The Daewoo Nexia car is one of the most popular vehicles in the CIS. Initially, the Opel Cadet E, produced from 1984 to 1991 in Germany, was taken as the basis. Description

Now it had two camshafts installed, and the ignition was controlled by an electronic unit, thanks to which it was possible to reduce fuel consumption (city - 9.3 liters per hundred, highway - 6.5 liters per hundred). The cylinder diameter was not changed, as for the pistons - grooves for the valves appeared on the bottom.

The motor embodies all the best properties of the older predecessor G15MF, in addition, quite significant innovations were introduced to improve environmental performance.

The engine control system received a large number of sensors, which made it possible to more finely control engine settings in automatic mode. An ignition module has been installed. The intake manifold has a new geometry. Two catalytic exhaust gas converters and two oxygen concentration sensors are installed.

The engine power increased to 89 hp, the engine life did not change, thanks to the improvements it began to comply with EURO-3 standards.

Summer and winter tires - which can be equipped with a car at a dealer - must have a pressure of 2 Atm P/Z. Maximum speed - the car is enough to cover 350 km in 3 hours without straining, the maximum speed of 175 km without chipping is constant, if on an incline you can reach 185 km/h and the speed will be constant until the gas pedal is released. I do not recommend driving at such speeds because of the difficulty of controllability and the danger of such speeds. cruising speed 120 km/h consumption 8 l\100 km.

How to increase engine power - it’s possible without modifications and it’s very simple when starting from a standstill. and also when overtaking. When we start the engine, all information about the state of revolutions and the amount of fuel that comes from the sensors at a given time is compared with the reference value filled in the ECU firmware at the factory. the engine speed is adjusted from higher to lower. (when starting the engine, the speed is 2000 rpm or 1500 rpm, then the computer lowers them to 850 rpm and then the ECU goes into standby mode) The exit from standby mode is about 0.5 ms. This is due to the fact that for machines, computers are assembled from antediluvian iron, that is, the processor there is not the first freshness. And usually, even on a car produced in 2012, it has deep roots in the 90s. Although there are exceptions, this unfortunately does not apply to budget cars! So, it is precisely because of the ECU with a weak processor that we get dips at idle if we press the accelerator cable (under the hood). BUT there is a way out, you can reduce this time by simple manipulation, you need to briefly press the gas pedal to 1200-1600 rpm, then release it and press it again, but this time to move. A car with such manipulation accelerates to 100 km/h in 10 seconds (if you can’t drive quickly and smoothly better than before, so that there is no risk of damaging the unit components), I personally drive this way when I’m in a hurry. Helps you avoid snails, even at the speed limit on this section of the road. You just need to treat the car's running in with understanding and responsibility. Excellent engine performance is achieved only at a proven gas station, there is no difference between 92 and 95 in either consumption or power, tested according to the BC. But if you add 10 liters of 95 to 40 liters of 92, the car begins to behave better on the road (tested experimentally)! The Check error can be reset independently; you will need a 10\12 key to disconnect one terminal from the battery for 10-20 minutes (during this period of time the ECU goes to factory settings). Then we install the terminal in the reverse order and enjoy life. (If the error occurs again, you need to crawl all the sensors or contact the station). The oil is changed at 1000 km, then 5000 km, 10,000 km, then every 10,000 km.

The suspension is made simple and reliable, but as always, you need to look after it when buying a CAR. Before purchasing, and in the first month, I recommend checking the deformation of the rear beam. If it is crooked, if it is bent or displaced, then you have the right to demand its replacement under warranty or refuse the car! Don’t listen to anyone who says that a new car should not be tested on stands. As much as it should! Be sure to do a wheel alignment! This will reduce the chances of getting into an accident, and you will drive and enjoy. I would call the appearance of this defect either a low-quality part, or transportation of the car to the buyer, or a test of the car where they had to drive 5-10 km ended in failure! Take a car with lower mileage! From the assembly line to the car dealership, the mileage should be no more than 1-2 km.

