Weaknesses of the Chevrolet Cruze station wagon. Chevrolet Cruze: the pros and cons of the car

He was very popular among Russians. The low cost, three body types, and a spacious interior by the standards of the class did their job.

Body and electrical

The body is galvanized and successfully resists corrosion. But the paintwork is not the most durable. Already by 30–40 thousand kilometers, the surface can be damaged by a large number of chips. Even a small stone is enough to break through the paintwork and reach the ground. And thin metal favors dents even from light contacts.

The interior is also not particularly durable. The seat upholstery fabric loses its presentable appearance after just two years of ownership. At the same time, “crickets” take up residence in the salon. One of the main weak points is the trunk release button, which often fails after the first winters. Of course, then the trunk can be opened with a button on the key. But it’s better not to delay repairs or replacement, because a broken “opener” can completely discharge a healthy battery, and you simply won’t be able to start the car.

There are questions about the efficiency of the heating system - frosting and fogging of the front windows is quite common. As well as water on the front right passenger's carpet. The drain pipe of the air conditioning system runs exactly under the front panel, and if it comes off or the drain hole becomes clogged, water is immediately sent into the cabin.

Engine

Many Cruzes are equipped with the good old 1.6-liter F16D3 unit, known from the Lacetti and Aveo. The engine is quite unpretentious and reliable. Without interventions, he calmly nurses for 250–300 thousand kilometers. At this mileage, as a rule, all repairs come down to replacing the valve stem seals. When choosing a car with such an engine, it is better to immediately, for prevention, replace the timing belt. According to the regulations, it lasts 60 thousand kilometers, and in the event of a break, it will inevitably bend the valves. Then expensive repairs are guaranteed. On other engines, the belt is changed every 150 thousand kilometers, but for peace of mind this interval should be reduced to 100 thousand.

It is worth listening to the engine. Many copies suffer from extraneous noise, the culprit of which is the timing belt tensioner pulley, which tightens the belt too much. Moreover, the Lacetti had no such problems on the same engine. Cruise's tension roller has been modified and the spring stiffness has been increased. That’s why many owners either install a Lacetti roller or manually weaken the spring. A clogged EGR system valve also causes trouble, which inevitably leads to increased fuel consumption. If you are not very concerned about the environment, instead of repairing the system, you can programmatically turn it off. Also check if the lambda probe has been changed. It can safely be classified as a consumable, since there are frequent cases of breakdowns even during the warranty period.

There are many cars with Ecotec series engines with a displacement of 1.6 and 1.8 liters (indexes F16D4 and F18D4, respectively), which are also found on many Opels. Cars of the first years of production often have problems with the CVCP variable valve timing system, which is very sensitive to the condition of the lubrication system and the level of engine oil. Due to oil starvation, gear failures due to shock loads are common. At the end of 2009, the problem was eliminated by installing reinforced elements of the system. And in 2011, a slightly modified version of the F16D4 with a power of 124 hp appeared. (the increase was 10 hp).

We also have cars with a 1.4 liter supercharged engine, familiar from the Opel Astra J. But there are few such examples on the market. As well as diesel modifications.

Transmission

The Chevrolet Cruze used a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission as a transmission. A manual transmission is characterized by twitching that appears after 70–80 thousand kilometers when switching from first to second gear. This is due to the failure of the clutch disc due to a violation of the geometry of the damper springs, which is associated with a factory miscalculation. Many owners, when symptoms appeared, replaced the original clutch with non-original analogues, and the problem disappeared. Mechanics are also prone to transmission oil leakage. Seals can leak after 20–25 thousand kilometers. Therefore, be sure to inspect the copy you like for smudges.

As an automatic transmission on the Cruise, a proven Jimmy 6-speed hydromechanical 6T30 was used. Among six-speed gearboxes, this is perhaps one of the most reliable transmissions. Nevertheless, it does have weaknesses. Be sure to go to higher gears during your test drive. After 150–160 thousand kilometers, some cars may experience dips when shifting between fourth, fifth and sixth gears. Sometimes the highest levels can be completely “lost.” The culprit is worn channels in the valve body. An expensive unit can be repaired, but even in this case the costs will be enormous. Therefore, for prevention, it is worth changing the oil more often, and in this case the transmission will last quite a long time.

