russia this summer. The two-liter modification will appear at dealers in mid-autumn.

ENGINES:

petrol:
2.0 (150 hp) - from RUB 1,769,900.
2.4 (186 hp) - from 2,109,900 rub.

Friend or foe

Richly equipped Outlander!

It's a pity, this is a loud cry

Disappears into the abyss.

Before leaving, I studied the results of our group tests with the participation of Outlander and found that every time he was out. Only once, immediately after the debut, was he placed in the middle of the points table. But the “stranger” (that’s how his name is translated) is not a stranger to us - he is released in Kaluga.

It cannot be said that the Japanese gave up on Outlander. On the contrary, they modernize it almost every year, for which honor and praise be given to them. Either in the fight against overheating they installed a variator radiator (why was it removed?), then they updated the appearance, or introduced an improved all-wheel drive transmission for versions with a V6 engine. And this year it came with LED foglights, all-round cameras, blind spot monitoring and interference detection systems when reversing and with the new Mitsubishi Connect multimedia system. We appreciated all this goodness, since the test Outlander is just in the flagship version.

No miracle happened. Compared to its competitors, Outlander is like Achilles, who can’t catch up with the tortoise: they always find themselves one step ahead. And now, despite the latest update, the taste of old-fashionedness is clearly felt inside the “out”. Gloomy black finish, simple eco-leather, simple seats with a limited range of adjustments. I liked the new multimedia system with its logical interface and quick responses, but was surprised by the lack of a navigator. The GPS coordinates informant is little consolation. The ears of the variator paddles completely overlap the pictograms on the steering column switches, and the transmission selector is located too low. And there is absolutely nowhere to put the smartphone. For a car that costs 2,109,990 rubles, there are a lot of flaws.

In part, Outlander was rehabilitated on the fly. In the city, it impresses with its good visibility and the well-coordinated duet of the 167-horsepower engine and CVT. But as soon as we hit the highway, the idyll disappeared, like the contents of a bottle of sake in a Japanese restaurant. The engine squeals annoyingly under active acceleration, and there is a lot of road noise. The shaking suspension forces you to slow down even in front of modest-looking holes. If you encounter a larger-caliber bump, a painful blow will follow, to which not only the seat, but also the steering wheel responds. Competitors do not allow themselves to do this.

Even on a glass-flat road, the Mitsubishi does not give pleasure: vague effort on the steering wheel, pronounced understeer and restive brakes that grab at the very end of the pedal stroke. And even when decelerating sharply, the Outlander slightly scoots along the trajectory and the tires squeak disgustingly - I haven’t heard this from cars with ABS for a long time. This is clearly not the hero of my novel.

But there is hope for off-road talent. And in this field the “foreigner” performed well. You can lock the multi-plate clutch in the rear wheel drive (the Toyota RAV4 also allows this). The main thing is to turn off ESP so as not to choke the engine.

“Out” feels confident in mud baths. I impudently push my way forward, scattering cakes of sodden soil with my wheels. And everything would be fine, but the oak pendant on the gullies shakes out the soul. Not even ten minutes had passed before I wanted to stop and take a breath.

The stiff suspension and noisy power unit cannot be covered up by any restyling. To compete on an equal footing with the more modern “Japanese”, Outlander needs a generational change.

Unrefined

Market bestseller

We criticize.

That also happens.

Looking at the sales statistics for 2016, I whistled: RAV4 has become the most popular Toyota in Russia! 30,603 cars were sold - seventh place in the “absolute” of the Russian model standings. The gap between competitors - D-segment crossovers - is impressive. Thus, the second-place Nissan X‑Trail found only 17,886 buyers. With all that, in our latest tests the RAV4 did not show convincing performances. Maybe now, after, it will reveal itself in all its glory?

I dive into the cabin in the secret hope of seeing a new multimedia system with Yandex.Navigator, but this is an option only for the Exlusive version. And in our car there is an ordinary navigator with outdated graphics, as if the IT industry has been marking time for the last ten years. The RAV4's interior leaves a mixed feeling. All-round cameras, an automatic braking system in front of an obstacle, an area with inductive charging for smartphones - this is cool. But how to dispel the spirit of bureaucracy?

The “tarpaulin” plastic and the primitive cruise control lever, “attached” to the steering wheel, evoke sadness. It’s not only the handbrake handle that’s surprising (competitors have a button), but also its plastic finish. And this is in a car for 2,134,000 rubles?!

But visibility is excellent, as is the ease of landing. Ergonomics of the first order does not raise any questions: the main controls are located as needed and where needed. But the secondary switch buttons are scattered haphazardly and without any logic, at least understandable to us. Well, why is the steering wheel heating button next to the clutch lock button, and the seat heating buttons next to the CVT mode control? But there are plugs in the cabin - so what prevented everything from being put together in a human way?

The Rafik is good on the move. It accelerates to hundreds in 9.4 seconds: slightly slower than Mazda and a full second faster than Honda and Mitsubishi. An excellent addition to the peppy little engine is the 6-speed automatic, which always gets into the right gear accurately and in a timely manner. Spurring a Toyota is a pleasure! And the handling is quite adventurous. If, of course, you can forgive the mediocre feedback on the steering wheel.

During the latest update, the RAV4 acquired softer springs and recalibrated shock absorbers, which may have improved the ride, but only slightly. Jolts, knocks, painful blows - Toyota treats them all with an enthusiasm worthy of better use. This is especially true for rear passengers. The headrests of the second row tremble so much that it is impossible to get them into focus! And yet Outlander's discomfort is not here. Firstly, the steering wheel does not tear from your hands. Secondly, shaking occurs at higher speeds than in the Mitsubishi.

Our RAV4 is poorly suited for off-roading, and there are several reasons for this. Home -165 mm ground clearance. Not serious! With this in mind, I drove off the asphalt very carefully. It seems that I had previously blocked the clutch, but still got stuck in the muddy field. Rotating wheels are instantly stopped by ESP.

So, and “where is his button?” I was able to disable the anti-bux only by looking at the manual. It was not for nothing that I criticized the chaotic placement of buttons: the ESP off key is in the upper part of the center console, near the seat belt indicators. The “Rafik is not guilty” excuse does not work in this case. Still so guilty! As it turned out, this function is of little use, since the electronics allow slipping only when moving in a straight line. As soon as you turn the steering wheel and open the throttle, ESP detects the beginning of a skid and cuts off traction.