Armor wires - I forgot to tell you the most important reason why the consumption of a new car increases! First, let’s look at what the candles cost; they should all be the same! 1 What will chip tuning give us?

Many Nexia N150 drivers, having heard about the possibility of upgrading the car with their own hands, mean replacing its main parts. At the same time, today’s popular chip tuning of the Daewoo Nexia remains completely ignored - an operation that effectively reveals the full potential of the car, requiring minimal costs. This improvement method worked especially well when working with the “Koreans” of 1999–2008.

The fact is that these models are initially configured to use a large amount of fuel with minimal dynamics. 2 Modification of the Daewoo Nexia N150 engine

Improving the engine of a Korean car is much more difficult. The reason lies in the power unit of the car itself. Nexia is equipped with a weak engine with a power of 75 hp. With. Finding new parts for such an engine is not as easy as it seems. The most accessible elements for replacement today are, perhaps, a direct muffler and zero-resistance filters.

Finding a top shaft and forged pistons to increase engine power is quite difficult. At the moment they are produced by only one company from Germany. The company produces complete tuning kits, which include crankshafts, camshafts and forged pistons. If you have the opportunity to buy such a kit, then you can start modifying the engine yourself. With the help of new parts, you can bore the cylinders yourself, as a result of which the engine volume will “grow” from the standard 1.5 to 1.7 liters.

3 Modernization of the exterior of a Korean car

After tuning the engine, you should pay attention to the appearance of the car. There are many options for improving the body of the Daewoo Nexia. To connect the devices, we stretch the wires into the car interior and connect them to the cigarette lighter relay. The previously dismantled standard headlights can be put aside - they may still be useful. After this, we begin work with the rear lights of the car. We remove the protective glass and take out the standard lighting fixtures. Next, apply a little glue to which we press the neon lamps. The latter need to be placed so that they stand between the “original” headlights and the turning lamps of the car. Next, we install the standard optics and mount the protective glass.

In addition to tuning the headlights, the owner of the Daewoo Nexia N150 can do it with his own hands, covering the car windows with tint film, and also apply it to the body. Throughout the entire production period, 2 main trim levels were produced: GL and GLE. GL was considered budget and was equipped with unpainted bumpers and rear-view mirrors. The second configuration already had painted bumpers and built-in fog lights.

It is worth emphasizing that fog lamp glasses often crack. This is partly due to the fact that the auxiliary headlights heat up, and when water gets on them, the lens cracks. Less powerful versions were fitted with 13-inch wheels, while more powerful modifications came with wheels with a diameter of 14 inches.

It would seem that the difference is only one inch, but thanks to even wider tires, control was noticeably improved. If you come across a Daewoo Nexia with 14-inch wheels and the name DONC, this means that the car in front of you is no older than 2002.

After all, just in 2002, it underwent another external update and began to be equipped with a new power unit. Starting in the same year, the sedan had chrome grilles with a more complex shape.

Dimensions

The machine reaches 4482 mm in length, 1662 mm in width, and 1393 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2520 mm, and the ground clearance is set at 158 ​​mm, which, in principle, is not that much, given the quality of our roads. The turning radius is 4.9 meters.

The entire vehicle weighs 1,025 kg, with a maximum weight of 1,530 kg. One of the advantages of Daewoo Nexia is its spacious luggage compartment - 530 liters of free space. However, the opening was made a little narrow, which makes loading any things difficult.

Interior

It is clear that in the interior of the Daewoo Nexia you will not be able to find the option of night vision or seats with massage, but the interior of this brand is considered an advantage because it has the most spaciousness among its opponents.

The front seats have moderate lateral support, are heated and have six-way power adjustment. The cabin has free space for five adult passengers.

If we talk about the landing, then it is quite low, which distinguishes Nexia from other budget cars. Interestingly, in the GLE modification, the driver's seat cushion is height adjustable.