Chassis

Chevrolet Cruze is built on the global Delta II platform, which it shares with the Opel Astra J and Chevrolet Aveo. Therefore, it is related to them not only by the units, but also by the chassis with its problems. Most cars (if not all) suffer from squealing noise from their front brake calipers. It is caused by play in the guide fingers. Replacement, if it helps, will not last long. The most effective way to combat this is to apply thick grease to the guides. Although this will only be a temporary solution. Another weak link in the braking system is the rapid wear of the front brake discs, which are made of low-quality metal. They may require replacement at 30 thousand kilometers.

Brake calipers are not the only source of extraneous sounds in the chassis. The shock absorbers, both front and rear, are also talkative. This is due to the design miscalculation of the bypass valves. The unpleasant sound does not affect performance in any way. The problem is primarily typical for pre-restyling cars. But Cruz did not get rid of the knocking of the front stabilizer struts. Support bearings are more reliable, but in some cars there are cases of their premature failure.

The steering does not have outstanding reliability for its class, but up to 100 thousand kilometers there is nothing to worry about. The main thing is to listen to the operation of the power steering pump. Its bearings turned out to be weak, which is why a characteristic hum and micro-wedges appear. As a result, the already not the most productive unit creates insufficient pressure in the system, which can lead to premature wear of the steering rack. The situation is aggravated by pipelines of complex shape, which also do not contribute to reliable oil circulation.

Despite the list of characteristic problems, the Chevrolet Cruze cannot be called a capricious car. In addition, it is relatively inexpensive to repair and maintain. It's no surprise that Cruz has become popular among taxi drivers. So when choosing a car, beware of cars with an opaque service history. There is a high probability that you may run into a beat-up taxi with a twisted mileage.

For General Motors dealers, the Chevrolet Cruze is one of the sales locomotives, as the car has recently been experiencing a second life. The fact is that sales of the restyled version have recently started, and as a result, more and more offers of 2-3 year old Chevrolet Cruze are appearing on the secondary market. Like any used car, this model has a number of disadvantages that you should pay attention to before purchasing, we’ll talk about them now

Not much history.

The Chevrolet Cruze was developed by General Motors to replace the Chevrolet Lacetti, which was quite in demand at that time - this car was so popular in our market that for another two years both cars were sold simultaneously. The platform on which the car is built was borrowed from the OPEL Astra G. Serial production started in 2009 and continues to this day. The car is assembled in Korea, in Russia at a plant near St. Petersburg, and since 2010 in Kazakhstan at AsiaAuto.

Disadvantages that you should pay attention to when choosing a used Chevrolet Cruze

There are many complaints about the quality of the paintwork, the joining of body elements, as well as the quality of chrome. If the front bumper does not fit tightly to the fender, this does not mean that the car was involved in an accident. The fact is that for the exterior decoration of the car, the manufacturer used weak clips and harsh plastic, which are subject to deformation due to temperature changes. Sometimes there is a violation of the integrity of the paintwork at the joints of body parts, but even in places where the paint is chipped, the body resists the onslaught of the red disease quite well.

Power garegat

The line of Chevrolet Cruze power units includes two naturally aspirated gasoline engines 1.6 (109 and 124 hp) and 1.8 (141 hp), a 1.4 turbo engine (138 hp), as well as one diesel engine with a volume of 2.0 ( 150 hp). The 1.6 engine is well known to many car enthusiasts from the Chevrolet Latchetti; it is considered the most reliable and problem-free. One of the unpleasant little things that owners encounter is the appearance of carbon deposits on the valves, which can cause the valves to become stuck.