In general, despite its many advantages, the RAV4 looks eclectic. Just a couple of years ago, in comparison with competitors, he aimed to be a leader, but now he has moved into the category of the middle peasants. But this fact does not seem to bother buyers. They choose the RAV4 for its legendary Toyota reliability and high residual value. And these are trump cards from the category of unbeatable ones. And this is the best proof of this.

Accelerate

Space with comfort

They cause delight.

But not the price.

However, the obstacle in the fight for buyers’ wallets will not be the modest cross-country ability of the CR-V, but the high price. The test car, with a similar level of equipment, is more than 150 thousand more expensive than the top versions of its competitors.

Strong five

A number of wishes

The Japanese learned.

It became more comfortable.

Mazda CX‑5 has an informal achievement: it won all our group tests in which it took part. Therefore, we looked at the new generation car with special passion, since it’s nice to look at such a beauty.

The look is absolutely recognizable. Contours, dimensions - everything is the same as its predecessor. But there was sophistication in the details. The radiator grille, instead of banal slats, is decorated with small turbines; foglights the size of a five-ruble coin also attract attention.

The salon is a good step towards premium. Compared to the background of Japanese classmates, it’s like a boutique hotel versus a typical “three stars”. Good quality soft plastic everywhere; The glove compartment and armrest box are covered with soft fabric, and the audio system with Bose acoustics produces crystal clear sound. Level!

Buttons, keys and levers? In terms of feedback and tactile sensations, it’s almost like a BMW or Audi. I especially liked the knurled pucks that control the climate control and infotainment system. The multimedia interface is perhaps the best among its kind: everything is extremely clear and understandable. It's a pity that the screen is small these days (you have to look closely at the navigation map), and it's also annoying that it takes too long - about five seconds - to load the list of radio stations.

The CX‑5 has made serious progress in terms of electronics. A projection of instruments onto the windshield has appeared (the quality and information content of the picture is no worse than in the BMW and Audi mentioned above), a blind spot monitoring function and even a lane keeping system, which none of today’s rivals offers. Where Mazda could not beat them was the seats: they are the most ordinary.

At idle, the engine is completely inaudible, and even when driving it is silent. But it pulls like a beast! The slightest impulse on the accelerator, and the car rushes forward. Moreover, it does not matter at what point the speedometer needle is at that moment - “20” or “120”. The clever automaton understands everything in half a word, in half a movement. When necessary, it drops three gears in one fell swoop; when not, it keeps the revs low and saves fuel.

The main revelation is the amazing smoothness of the ride, which I couldn’t boast of. The CX‑5 rolls along broken asphalt as if on a velvet path - I have never encountered such serenity in this class. The suspension easily swallows potholes of various sizes, which only make themselves felt by micro-shocks on the steering wheel.

At the same time, the engineers managed to maintain light, airy handling. How effortlessly Mazda twists into various turns, how tightly it holds onto the trajectory, how precise and responsive its steering wheel is! Great chassis! Only the Volkswagen Tiguan can demonstrate such a love of life and ease of being in this segment. Which, by the way, in a rich configuration and with an engine of comparable power will be half a million more expensive.

I had to get used to the brakes. In terms of deceleration efficiency, the CX-5 is not inferior to its competitors, but the information content of the drive is so-so. Are the mechanisms getting used to it? So, we got the CR-V brand new, but there you immediately find mutual understanding with the left pedal.

Off the asphalt, Mazda did not give up. There are no special off-road modes, and you can’t lock the clutch, but the CX‑5 rushes through the mud with the equanimity of a real SUV. There are significant advantages over the “automatic” RAV4: ground clearance of 200 mm and an almost smooth bottom.

Yuri Timkin: “The Mazda CX‑5 captivated us with its balance of refined handling and high driving comfort. This is one of the best crossovers in the segment. And among the Japanese - the best."

Even before the points were counted, it was obvious that Mazda would win. Honda also performed well: if it had shown itself better off-road, it could well have shared first place with the CX‑5.

The RAV4 and especially the Outlander no longer come across as strong players. And this problem cannot be solved “spotwise” - only by changing generations. Fortunately, “replacements” are on the way. But Mazda’s groundwork is such that so far nothing threatens it.

EXPERT ASSESSMENT OF VEHICLES

Points are assigned collegiately by a group of ZR experts. The rating is not absolute, it shows the car’s place in a given test with specific rivals.

The maximum score is 10 points (ideal). 8 points is the norm for cars of this class.

HONDA CR-V

MAZDA CX-5

TOYOTA RAV4

Driver's workplace

Honda has the best seats: well profiled, with many adjustments. The controls of all machines are comfortable, with good ergonomics. The Outlander was an exception: the CVT selector is located too low, the huge manual shift paddles overlap the steering column levers. Mitsubishi and Toyota took the lead in visibility.

Controls

Salon

Mitsubishi disappointed us with non-insulated sills, which can easily stain your trousers. He, along with the RAV4, surprised with rear doors that open at a small angle. The tightest second row was found in Mazda. And the CX‑5 (as well as the RAV4) does not have a very spacious trunk. Honda and Mitsubishi are better for carrying cargo.

Rear end

Ride quality

The best handling is found in the CX‑5 and RAV4. They are also noticeably faster, since they are equipped with a hydromechanical automatic transmission. CVT Hondas and Mitsubishis take too long to reach high revs. I liked the brake setup better on the RAV4 and CR-V.

Dynamics

Controllability

Comfort

In terms of noise insulation, the CX-5 is clearly the leader: quiet, like a safe! Let's write the Outlander as an anti-hero: the suspension is loud, the wheel arches are poorly insulated. Mazda and Honda were ahead of their opponents in terms of ride quality. Mitsubishi performed poorly, whose suspension cannot handle broken asphalt.

Smooth ride

Adaptation to Russia

The CR-V and CX‑5 have the best geometric cross-country ability: the ground clearance is decent, as are the approach and departure angles. Honda has a weak dealer network, and Toyota has low service intervals. Outlander and CR-V can be refueled with AI-92 gasoline. Honda doesn't have a full-size spare.

Interim assessment

Off-road behavior

The RAV4 again disappointed us with its inability to completely disable the stabilization system. The CR-V also made a mistake: it did not want to engage the rear axle when crossing a track. Cars with a CVT are inferior in endurance to “automatic” ones: after five minutes of driving on heavy ground, the engine is not allowed to develop high speeds.