Standard GL configurations differ greatly from each other in terms of modifications, but you can see GL with support for air conditioning and power steering. All GLE versions come with four electric windows, a tachometer and an electrically operated antenna.

The backrests of the rear sofa do not have a folding function, which is a disadvantage when transporting large items. After restyling, the instrument panel received a transformed look, a fashionable visor, under which there are 3 large sensors.

The center console turned out to be slightly turned towards the driver. The console has various control buttons and a navigation system, which will now be available to customers even as standard.

All plastic has greatly improved in quality, everyone’s unloved cracks and gaps have disappeared, and it has been possible to increase sound insulation in the cabin.

The steering wheel has a brand new rim with a special recess for the fingers. The calm lighting of the instruments will not leave you indifferent. For additional money, you can install a sliding sunroof on the top. In the second generation of the famous sedan, more expensive plastic began to be used, and the quality of fastening elements and parts has significantly improved.

The front panel has oval and rectangular parts. All elements are conveniently located and backlit. Some controls, or rather the buttons for the electrical package, are installed on the driver's door.

The luggage compartment volume of the new Daewoo Nexia is 530 liters. This result is very worthy today.

Specifications

Power unit

The list of power units of the Daewoo Nexia is not as large as that of its rivals. It contains only a pair of gasoline engines, which are designed for four cylinders and meet Euro-3 environmental standards. The weakest in the line of engines is the A15SMS, which everyone is accustomed to in Chevrolet Lanos. The device has a working volume of 1.5 liters and develops 80 horsepower at 5600 rpm.

The power unit received a distributed fuel injection system. There is also an electronic control unit that allows you to fill in various modifications of fuel (from AI-80 to AI-95). The gas distribution mechanism was SOHC type, which means a pair of valves for each cylinder, which are controlled by a camshaft mounted at the top.

Such characteristics allow the car to accelerate to 175 km/h, and it covers the first hundred in 12.5 seconds. The engine can hardly be called economical, because in the urban cycle it consumes about 8.5 liters, on the highway - 7.7 liters, and in the combined cycle it requires 8.1 liters of fuel per 100 km.

Next comes a more powerful engine, which came from the Chevrolet Lacetti. Its power is 109 “horses”, given its volume – 1.6 liters. The Chevrolet Cobalt has a similar engine. The power unit is equipped with a DOHC gas distribution system with a pair of camshafts located at the top and 4 valves for each cylinder.

The power of such a motor makes it possible to accelerate to 185 km/h. The first hundred is reached by a passenger car in 11 seconds.

It is logical to conclude that with an increase in power, fuel consumption will also increase - 9.3 liters in city mode, 8.5 on highways and 8.9 in the combined cycle. Both engines have a front, transverse layout, and also have an in-line arrangement of cylinders.

Transmission

The operation of the power units is synchronized with a 5-speed manual transmission and one clutch disc, which, as seen in practice, has a “heavy” switching device. If the timing belt breaks, the engine will need to be rebuilt, although the fact that the valves will definitely meet the pistons is not guaranteed.

Suspension

The suspension installed in front is independent, spring, made on a McPherson type strut platform. At the rear, semi-independent structures with springs and a torsion beam are used. The suspension behaves quite well on Russian roads. The old design, cheap equipment and low settings remind of themselves with every operation of the car.

Based on the results of the test drive, it should be concluded that Nexia behaves on the road even better than the “classic Lada”, but in many respects it loses to Kalina, Priora and Grant. Most likely, these shortcomings forced the engineering staff to think about the production of the 3rd generation Daewoo Nexia.

Steering

Steering is rack and pinion type. But the hydraulic power steering wheel is not included in the basic package, but the engineers foresaw free space for its installation.

New engines 2008

When 2008 arrived, in addition to body changes in appearance, Nexia updated the list of engines. Instead of the already morally outdated G15MF engine, they began to install the A15SMS internal combustion power plant.