Over time, on all engines, oil begins to leak from under the valve cover, the problem is solved by replacing the gasket, but due to the fact that the material from which the gasket is made quickly loses its elasticity, this procedure will have to be carried out every 50 - 60 thousand km. Also, over time, the valve covers can become loose; this is quite easy to check; you need to unscrew the spark plugs and check for oil in the spark plug wells. Another problem that owners of cars with a 1.6 engine very often encounter is the engine stalling at idle (the reason for this feature has not been identified). On some cars, reflashing and cleaning the throttle valve helps solve the problem.

The 1.8 engine was borrowed from the Opel Astra, and its chronic problem went along with the engine. The engine has a well-known drawback - the intake and exhaust camshaft gears fail. More than 30% of Chevrolet Cruze owners with a 1.8 ECOTEC engine face this problem. The main cause of gear failure is oil starvation, so to avoid costly repairs, you need to carefully monitor the oil level. Another reason may be the failure of the solenoid valve, which fails due to clogging of the solenoid mesh. Signs of this problem are a strong roar immediately after starting a cold engine, as well as poor traction.

Engines 1.4 and 2.0 are very rare on the secondary market, and there are not many reviews about them on forums, so there is simply nowhere to get statistics. The only thing that can be said about the diesel engine is that it is the most dynamic in the line (acceleration from 0 to 100 in 9.4 seconds), and the most economical (average consumption 5.5 - 6.5 liters per hundred). The fuel consumption of gasoline engines in the urban cycle is 10–14 liters per hundred, on the highway – about 7.5 liters per 100 km.

The following types of gearboxes were available for the Chevrolet Cruze: five- and six-speed manual, as well as a six-speed automatic with manual shifting. Both transmissions can hardly be called problematic, but minor troubles still happen. A manual transmission sometimes produces an unpleasant hum, and problems with the release bearing are also possible. Many owners have already experienced shock when a manual transmission jams at speed, the reason for this is a collapsed plastic bushing in the switching mechanism; the problem is eliminated inexpensively and for a long time. There are a few more problems with the automatic transmission; owners often complain about its not entirely adequate behavior (the box periodically drops speed when you don’t expect it at all), this drawback is eliminated by flashing the electronic control unit. It is not recommended to take a car with a 1.6 engine paired with an automatic transmission; in this combination, the transmission causes the most problems, but they also appear after 100,000 km.

Drive quality of the Chevrolet Cruze

The suspension of this car can hardly be called unreliable, but as often happens with used cars, there comes a time when a number of little things appear that bother the owners. The most common of them is the rattling of the suspension in the pits. The source of unpleasant sounds is the shock absorber struts; this problem is present not only on this model, but also on other models of the Chevrolet and Opel concerns. The knocking appears at 15 - 20 thousand kilometers, and the cause of this knocking is the bypass valve. The chassis life is not much different from other cars in this segment, and capital investments in this unit will have to be made every 60 - 80 thousand km, depending on operating conditions and driving style.

Salon

The first thing you will have to face when choosing a used Chevrolet Cruze is that many of these cars served in taxi fleets, especially cars with a 1.6 engine. In such cars, the steering wheel, seats, pedals and gear knob are usually replaced with new ones, and if you find a car with a mileage of 60,000 km or more with an ideal interior condition, the probability that the mileage was changed and the interior parts were changed is 99%. And no matter how they prove to you that they used the car carefully, drove it only to the dacha, you should know that these are all tricks of resellers. The interior trim materials are of average quality and traces of use (such as small abrasions) appear on them after 40 - 50 thousand km, even with very careful use. They will look new only if you do not remove the factory film until the time of sale.

Some owners discover moisture under the front passenger's carpet; a slipped hose from the drainage system is to blame. Most often, this problem occurs on cars that have an alarm installed. Often the cause of moisture in the cabin is poor-quality sealing of the windshield and rear window seals, and if you find moisture in the trunk, you will need to replace the rear light seals.