Overall rating

Before buying this or that item, we, as a rule, evaluate it according to various parameters and, of course, compare the product with analogues. Obviously, if we are talking about a low-budget purchase, a global approach to this issue is not relevant, however, if you are about to purchase a car, it is worth comparing it with analogues in as much detail as possible. We offer you a comparative description of cars such as the Mazda CX 5 or Toyota RAV 4. Both of these models belong to the category of Japanese-made crossovers and are compared quite often, since they belong to the same class. We have prepared for you a detailed analysis of the characteristics of these crossovers in the main aspects.

Suggested configurations and price tag for the model

First of all, it’s worth talking about the equipment of the analogues in question. The Toyota brand offers potential buyers of the RAV 4 model only 2 powertrain options:

  • gasoline engine with a volume of 2 liters and a power of about 146 horsepower;
  • a more powerful version, also running on gasoline, with 180 horsepower and 2.5 liters of volume.

Within the global market, this Toyota is also presented with a diesel engine, however, the brand has not brought this equipment to the Russian market.

In this matter, the Japanese brand Mazda has prepared a much wider choice for its customers. Of course, petrol engines with a volume of 2 or 2.5 liters are offered. However, Mazda's power plants are much more powerful. In addition, a diesel version with a 2.2-liter volume and 175 horsepower is also available in Russia.

In terms of electronics and technical equipment, Mazda undoubtedly loses to the RAV 4 model. The latter has pre-installed xenon optics, and also has a system that blocks the electronic clutch, which, by completely transferring torque to the rear axle, has the ability to turn off stabilization in full.

Such a factor as the price of the car is often decisive, because some characteristics of the car can be sacrificed if you have to pay an exorbitant price for the model. The cost of Toyota starts from 1.459 million rubles, while Mazda in a similar configuration will cost from 1.349 million.

Exterior models

When comparing the exteriors of models, it’s worth starting with Toyota. Previously, it was designed as a SUV, intended primarily for women. This determined the shape and general nature of the design, and therefore the public was quite skeptical about the model. Meanwhile, the brand eliminated the problem by introducing strict and clear lines and classic geometry into the exterior in order to interest the male audience. It’s fair to say that the exterior of the RAV 4 turned out to be ambiguous. The hood and bumper of the crossover are quite elongated, and therefore the headlights look quite deep-set.

The result of the brand's work on Toyota's exterior is ambiguous

In turn, Mazda’s brainchild, the CX 5 model, is the brand’s first step towards implementing a new design concept for all products. The car seems “driving” due to the presence of aggressive lines and strict details in the exterior. Since the overall shape of the car looks very fast, purely visually it seems smaller in size than its Toyota brand counterpart.

Mazda CX 5 – the embodiment of a new exterior design concept from the Japanese brand

Salons that have nothing in common

The interior of the Mazda is designed laconically and does not imply any frills. However, it uses very effective elements:

  • the front panel is designed in the style of modern BMWs;
  • To prevent the multimedia system screen from reflecting glare, it is slightly recessed into the dashboard;
  • effective lateral support on the seats;
  • the dashboard of the model looks quite modern and prestigious;
  • specially designed compact seats.

Unfortunately, Mazda's simple, intuitive multimedia interface is still somewhat outdated.

Due to the installation of an angular-shaped dashboard, the interior of the RAV 4 gives the impression of being very reliable and massive. Meanwhile, many elements in the interior definitely lack quality. We are talking about buttons and a dashboard made of low quality plastic. By the way, Mazda, with its compact seats, loses to Toyota in terms of seating for the driver and passengers. The seats in the RAV 4 are equally suitable for both thin passengers and larger people. The level of ergonomics is also higher in Toyota, since the cabin has a sufficient number of shelves and pockets designed for a wide variety of small items.

All this means that, considering the interiors of the Mazda CX 5 or its analogue - the Toyota RAV4, we can come to the conclusion: Toyota is more spacious, ergonomic and comfortable.

Control and test drive results

If you need to compare the RAV 4 and the Mazda CX 5, it is also important to pay attention to how crossovers behave on the road. An experienced driver will feel the difference in the handling of each model even in the first minutes of the test drive. So, within the framework of this issue, Mazda can be characterized as follows:

  • sharpness and sensitivity to driver manipulations;
  • pronounced dynamism;
  • very modest fuel consumption;
  • good handling when cornering;
  • The car responds perfectly not only to the gas pedal, but also to the use of the brake system.

In general, the Mazda crossover performed well in city conditions. Unfortunately, the automatic transmission version is not comparable to its manual counterpart in terms of control, as it lacks steering wheel paddle shifters.

Speaking about Toyota, it must be said that this car is quite heavy to lift. If at low speeds the difference between the crossovers is practically not felt, then after exceeding 60 km per hour the differences become obvious. Toyota is intended primarily for light off-road use, but in urban conditions it is rather weak:

  • low speed on turns;
  • strong roll when cornering;
  • slow acceleration and so on.

Thus, Toyota will reveal its potential in off-road conditions, but Mazda will perform well in the city.

Crossover differences are subjective

So, after comparing the Mazda CX 5 and Toyota RAV four, we came to the following conclusions:

  • Mazda offers potential buyers a wider choice when it comes to powertrains, but Toyota's equipment is much more solid.
  • Mazda's exterior is brighter and more memorable, and therefore this crossover is perfect for young people who want to buy a stylish car. Toyota will be the optimal solution for those who prioritize the comfort and space of a car.
  • The Mazda is suitable for young people with a thin build, while the RAV4 will be an ideal option for older passengers with a “skinny” body. In addition, due to the large doors, Toyota has a much more comfortable seating position and gives passengers the opportunity to place all their little things in special drawers and pockets, which the more modest Mazda interior cannot offer.
  • For city driving, the Mazda is best suited, while the Toyota excels off-road.

Thus, it cannot be said that the first or second crossover is objectively better than the other. Almost all of their shortcomings are subjective. In any case, both brands approached the issue of developing these crossovers with all responsibility, although they embodied completely different concepts.

Toyota RAV 4 and Mazda CX 5: crossovers designed for different purposes updated: July 18, 2017 by: dimajp

Competition among Japanese crossovers will always be hot and uncompromising. Today we will find out which car - Mazda CX 5 or Toyota Rav 4 - is more suitable for the Russian buyer.