The internal combustion engine has a fuel system from the Chevrolet Lanos, so the engine meets Euro-3 environmental standards. But the 16-valve A15MF was replaced with a fresh 1.6-liter F16D3.

The first engine from the Chevrolet Lanos became more powerful than its predecessor - now its power is 90 horsepower. However, the engine received a big drawback - due to the fact that the cylinder head of the new model is installed from Lanos, when the timing belt breaks, the valves “hit” the pistons.

The 1.6-liter 109-horsepower gasoline engine has one interesting point. To reduce the emission of toxic gases, an EGR valve is installed on it. However, “our” gasoline often clogs the recirculation system, so most car owners turn off this valve.

However, the power plant also adopted some disadvantages from the German engine. The lambda probe often comes out of working position, oil leaks from under the valve cover, and difficulties arise with the functioning of the thermostat, which opens earlier than necessary.

The fact that oil is leaking is not the whole problem. Oil often leaks into the spark plug wells, after which the internal combustion engine begins to stall. But on the power unit, oil occasionally flows between the piston rings, therefore, in this regard, the F16D3 is reliable.

Just like all cars, the Uzbek-made sedan requires maintenance, and the engine oil needs to be changed at the intervals specified in the established regulations.

As in other cars, the oil should be changed after every 10,000 kilometers. If the conditions of use of the vehicle are difficult (heavy loads, operation in a hot region), the oil must be changed after 5,000 kilometers.

There are no special recommendations for oils for Nexia engines. To prevent the oil from burning and blackness appearing on the elements inside the power plant, it is good if it is of high quality and has good additives. It is better to avoid mineral oil; it is recommended to use “synthetics” or “semi-synthetics”.

When starting a power unit in thick oil, characteristic wear of engine parts occurs and the service life is reduced, so it is better not to use the “all-season” engine in winter. It is advised to buy almost any oil from popular global manufacturers, and not a fake. This could be Castrol, Mobil, Chevron, ELF and so on.

Many drivers already know that it is precisely because of counterfeit oil that carbon deposits occur and the life of the power unit is reduced. Counterfeits do not have high-quality additives that have the necessary lubricating properties and reduce friction of parts.

Safety

Daewoo Nexia previously passed crash tests in a frontal collision at a speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour. At that time, everyone was frightened by the driver's door jammed in the opening, the welds that simply came apart in the floor area, and the metal of the B-pillar that was bent by the jerk of the seat belt.

A little later, the sedan had to undergo another crash test, a more complex one. This is an impact with a deformable barrier at a speed limit of 64 kilometers per hour with a smaller overlap area. Based on modern rules, an offset collision occurs in such a way that the car hits the obstacle not 50, but 40% of the front part.

Initially, this seems like a minor change, but because of it there is a global increase in the load on the driver's side member. So, Nexia was accelerated to a certain speed limit, and it crashed into an obstacle.

It feels as if an invisible object took the car by the nose and turned it to one side, squeezing the driver's doorway. The left windshield pillar stood almost vertically, the roof lined up “like a house.” The body sill broke and went in a large zigzag to the left.

The inner door panel was folded inside the crumpled opening at a sharp angle. If we talk about the outer panel, it moved away from its base so that the mangled insides became visible in the form of locks sticking out in different directions, bent guide mechanisms of the window lifter.

In the middle, between a pair of door panels torn apart from each other, a safety bar stuck out alone. The latter is a powerful pipe integrated inside the door to help it “hold” side and frontal impacts. Similar bars, which acted as spacer pipes, were installed in the front doors of the VAZ-2110, as well as Svyatogor.

They helped these cars keep the doorway from the consequences of terrible collisions. However, on our sedan, this beam was torn from the side of the door along the spot welding areas and could not in any way change the outcome of the collision.

The Uzbek-made vehicle seemed to have decided to catch up and outdo the worst results of all the cars that had been tested up to this point. The windshield pillar was longitudinally shifted by 370 millimeters (Oka has an indicator of 365 millimeters!).