Result:

The Chevrolet Cruze is a fairly reliable and comfortable car. Yes, it has its problems and shortcomings, but you must admit that any car has them, and not only in this price range. The price for the new Cruz starts at 15,000 USD, but as for me, this car is not worth that kind of money, and for a 2-3-year-old used copy in good configuration they ask for 7 - 10 thousand USD. – and this is a completely reasonable price. A correctly selected car will delight you for tens of thousands of kilometers.

Advantages:

  • Design and interior.
  • Spacious interior.
  • Simple and inexpensive to maintain.
  • The reliability of engines is time-tested.
  • Mechanical transmission.

Flaws:

  • Weak paintwork.
  • The dynamics of cars with 1.6 and 1.8 engines are not enough.
  • Prices for original components.
  • Suspension is noisy.
  • Small automatic transmission resource.
  • Interior finishing materials quickly lose their presentation.

If you are or were the owner of this car brand, please share your experience, indicating the strengths and weaknesses of the car. Perhaps your review will help others correctly .

The Chevrolet Cruze sedan was officially introduced in 2008. In many markets it replaced the Daewoo Lacetti and Chevrolet Cobalt. In 2010, a five-door hatchback version debuted. In the winter of 2012, another body variant appeared in the lineup - this time a station wagon.

In 2012, Chevrolet carried out a restyling. The changes made are almost invisible. The designers carefully adjusted the bumper, grille and fog lights. A touch screen was installed inside, used to work with the MyLink system. In addition, the engine line has been expanded, which includes a new diesel engine with a displacement of 1.7 liters and a power of 130 hp.

Technical features

The Chevrolet Cruze was produced in various parts of the world - in Russia, South Korea, the USA, Kazakhstan, Brazil and China. As for the design, it does not differ much from the generally accepted standards in the class. The car is built on the GM Delta II platform, shared with the Opel Astra J.

All Cruze variants are front-wheel drive only. Depending on the engine, a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, or a 6-speed automatic transmission can be installed. The front suspension is based on MacPherson struts, and the rear suspension is a torsion beam. Simple but reliable!

According to the results of Euro NCAP crash tests, the car received a very high rating - 5 stars.

Engines

Gasoline:

R4 1.4 Turbo (140hp)

R4 1.6 (113-124 hp)

R4 1.8 (141 hp)

Diesel:

R4 1.7 (130 hp)

R4 2.0 (125-150 hp) – a product of the Italian diesel engine manufacturer VM Motori

R4 2.0 (163 hp)

All of the above petrol units of the Ecotec series are well known from Opel cars. Engines in most cases do not pose serious problems. However, sometimes minor troubles happen. For example, owners regularly encounter oil leaks (from under the valve covers) or high oil consumption due to waste.

Chevrolets with Opel 1.6 and 1.8 XER did not avoid the “generic” diesel shift of the valve timing gears, which appears closer to 100,000 km. You have to change either the solenoid valves of the phase regulator (4,000 rubles) or the gears themselves (8,000 rubles).

Another unpleasant ailment is failure of the engine control unit. This happens due to water entering the unit (during washing the engine compartment or rain) and subsequent oxidation of the electronic board. For a new block of a 1.6-liter unit you will have to pay 10,000 rubles, and for a 1.8-liter unit - 20,000 rubles.

After 80-100 thousand km, sometimes the thermostat gives out: the heating element fails, or the housing cracks. A new thermostat is available for 3,000 rubles. By this time, the heat exchanger gaskets are tanned, which leads to mixing of antifreeze with oil. To fix the problem it will take about 10,000 rubles. In addition to the thermostat, the throttle valve heating tube can also leak (from 1,000 rubles) - it cracks from old age.

After 80-120 thousand km, misfires occur due to cracking of the ignition module housing. The cost of a new module is from 4,000 rubles.

The 1.4 Turbo downsizing unit is still very young, and it is too early to judge its reliability. However, here, too, the durability of the ignition module and thermostat does not differ, and in some units the pistons even burned out.