Both cars continue their irreconcilable struggle for the hearts of customers. However, the nature of this confrontation has undergone certain changes. While Toyota continues to focus on comfort, presence and undeniable reliability, the priorities of the creators of the CX 5, which attracted dynamics, mischief and a sporty driving style, have changed since 2017. We present you a comparison of the 2016 Rav 4 and the updated Mazda CX5.

Exterior

Rav4

A completely redesigned version of the Rav4 was released back in 2013, and its restyling was carried out in 2016. The design of the model has already become rather boring. Although at the moment this is even beneficial for the car. When the updated body first came out, it caused heated discussion. Some accepted it willingly, while others accused the engineers of giving the car a feminine shape.

After restyling, many of the exterior flaws were smoothed out, and after a while, the ambiguous sensations when seeing a crossover on the road began to disappear. However, objective complaints about the appearance remained. In particular, the rear of the car causes conflicting feelings - the fifth door looks too flat and unsightly. She clearly does not fit into the general and now familiar appearance.

The rest of the car's exterior turned out to be quite good. Looking at her, you will not find grace and graceful lines; she will not evoke enthusiastic feelings in you. Everything is simple, but tasteful. Attractive, but not exciting. In a word, everything is done “the Toyota way.”

There is no need to dwell on the design of the Toyota Rav 4 for long. There is not a driver on earth who does not know this car. As for the competitor, it needs to be considered in more detail!

CX5

The new Mazda CX 5 is very similar to the 2015 version, both visually and in numbers. The wheelbase remains the same. The width and height also remained unchanged, and the length increased by only 1 cm, which can be explained by the increased protrusion of the front bumper and radiator grille. By the way, the A-pillars were shifted 30 mm towards the center, which lengthened the hood and gave the car additional shades of aggression.

If you look at the car from afar, it will not be easy to notice a significant difference in body parts. But as you get closer, you realize how seriously the design has been redesigned. The car received new front and rear LED headlights. An important detail - LEDs are now available in all trim levels of the 2017 CX5. Only the number of LED elements in the optics depends on the price.

The bumpers have been changed. The modernized false grille looks elegant, the lines of which smoothly continue into the relief of the headlights. By the way, it has lost its horizontal chrome inserts and is now made in the form of a mesh.

The side doors have become simpler and lack embossed stamping. But this update did not have a negative impact on the appearance - and that’s nice. As the engineers explained, this design of the doors will improve sound insulation. But we'll talk about the sounds in the cabin later.

The headlights have become narrower and more pointed. New side mirrors have appeared. To put it briefly, there are fewer lines on the body, and those that remain have been sharpened. It was as if the engineers had removed unnecessary relief and more clearly emphasized what had been preserved. Thanks to this, the body has become more elegant, harmonious and aggressive.

Special thanks to the creators of Mazda for having the patience to polish the entire body of the car as a whole. Looking at the car there is no feeling of imbalance as, for example, in the new Pazhdero Sport, where inspiration ended after designing the “muzzle” (see. comparison of Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Prado).

The 2017 Mazda CX 5 definitely gets a point for looks. While the Rav4 is not a hopelessly ugly car, it is also attractive. But the competitor turned out to be a whole head taller, or even two.

Interior

CX5

The interior of the new CX 5 is very similar to the previous generation model. Even the ergonomics are similar. The control buttons are located in the same place as inside the CX 5 2016. However, the dashboard looks different. It has become a little convex, and this is not a minus at all. Looks very representative! And the finishing materials on the front panel look better and more presentable than in the Rav 4.

If previously the Mazda seats sagged a little and had very “absorbing” lateral support, which created inconvenience for large drivers, the new seats are comfortable and very similar to the seats of the Rav 4 2016.

Although the stitching and quality of the leather remained the same, the seat filling has changed - as a result, they have become moderately rigid and have lost the uncomfortable lateral support that squeezed the ribs of large drivers.

Rav 4

As for the Rafik, its interior is difficult to compete against the background of the Mazda. The materials are a little unharmonious, and in some places they even look cheap. For a crossover of this level, this is not cool.

There have been “legends” about Toyota ergonomics for a long time. The buttons for seat heating and sport mode adjustment have been lowered under the convex part of the center console, which creates serious difficulties when driving. Firstly, you need to reach them, and secondly, they are simply not visible in the dark. You have to remember the location and press them by touch.

In general, the buttons in the Rav 4 are absurd: they seem to have been taken from different cars, even from different generations. However, the driver's seat is comfortable. The steering wheel is adjustable in different directions and in a wide range, providing the most comfortable fit.

In the Toyota Rav4, I would like to note the large and clearly visible controls. This applies to both the center console buttons and the instrument panel. The numbers are big and bright.

A significant drawback that has become a feature of all Toyota models is the display.

Yes, it is more functional than the 2013 version before restyling. However, it seriously slows down - it reacts with a delay, and the “stuttering” of the system is clearly visible on the screen. And the graphics no longer correspond to the level of 2017.

And again Mazda

The Mazda CX 5 offers a much more modern touchscreen display. Its graphics are better, its resolution is higher, and its functionality is higher. One drawback: the screen is excellent and adjusts conveniently, but it was inserted in the wrong place. It sticks out from the top of the console, as if it was attached with Velcro like a regular tablet. Not harmonious!

Otherwise, Mazda's design is excellent - it looks rich, stylish and modern. By the way, in addition to the sensor, the multimedia system can be controlled using elements located behind the gearshift lever. This is convenient because the driver does not have to reach for the screen while driving.

Mazda has another nice addition that makes the car modern and technologically advanced. Depending on the configuration, the manufacturer offers 2 types of dashboard display. The first type is retractable. It is small in size and rises above the dashboard. The second is the projection of data onto the windshield. It displays information not only about vehicle dynamics, but also about lane keeping.

Rear row of seats

Let's move on to the second row. Here Toyota clearly wins. In terms of comfort in the rear seat, it is difficult for the Rafik to find worthy competition. Rav 4 has a large and comfortable sofa without a pronounced relief, which will be comfortable for three medium-sized or two large-sized passengers.

I am very pleased with the almost complete absence of a central tunnel underfoot. By default, the bottom of the sofa and backrests are heated, which Mazda did not have until 2017. And there's a ton of legroom for rear passengers in the Rav 4. Moreover, the backrest leans back significantly.