The end of the steering shaft moved back by 290 millimeters (the same Oka has an indicator of 295 mm!). The clutch pedal was pressed into the vehicle by 4.10 centimeters. The space under the panel was reduced by 3 times, and the left foot of the driver (dummy) was squeezed between the seat cushion and the wheel well. The right foot was stuck tightly to the floor between the gas and brake pedals.

If we talk about the driver himself, during the impact he hit the steering wheel, bent its rim, and hit his head on the corner of the dashboard visor. The impact was so severe that the HIC's probable brain damage indicator moved past the dangerous 1,000 "red" area.

The impact itself, with the steering column shifting towards the driver, put a serious load on the sensors in the dummy’s neck. Therefore, getting broken ribs in such a collision is a real danger. On top of that, Nexia guarantees a fracture of the left femur, because during the collision the load on it reached up to a ton!

The left knee hits the area of ​​the panel where the junction box, fuses and relays are located. The knee of the right leg rested on the soft papier-mâché panel in an area where there were no hard objects. However, since the foot of the right leg was “locked” under the pedals, the lower leg felt a strong bending force. When the blow is more powerful, the shin bone will simply break.

Of course, the passenger didn’t get it that badly, but he got it. He hit his head on the soft panel pad, which is not that dangerous based on the HIC of 608. However, the neck stretch during the “nod” was significant.

The dummy's left femur experienced loads that went beyond the green area. After the impact, the passenger began to rest his knees on the glove compartment lid. Therefore, the result of the test can be called sensational - only 1 point out of 16 possible during a frontal collision.

It turns out that the sedan provides its customers with protection at the same level as the small Oka. Even the VAZ-2110 is much better than the Daewoo Nexia. When viewing the sedan body, I had to observe a terrible picture. The panels tore away from each other, the metal crumpled in a chaotic manner.

I was very struck by the unusual degree of deformation - the bow shield was curled to one side, but was not bent. He was almost unharmed. However, all the elements that are located behind it - floor panels, sills, body pillars - were wrinkled as if they were made of cardboard.

If you grab the edge of the floor panel, which is torn off from the floor, you feel that the metal “breathes”, like bent organic glass. One gets the feeling that the body floor was stamped from too soft metal. Probably substandard.

Therefore, during the impact, the bottom went “wave” - it offered almost no resistance to deformation. The result of Nexia is the following - the presence of weak seams, weak metal and the bottom itself.

After the first generation Daewoo Nexia was turned over, other equally amazing moments were revealed. The bottom of the gasoline tank sparkled with bare metal, which they had forgotten to paint. Rust covered the exhaust system pipe flanges.

2015 gave Daewoo the opportunity to sell passenger cars in 13 trim levels. However, in fact, they can be divided into 3 general ones - “Classic” (GL), “Norma” and “Lux” (GLE). The “Classic” modification implies meager equipment of the car, where there is not even an audio radio and only a single 1.5-liter power unit is offered.

The basic equipment includes inertia seat belts, 13-inch wheel rims, adjustable headrests on the front seats, heated rear window, a clock, a rear shelf mounted on the dashboard, and electric headlight adjustment. This model is priced at RUR 450,000.

The “Norma” modification provides everything you need. It includes: air conditioning and/or power steering, a radio with four speakers, 13 or 14-inch wheels. In addition, the interior upholstery is the best.

It is possible to choose the power unit you personally need: 1.5-liter or 1.6-liter. The Nexia “Norma” with a 1.5-liter engine costs 502,000 rubles, and with a 1.6-liter engine costs 525,000 rubles.

The “Lux” modification, in addition to all of the above, has central locking, power steering, air conditioning (optional), electric windows, wheel caps, fog lights, turn signals on the side mirrors, 14-inch wheel rims, a sun strip on the windshield and paint bumpers to match the body color. The “Lux” version with a 1.5-liter engine is estimated at 563,000 rubles, and with a 1.6-liter engine – from 569,000 rubles.