When choosing a Cruze with a gasoline engine, you should forget about sporting ambitions. But on the other hand, the dynamics of the naturally aspirated 1.8 and 1.4 Turbo are quite sufficient - acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10.2 and 9.5 seconds, respectively. In city traffic conditions, the car, depending on the engine size and its power, consumes from 9 to 11-12 l/100 km.

In addition to gasoline units, the engine range includes two diesel engines of 1.7 and 2.0 liters. The latest turbodiesel is available in three power options - from 125 to 163 hp. What worries them most often?

When used primarily in the city, there are problems with the particulate filter. The VM Motori-sourced 2-litre diesel can be found in the Hyundai i30, where it often suffers from dual-mass flywheel and turbocharger woes. However, owners of diesel Cruze have not yet encountered such problems.

Turbodiesels demonstrate a high level of performance and flexibility. The weakest 125-horsepower engine accelerates the car to the first hundred in just 10 seconds, and the strongest - in less than 9 seconds. At the same time, diesel engines pleasantly surprise with their low fuel consumption. So a 163-horsepower unit burns about 8.5 l/100 km in city traffic. It’s even scary to think how economical weaker engines are. But, in the end, the money saved will most likely be used for expensive repairs in the future.

Transmission

Surprisingly, all gearboxes suffer from one common ailment - a leaking drive shaft oil seal. The defect appears after 30-90 thousand km, and you have to pay about 3,000 rubles to eliminate it.

The least reliable was the automatic transmission (6T30/40/45). Previously, automatic machines barely reached 100,000 km. In 2014, a number of modifications were made, including installing an additional radiator, strengthening the drum and reverse. This slightly increased the life of the automatic transmission before the first repair. The machine is very sensitive to the condition of the oil, which is recommended to be updated every 20-40 thousand km. To restore the box at the service center they will ask for 60-70 thousand rubles.

Chassis

Owners often complain about knocking in the suspension. Most often, stabilizer struts, shock absorbers, and sometimes levers are to blame for this. Sometimes problems appear after just a few tens of thousands of kilometers. Wheel bearings typically last more than 100,000 km.

Body and interior

Body elements are made of thin sheet metal, which remains dents even after a relatively minor impact. The quality of the paintwork leaves much to be desired. Fortunately, the metal in the chipped areas is in no hurry to bloom, and there are no complaints about corrosion yet.

Sometimes the flimsy mounting of the front and rear bumpers is upsetting. Over time, it sags and a gap forms. To eliminate the problem, it is necessary to replace the brackets. The rear bumper fastening latches are also not strong.

There are also complaints about interior finishing materials. Even with low mileage, signs of wear appear on the seats, steering wheel and silver inserts on the front panel. The rest of the plastic in the cabin is also easily scratched.

Other problems and malfunctions

There are also problems with the head unit, which eventually stops reading discs. The trunk lock also adds negativity. Moisture gets in and it starts to fail. Nothing serious, but sometimes it is very annoying. In this case, replacing the button will help (from 800 rubles).

The central locking sometimes takes on a life of its own, as do the electric windows. Parking sensors are also short-lived (from 1,500 rubles).

Often you have to replace a faulty seat heating element, which can sometimes even burn through the upholstery. And after 50-100 thousand km, the heater fan often begins to make noise (from 3,000 rubles) - the fan axle bushings become dirty or worn out.

Problems with the air conditioning system may arise due to a malfunction of the BCM electronic unit. It is possible to bring the system back to life after resetting the terminals from the battery.

Often, after 80-120 thousand km, the damper rods responsible for mixing warm and cold air break. In this case, cold air blows from the left, and hot air from the right. Problems with flow distribution also arise due to premature wear of the plastic damper drive gears.

Impression

The compact Chevrolet Cruze is the best proof that a budget car does not have to be spartan and boring. The modern, stylish look encourages you to take a closer look. After just one look, it's clear that the Cruze drives very well, is decently equipped, and has trunk space superior to many of its more upmarket competitors. The vast majority of examples available on the secondary market were sold through official dealers and many of them are still under warranty. This makes it easier to find a well-maintained car.