The Mazda CX 5 has less space. Although the sofa is not inferior in comfort to its competitor, the new crossover cannot boast of a backrest angle. It is visible on paper, but in fact the amplitude of the tilt is so insignificant that you may not notice it.

There is a tunnel under your feet. But I was pleased with the armrest, which has buttons for heated seats and two USB inputs for charging devices.

Options

Options are definitely not the strong point of the CX 5. While the Rav 4 has long been pampering its customers with a rich winter package, a heated steering wheel and second row did not appear in Mazda until 2017. The same applies to the electric drive of the fifth door. The CX 5 does not have adaptive cruise control that automatically brakes or accelerates, and the multimedia system does not sync with iOS and Android. There is a lane control system, but it doesn't work well. Even the maximum configuration has only one built-in camera.

Toyota Rav4 2017 has a well-functioning all-round visibility system, 4 cameras, as well as blind spot monitoring and lane control systems. "Rafik" is equipped with adaptive cruise control, which works in a timely manner. All this is missing in the new Mazda.

In the CX 5's defense, we can say something about its automatic lighting system. The car does not have low or high beams. The LEDs are sent via a computer, analyzing the time of day and the presence of oncoming cars. Heating threads are built into the windshield, but they are only located in places where snow accumulates.

Trunk

Now the trunk. What immediately catches your eye is that on the Rav 4 it opens a little higher, although in both models you can adjust the opening height. The trunk volume of the new CX 5 remains the same, so Toyota again wins in this indicator, beating its next competitor - 577 liters versus 442 liters.

If you fold down the rear seats - in Mazda they can be lowered directly from the trunk - the situation does not change. Toyota still has more!

Noise insulation

And now about the main innovation of Mazda. Remember what was annoying about previous versions of the CX 5, and throughout the entire Mazda line? Noise insulation. It seems that the primary task of the engineers when creating the new model was to solve exactly this problem. They even sacrificed the character of the car for the sake of comfort. Apparently marketers began to reconsider the group of their customers.

Sound insulation is truly excellent. It has been improved by reworking body parts and inserting sound deadening materials wherever possible. Even the trunk is now upholstered with this material; There is almost no exposed plastic left. The engineers managed to achieve their goal, but to do this they had to make a serious compromise.

Ride quality

Before the release of the new version, both cars were accused of being too rigid, so engineers from both companies did a fair amount of work on the bugs. At the same time, no one lost the sharpness of control.

There have been noticeable changes in the behavior of the Mazda CX 5. The acceleration dynamics dropped, and at the same time the feeling of mischief that its driver experienced disappeared. Yes, the suspension has become more energy-intensive, and passengers feel even more comfortable than in the Rav 4.

But Mazda has lost its former character. She was appreciated for the fact that she gave a storm of emotions. However, the explosive dynamics of the engine were “calmed down” so that it would not be too noisy and would not cancel out the efforts of the engineers who introduced kilograms of sound insulation. Against the background of the above, the 9 seconds to 100 km/h declared by the manufacturer seems like fiction.

Much of the engine's restraint comes from the gearbox. Although the steering wheel remains just as clear, and in terms of responsiveness it even beats its competitor. The CX 5 has a built-in G-Vectoring Control system, which intelligently distributes the load on the wheels. So, when entering a corner, the computer increases the pressure on the front axle so that the entry into the corner is precise and does not blur. Toyota does not have such a system.

But our cars position themselves as crossovers, so it is important to check their driving characteristics. If you compare off-road vehicles, the conclusion is obvious! Toyota and only Toyota!

The CX 5 is simply not suited for off-road driving. It does not provide drive adjustment or clutch locking. Everything is controlled electronically. As soon as you load the suspension, a warning message appears on the display indicating that the unit is overheating.

Continued use may cause damage. A bit weak for a crossover. Meanwhile, the Rav 4 tackles any surface with near ease. Conclusion: for asphalt – Mazda, and for everything else – Toyota.

Options and prices

Toyota Rav 4 2017 offers customers 3 engine types:

  1. 2.0 liter petrol engine. (146 hp);
  2. Diesel with a volume of 2.2 liters (150 hp);
  3. Gasoline 2.5 l (180 hp).

All versions with the second and third engine types are equipped with a 6AT type gearbox. However, the 2-liter unit can be purchased with a 6-speed manual or CVT. By the way, this modification also gives the client the right to choose a wheelbase: 4x2 or 4x4. Diesel and gasoline Rav4 2.5 liters are available only with all-wheel drive. Prices start from 1,449 thousand rubles and reach 2,058 thousand, depending on the configuration.

Mazda has only 2 types of engines: 2.0 l. 150 hp and 2.5 with 194 hp. At the same time, two-liter engines come with both a 6-level manual transmission and an automatic transmission. The 6AT version is available in 4×2 and 4×4 wheel configurations. The manual transmission can only be purchased with front-wheel drive. As for the CX5 2.5 liter, this modification can be purchased exclusively with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The cost of the basic configuration starts from 1,445,000, and the maximum – from 1,849,000 rubles. Considering that Toyota has many “working” features that its competitor does not have, the price difference is quite justified.

So which is better?

Now let’s try to answer the main question - which is better: Rav 4 or CX 5? Toyota is very predictable. It is reliable, simple and functional. And its unassembled interior design can be forgiven thanks to the wide range of options, spaciousness and comfort. If you are all about practicality and don't need those elegant lines, then the choice falls towards Toyota.

Some video

Many car owners will agree that choosing among 10 options is much easier than in situations where there are only 2 candidates left. And especially when each of them deserves to take a place in your garage.

There has always been impressive competition in the new market. With the advent of almost all companies that had not even previously planned to produce SUVs, due to high demand, were forced to offer their own option in this segment.

Some cars can only be conditionally called competitors, since the favorite in their confrontation is obvious. And there are cars that are really difficult to choose between. A good example is the Japanese crossovers Toyota RAV4 and Mazda CX-5. Great cars in every way. To choose your favorite, you should compare them based on key characteristics, performance capabilities and other parameters.

The current second generation Mazda CX-5 was officially presented in Los Angeles in November 2016. The Japanese automaker itself is positioning the new product as a completely new generation. But in reality, the generation change is more like a deep restyling.

Changes in technical terms turned out to be minor. The CX-5 has an updated platform and some modern components have been added. There was no revolution in appearance either. The cars have changed, but the appearance remains easily recognizable from the first generation of the crossover.

