The 6.0-liter unit was well adapted to AI-92 fuel, which happily consumed about 18.1 liters in a mixed operating cycle.

During the 2008 restyling, the Hummer H2 was equipped with a new engine from the Vortec family. It also had 8 V-shaped cylinders and a distributed fuel injection system, but its displacement increased to 6.2 liters (6162 cm3), which made it possible to increase peak power to 393 hp. at 5700 rpm. The engine torque at its maximum at 4300 rpm rested on 563 Nm, which provided the SUV with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in an impressive (with impressive weight) 7.8 seconds. The Americans used a Hydra-Matic 6L80 6-band automatic transmission as a gearbox, with which the average fuel consumption of the Hummer H2 was about 15.7 liters.

The legendary Hummer H2 SUV is built on the GMT820 platform, also known from the second generation Cadillac Escalade. Of course, for the Hummer, the platform with a modular welded ladder-type frame was seriously modified and strengthened, making it more rigid and resistant to serious off-road loads. The front part of the Hummer H2 body was mounted on a torsion bar suspension with double wishbones and an anti-roll bar. At the rear, the massive body rested on an independent five-link design with coil springs, which, if desired, could be supplemented by an optional self-leveling suspension with air elements. Ventilated disc brakes were installed on all wheels of the SUV. In addition, the H2's braking system was complemented by a 4-channel ABS system, as well as a TCS traction control system. The jeep's steering was equipped with a hydraulic booster. The Hummer H2 received a permanent Borg Warner all-wheel drive with a range-shifting gear and a continuous rear axle.

The Hummer H2 was produced from 2002 to 2009. In our country, the assembly of an SUV was established in 2004 in the city of Kaliningrad. The Russian version differed from the North American version in the absence of a second battery, a factory winch and other additional equipment, which made it possible to make the car more affordable and fit into the “B” driver’s category in terms of weight characteristics.