However, a more detailed study reveals a number of shortcomings. First of all, we are concerned about the very low quality of some finishing materials, high fuel consumption of powerful gasoline engines, mediocre dynamic characteristics and minor malfunctions. However, despite its flaws, the Cruze is a very attractive proposition for those looking for a fresh compact at a reasonable price.

And the configuration, but also the body type, buyers of this car come in a variety of varieties. These are young people, for whom the main thing is the dynamics and appearance of the car, and they are not at all interested in how much space there is in the trunk; and older people, for whom comfort and functionality come first. Moreover, the former, as a rule, prefer a hatchback, while the latter prefer a more impressive sedan or a station wagon with a large trunk volume.

What attracts buyers of the Chevrolet Cruze?

Reviews from the owners of this car mainly praise the comfortable, ergonomic interior, good handling of the car (the car handles the road excellently), as well as a very spacious trunk. Absolutely everyone who has ever driven this car as a driver agrees that all the buttons and levers are in their places, so finding what you need won’t be difficult, even if it’s your first time behind the wheel. But the Chevrolet Cruze engine causes a mixed reaction. Moreover, this applies to both 1.6-liter and 1.8-liter engines. For some, it is “dumb” even with a manual transmission at its maximum capacity, while others believe that 1.6 liters is enough for the car. This difference in opinion is likely due to different riding styles. For those who prefer a quieter mode, 1.6 is quite enough, but if a person is used to constantly driving with the gas pedal to the floor, then 1.8 will seem rather weak to him.

Operation of the Chevrolet Cruze on domestic roads

Regardless of the modification chosen, this car’s ground clearance is only 14.5 cm. For a sedan, and even more so a station wagon, this is a lot. But considering the fact that our roads in some places are one big hole, it’s better to drive it more carefully. According to official data, this model has a ground clearance of 160 mm, but absolutely all owners are unanimous that the manufacturer’s data is overestimated. In fact, the ground clearance is approximately the same for the Lacetti, the Ford Focus, and other sedans, including the Chevrolet Cruze. Reviews from owners, however, rarely talk about problems arising due to low ground clearance, but you still shouldn’t storm curbs and dashing over speed bumps in this car, especially if it’s a station wagon. You can, of course, try to solve this problem by replacing the standard 16-inch wheels with 17-inch ones, but this will not change the situation globally.

About the disadvantages of the Chevrolet Cruze

In general, the Chevrolet Cruze is a good car with unpretentiousness, low maintenance costs and the absence of serious design flaws.

At the same time, the car is not without its shortcomings, some of which can be easily eliminated, but there are also breakdowns that require significant time and money to eliminate.

According to reviews from car owners, the main advantages and disadvantages of the Chevrolet Cruze are shown in the table below.

Pros of the carCons of the car
Spacious interior and spacious trunk, especially in the station wagonInsufficient sound insulation
Available tuningPendant with elements made of plastic
The car is easy to start in the cold seasonWeak paintwork on the front bumper and hood. Finding a used car with normal paintwork is very difficult.
Solid car dimensionsStandard brakes often overheat, as a result of which you have to look towards perforated and ceramic discs.

Overview of the engine compartment and related problems

Most often, Chevrolet Cruze car owners complain about leaking valve cover gaskets. The driver may encounter this malfunction with a mileage of about 70-90 thousand km. This problem mainly occurs due to the fact that the air recirculation valve is clogged. As a result, the internal pressure increases and the oil begins to be forced through the gasket.

The crankshaft seals also “sweat”. When overcoming 100 thousand km, significant oil leaks appear. Grease getting on the pulley and belt very often shortens their service life.

Engines of 1.6 and 1.8 liters have common weak points. They are connected to variable valve timing clutches. These sores migrated from the engine installed on the Opel Astra.

The electronic thermostat does not always work correctly. As a result of a malfunction of the temperature sensor, the cooling system fan begins to operate only in one of the positions:

  • always on;
  • switched off.