The upgraded platform from its predecessor was used as a trolley to create the 2nd generation CX-5. A large amount of high-strength steel is used here, due to which the torsional rigidity indicators have increased by 15.5%. At the front there is a traditional independent suspension with MacPherson struts, and at the rear there is a multi-link design.

The Mazda crossover has a rack-and-pinion steering system with electric power steering. The brakes are disc brakes everywhere, and the front ones are also ventilated. Standard equipment includes ABS, BA and EBD systems, as well as other electronic assistants.

The current version of the Toyota RAV4 for the European and Russian markets made its debut in September 2015. The North American presentation took place back in April of the same year. The fourth generation already has a successor, which debuted in the spring of 2018. But the new product has not yet reached the Russian market, so it is relevant to talk specifically about the restyled version of the 2015-2019 model.

As part of the modernization of the RAV4 from the Japanese automaker, Toyota received an updated appearance, new equipment, improved quality finishing materials, modern safety systems, etc. The crossover itself is based on the Toyota MC platform. The car has a supporting body structure and a transversely located internal combustion engine. The front suspension is completely independent with MacPherson struts, and the rear has a multi-link arrangement. In this sense, everything is similar to the conventional competitor CX-5 from Mazda. The steering mechanism of the RAV4 is rack and pinion with electric power steering. The brakes are disc brakes on all wheels, the front ones are ventilated. Toyota SUVs come standard with BAS, EBD and ABS systems.

For now, we can note technical equality between the two Japanese crossovers. It's difficult to give preference to someone. To determine the favorite in the Mazda CX-5 VS Toyota RAV4 confrontation, a more in-depth comparison is required based on a number of key characteristics.

Appearance

Exterior can rightly be called the most subjective parameter when comparing two potentially equal opponents. In both cases, the design was performed at the highest professional level.

They adhere to their philosophy when creating their appearance. Mazda looks quite brutal, but at the same time sophisticated and elegant. Toyota's appearance seems more futuristic due to its narrow optics.

But in the case of the CX-5 and RAV4, the rear end was not implemented in the best way. It is somewhat discordant against the background of the lighter and neater front parts of the two crossovers. When choosing between Mazda CX5 or Toyota RAV4, you should hardly rely solely on external characteristics. Here you should put a conventional equal sign.

If you dig deeper, Mazda has one problem related specifically to its appearance. This is a serious similarity with the younger and older brothers of the CX line, as well as the use of similar design solutions, as is the case with. Against this background, the RAV4 looks preferable, since this crossover cannot be accused of being similar to other representatives of the automaker’s line. RAV4 is more distinctive and unique.

A comparison based on dry numbers, reflecting the overall dimensions of each crossover, will be much more objective. The second generation CX-5 has the following dimensions:

  • length 4555 mm;
  • wheelbase 2700 mm;
  • width 1840 mm;
  • height 1670 mm;
  • ground clearance (ground clearance) 215 mm.

Toyota still fits into the European compact class, although it is extremely close to the mid-size segment.

This is manifested in the following numbers:

  • length 4605 mm;
  • height 1670 mm;
  • width 1845 mm;
  • wheelbase 2660 mm;
  • ground clearance 197 mm.

Despite the greater length of Toyota, Mazda has superiority in wheelbase. Now it’s interesting to look at how each company managed to use the existing dimensions to implement the interior and luggage compartment.

Interior and luggage compartment

It is quite difficult to answer the question of which is better when comparing the Mazda CX5 and RAV4 compact crossovers from two leading Japanese automakers without understanding all the characteristics and aspects of the cars.

It's definitely worth a look inside. Toyota's interior looks modern, attractive and relevant for the present time. Here solutions are partially borrowed from premium crossovers produced under. In terms of organizing the internal space, there is no ergonomics or creating comfortable conditions for the driver.

The RAV4's interior is designed for 5 seats, including the driver, although the rear sofa is molded for 2 passengers. The front seats are as comfortable as possible, the lateral support is pronounced, the cushion is optimal in length, height and filling. The rear seat is spacious and comfortably accommodates 3 adult passengers. There is free space in all directions. The backrest can be adjusted according to the angle of inclination.

A space of 506 liters was allocated for the luggage compartment. The spare wheel is not full-size, but there are 2 niches for tools and other small items under the floor. The backrest of the rear row can be lowered, and a platform is created flush with the trunk floor. As a result, the usable space increases to 1705 liters. All trim levels include nets for valuable cargo.

The dashboard on the Mazda CX5 is implemented in a minimalist style, but in the center there is a 7-inch touchscreen multimedia display versus 6.1 inches of the competitor.

The interior space of the Mazda CX5 is tastefully decorated using high-quality and expensive finishing materials. This can be seen even in the poorest trim levels. All parts fit perfectly, there are no gaps, no crickets.

The salon is five-seater, the rear sofa is molded for 2 passengers, but can easily accommodate 3 adults. The filling in front of the seats is optimal in terms of rigidity, has a confident profile, good lateral support and a wide range of adjustments. There are no special complaints about the back row, but, as in Toyota, 2 people will feel as comfortable as possible.

Despite the large wheelbase, the luggage compartment in the Mazda was smaller. In standard position it holds 403 liters. The rear backrest folds down to form a flat platform with a loading volume of 1560 liters. A full-size spare tire is hidden in the underground. At an additional cost, the tailgate can be equipped with an electric drive, and even with remote control.

The RAV4's interior feels dressier and funnier, while the CX-5's interior is restrained and austere in places. But in both cases, an impressive amount of space, high-quality finishing materials, and excellent assembly are offered. Toyota managed to offer a more spacious luggage compartment, while not being inferior to Mazda in terms of comfort for rear passengers. Therefore, the RAV4 crossover is leading by a small margin.

Motors, gearboxes and their capabilities

The second generation Mazda CX5 arrived in Russia with 2 naturally aspirated gasoline engines. Both represent the Skyactive-G family.

  1. The base engine is a 2.0-liter internal combustion engine with 4 cylinders. It produces 150 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission to choose from. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
  2. The older engine offers 2.5 liters, 4 cylinders and 192 horses with 256 Nm of torque. A conditional disadvantage of the motor is the lack of ability to select a gearbox and drive. There is no alternative to this internal combustion engine with all-wheel drive and an automatic transmission.