In the cooling system, leaks are sometimes observed through the thermostat sealing ring. A car owner may encounter such a problem with a mileage of 12-15 thousand km.

Many car owners report strange sounds coming from the engine compartment. One of them is the power steering hum. The malfunction occurs at speeds of about 40-60 km/h. In some cases, changing the power steering oil will correct the problem. The problem occurs when the vehicle has driven more than 30 thousand km.

Unlike a Chevrolet Cruze with a manual gearbox, the automatic often overheats, so the car with MT is more reliable. The manual transmission runs up to 250 thousand km without major repairs. Many owners of cars with automatic transmissions decide to install an additional radiator to eliminate overheating problems.

The operation of the automatic transmission after the oil temperature has exceeded is very often accompanied by jerks, jolts and slow gear changes. In most cases, the situation can be corrected only by major repairs.

A common problem is floating speed. The reasons for their appearance are very different. There is no single method to fix the problem. Most often, a problem that causes unstable operation of the internal combustion engine can be found in the ignition system or fuel supply.

When faced with a clogged fuel filter, the car owner will face trouble from the Chevrolet Cruze designers.

There is no service hatch under the rear seats, so to access the fuel pump you need to remove the gas tank. This operation can only be performed using an inspection hole or a lift.

The ignition module also brings surprises. Due to small design miscalculations, breakdown of the insulation of the coils very often occurs. The problem usually appears after a mileage of 60 thousand km. As a result, the engine stops working stably. Power drops. The dynamics are getting worse. Fuel consumption increases.

Problems with external body elements

Many car owners note that the paintwork on the Chevrolet Cruze leaves much to be desired. The paintwork is soft and practically does not resist road sand and gravel. The main chips appear on the hood, front bumper, and radiator grille.

On cars with mileage of more than 80 thousand km, you can find rusty streaks in the area of the wheel arches. In general, the anti-corrosion treatment does not cause any particular complaints.

Almost every car owner has encountered a malfunctioning trunk button. This is due to a design miscalculation, as a result of which a leaky button often comes under the influence of moisture. There is still no single way to eliminate this problem. Some owners decide to install a button in the interior to solve this problem.

Another minor nuisance is the formation of a gap between the fender and the bumper. This is due not so much to the design of the bumper as to the clips that hold it. Due to temperature changes, the caps become soft and elastic. As a result, the bumper gradually moves away and a gap appears, which worsens the appearance of the car. Dirt can also accumulate in this gap.

Chassis

The rear suspension of the car does not cause any complaints, but the same cannot be said about the front. On many cars, silent blocks of levers break after driving more than 80 thousand km. Another trouble with the Chevrolet Cruze is frequent knocking in the suspension.

According to experienced car owners, they are connected with the use of power parts made of plastic. During operation, they wear out quickly, which is especially aggravated by frequent trips to country roads with poor surfaces.

Interior space

The quality of plastic in the Chevrolet Cruze interior is at a high level. Crickets are found only on heavily worn cars, the mileage of which exceeds 400 thousand km. The advantages of the salon do not end there. During operation, the car owner can identify the following advantages:

  • comfortable fit;
  • good review;
  • pleasant-to-touch seat upholstery;
  • comfortable pedal placement.

A minor problem is the rubbing of the steering wheel. It is made from insufficiently high-quality materials, so with a mileage of more than 30-40 thousand km, damage may occur on its casing.

The gearshift lever, which has a manual transmission, also suffers from the same problem. Its braid begins to peel off after 1-2 years of vehicle operation. A feature of the steering wheel and gearshift lever is the fear of water. When exposed to moisture, the paint begins to stain the driver’s hands.

The side of the front seats in the area of the seat belt latch also becomes shabby. This problem can be detected with a mileage of more than 100 thousand km. On some cars you can see a hole in this place.

The seat heating elements are made using a thin-section spiral. Because of this, they fail very quickly. Therefore, experienced car owners do not advise buying original mats, since after replacement they will not last long.