Depending on the engine and drive, the CX5 accelerates from zero to hundreds in 7.9-9.4 seconds, and the maximum speed ranges from 187 to 197 kilometers per hour. In the combined cycle, aspirated engines consume a modest 6.2 and 7.3 liters of gasoline with the junior and senior engines, respectively.

When choosing between the Mazda CX-5 crossover or Toyota RAV4 SUV, you need to take a look at what the conventional competitor has to offer.

Toyota in fact does not give more choices, while offering 2 types of drives, 3 gearboxes and 3 motors on the Russian market.

  1. In the basic configuration, the car is equipped with a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated internal combustion engine with a power of 146 horsepower and 187 Nm of torque. It can work in conjunction with a 6-speed manual or CVT. The drive is all-wheel drive, front-wheel drive. Depending on the equipment, acceleration takes from 11.3 to 10.2 seconds, and the maximum speed is the same everywhere, and is 180 kilometers per hour. Consumption varies from 7.4 to 7.8 liters per 100 km.
  2. The top-end gasoline engine is a 2.5-liter unit with 4 cylinders and 180 hp. With. with a torque of 233 Nm. The engine can only be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It accelerates from zero to hundreds in 9.4 seconds, and the maximum speed does not exceed 180 kilometers per hour. In the combined cycle, 8.6 liters of gasoline are consumed.
  3. One diesel version is represented by a 2.2-liter internal combustion engine with 150 horsepower and 340 Nm. It is equipped only with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. It goes from zero to hundreds in 10 seconds, and the maximum speed does not go beyond 185 kilometers per hour. But in the combined cycle it consumes 6.7 liters of diesel fuel.

In terms of fuel consumption, Mazda wins. Plus, this crossover has better dynamics and maximum speed. Only the diesel version of Toyota can offer fuel consumption that is close in value.

But in the component of choosing characteristics, both manufacturers have rather limited their clients. The right to choose is essentially only available in the case of base engines. Other modifications are strictly limited in the combination of gearbox, motor and drive.

In this comparison, the compact crossover produced by Mazda looks more attractive. But only passport details are indicated here. In practice, both cars consume more fuel.

Further comparison will allow us to get one step closer to answering the question of which SUV is better if you choose between such monsters as the Mazda CX5 and Toyota RAV4.

The safety of both crossovers turned out to be at the highest level and exemplary for many competitors. If you want to compare the Mazda CX5 and Toyota RAV4 crossovers with each other, trying to find the safest car, this is unlikely to be possible. They are too equal to each other.

As for handling on asphalt, Mazda has the upper hand. The car is surprisingly light, obedient, dynamic and sometimes airy. Toyota is more clumsy, strict and straightforward. Mazda corners perfectly, practically does not fall over, and firmly holds onto the asphalt. Here the RAV4 looks somewhat more modest and simpler.

If you like a more dynamic ride, then choose the CX5. A complete feeling of drive, even with the base engine. With a small difference in power, the base engine on the RAV4 cannot provide the same dynamics.

In off-road conditions, the all-wheel drive Toyota behaves much more confidently. Having driven into the sand, Mazda's all-wheel drive will immediately turn into front-wheel drive. The car is clearly not designed for such conditions. But the RAV4 should not be deliberately sent for testing in sand, swamp or gravel. You can get stuck or at least damage the body.

Since we are talking about urban crossovers, it is not entirely correct to compare cars based on off-road characteristics. If you plan to go to the countryside or occasionally go fishing, give preference to the RAV4. The CX-5 is especially suitable for a city dweller and a drive enthusiast.

In terms of maintenance costs, there is approximate parity between the machines. Although Toyota has a shorter service interval, which forces owners of the new crossover to carry out maintenance more often. And therefore the costs are somewhat higher.

Spare parts for Mazda are slightly more expensive than for Toyota. Still, the Toyota brand is more widespread and introduced into Russian realities than its competitor.

The CX-5 wins in the fuel consumption department when compared to gasoline versions. The engines in both cases are naturally aspirated, and therefore there are no additional costs for the turbine. You can put an equal sign in this component.

The restyled version of the 4th generation Toyota RAV4, which is relevant for Russia, is offered in 7 configuration options, where the simplest version will cost 1.5 million rubles. For the top package you will have to pay at least 2.24 million rubles.

Available in only 3 trim levels. The basic version in 2019 starts at 1.58 million rubles, while the richest configuration costs no less than 2.5 million.

Mazda turned out to be slightly more expensive than Toyota, but given such a budget there is practically no fundamental difference in price.

Mazda has in its database:

  • 6 airbags;
  • 17-inch steel wheels;
  • radio with 4 speakers;
  • heated front seats;
  • air conditioner;
  • ABS, ESP, BA, EBD, etc.

At the top, the buyer receives dual-zone climate control, alloy wheels, a multimedia kit, leather interior, LED optics, electric drive for the front seats, a rear view camera, keyless entry, etc.

The basic Toyota package includes:

  • 7 airbags;
  • LED rear lights;
  • LED DRLs;
  • fog lights;
  • light sensor;
  • electric windows on all doors;
  • air conditioner;
  • audio recorder with 4 speakers;
  • hill start assistant;
  • ABS, EBD, EBS, TRC, VSC, TSC, etc.

If you are ready to take the top version, then you will additionally receive full LED optics, a multimedia kit, a panoramic viewing system, dual-zone climate control, blind spot monitoring, leather interior, etc.

Despite the more modest price tag, Toyota offers a little more for its crossover in terms of equipment for the base and top-end versions. Mazda is inferior, but not by much. Much depends on what the buyer actually needs.

Now all that remains is to take stock and decide what is better to choose between the RAV4 and CX5 crossovers from two leading Japanese manufacturers.

When making a choice, you should rely not only on the opinion of experts, since each specialist starts from partially subjective judgments. You need to take into account your own wishes and requirements for the car.

In many respects, the two crossovers are similar to each other. But they are still different. Mazda's character can be described as more windy, dynamic and aggressive. Here you get a premium quality interior, extremely mischievous and exciting handling. The CX-5's off-road performance is noticeably inferior to the RAV4 and also offers more modest cargo space. If you expect maximum emotions from a car, take Mazda.

Toyota RAV4 is created for more rational and pedantic people. Everything is done at the highest level, the interior is spacious, the trunk is large, and the driving characteristics are balanced. With such a car you can drive in the city, outside the city and even outside the asphalt. If you want a practical car, perhaps even for a family, and also require at least minimal off-road capabilities, choose a Toyota.

Cars with conventionally increased cross-country ability are one of the most important classes of new transport in Russia. The point is that vehicles of this type purely visually resemble SUVs, and therefore have certain operating benefits in terms of style. Of course, some cars can offer quite good cross-country ability, especially in expensive trim levels with all-wheel drive and all the functions of a real SUV. But do not forget that you are dealing with a crossover. A high-quality and conveniently assembled SUV is no longer a rarity; many companies have offered Russian buyers very attractive cars with excellent design, good quality and excellent technical characteristics. However, not all off-road vehicles are worthy of attention.

Today we will look at three very popular and very interesting crossovers that can provide amazing competition in the market and actually become first in all ratings. Updates to these cars cause a real sensation in the world of automotive journalism, and all new technical products are worthy of detailed articles for several spreads in expensive magazines. So a comparison of the Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4 and Ford Kuga, presented in Russia, will obviously not be superfluous. Corporations from Japan and the USA have received excellent opportunities to realize their potential in the global market and have become one of the most respected. Not least of all, the reason for this was the development of such amazing crossovers with enormous technical capabilities. Let's compare the characteristics, prices and configurations of the top three.

Mazda CX-5 is a fresh model with excellent technology

The machine appeared relatively recently, but has already won amazing customer reviews. This car takes a lot from its big brother CX-7, but also retains the authenticity and uniqueness that allows the Japanese to sell cars in all target markets. Appearing in 2011, the model updated its style already in 2014. Today, the car is sold in this year’s version, setting a certain high bar for lovers of Japanese active and functional technology. Very expressive technical capabilities make the machine even more desirable, and the high-quality assembly and excellent execution of each module amaze with its precision. The main features of the machine are as follows:

  • the base engine is represented by a 2-liter gasoline unit with a potential of 150 horsepower, there is also a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and 192 horsepower for the top;
  • a diesel unit with a volume of 2.2 liters comes in two versions - 150 or 175 horses, but in Russia only the more powerful power plant is available;
  • basic versions with the lowest engine have front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, as well as automatic or manual; other versions have only automatic and AWD;
  • Fuel consumption on all power plants is very reasonable compared to its competitors, the car saves you money on purchasing gasoline and diesel fuel;
  • the modules of this transport do not require repair work, since the quality of workmanship is at the highest level that the Japanese can demonstrate;
  • The design of the interior indicates that the assembly is carried out using extremely high technologies, the most expensive and suitable materials are selected.

These are just a few of the benefits of the Mazda CX-5 that can be described in words. In fact, the car is simply amazing, it offers the highest comfort for city travel, takes care of every movement and turns it into a pleasant driving experience. Driving a Mazda, you will not feel any negative features of the trip even on a fairly bad road. The suspension technologies have been very successfully developed, the car has taken into account all the features of Russian operation, so many buyers strive to purchase a good Mazda CX-5 package, filled with amazing technologies for a comfortable ride. True, the car costs less than 1,350,000 rubles, which is quite a lot.

Toyota RAV4 - restyling of the most popular SUV

The Toyota RAV4 has been repeatedly called the most popular and sophisticated crossover of all time. The car has excellent technical capabilities, pleasant ride features and a very interesting appearance. The RAV 4 always remains a desirable product on the crossover market, but we must admit that the price of the car is also growing quite quickly. With the presentation of the restyled version, the corporation significantly increases its position in the market, but the price tags are also growing systematically, moving into the elite class. The main features of the machine are as follows:

  • the new appearance becomes an incredibly important sales feature of the car, demonstrating the excellent technological features of the vehicle;
  • the base engine for Russia is a 2-liter gasoline unit with a potential of 146 horsepower; for Europe they also supply a 2-liter diesel engine with 143 horsepower;
  • the diesel unit is represented by a 2.2-liter engine with a potential of 150 horsepower, as well as excellent traction and very active torque;
  • the senior unit is a 2.5-liter car monster that is capable of developing 180 horsepower and providing real activity while driving;
  • for the younger engine, manual transmissions or CVT, all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive are available, for older engines only automatic and all-wheel drive are available;
  • The car represents the most advanced Japanese technologies, which turn out to be simply an amazing solution for everyone who loves comfort.

This car will easily handle difficult conditions and will become one of the best representatives of the segment for many buyers. What is presented here is not just conventionally increased cross-country ability; the Toyota RAV4 can actually surprise every buyer with its potential. It’s interesting that buyers from a variety of social backgrounds, ages and lifestyles leave only positive reviews about the car and offer simply amazing thoughts and comparisons with other crossovers. Ravchik remains one of the leaders in the ranking, despite a certain loss of popularity in recent years. The base price of the machine is 1,250,000 rubles.

Ford Kuga is an excellent American competitor for the Japanese

American equipment in Russia is often sold quite hard due to the cost and some cultural differences between countries. However, many admit that cars from the USA are simply amazing and can greatly please the owner with their technical characteristics, appearance and control features. In fact, these cars received many amazing technical characteristics; Kuga became the crowning achievement of engineers. Today, the current version of the crossover presents the following important aspects and subtleties:

  • the appearance of the car has remained the same since 2012, the car already wants an update, but so far it hasn’t come to this model, however, Kuga does not look outdated;
  • Not all engines of the Kuga family are represented in Russia; the base unit is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, available only with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive;
  • We also sell a car with a 1.6 EcoBoost turbocharged engine with 150 horsepower, automatic or manual (the manual is available with front-wheel drive);
  • the oldest and most expensive power unit for Russia - a 1.6-liter EcoBoost in a more powerful version with 182 horsepower with automatic transmission and AWD;
  • the vehicle's cross-country ability turns out to be quite active, the transport offers very convenient opportunities to overcome a variety of obstacles on the road and beyond;
  • In the basic equipment of the vehicle you can find many active advantages associated specifically with its American origin.

Corporations in America are accustomed to fighting for buyers in terms of money, but surprising them with design and technical characteristics. In the United States, the market for off-road vehicles is quite active, so local models are forced to constantly find themselves in difficult competitive relationships with rivals. This once again proves that the Ford Kuga is a great buy with very good performance capabilities. Today, the market for off-road vehicles is expanding and offering more and more new models. But there are certain classics that remain one of the best solutions in their segment.
