New Datsun MI-DO. Driving sensations

Recently, the Russian automobile market has been literally occupied by small cars. And this is not surprising, because there is a crisis outside, and you need to go to work. Datsun mi-Do copes with this task with a bang. This is an economical and cheap car. What is Datsun Mi-Do? Reviews from owners and characteristics of the car are further in our article.

Characteristic

We often heard about this car on TV. The advertisement praises the Datsun mi-Do in every possible way. But no one mentions that this Japanese car was built on the basis of the Russian Kalina. Hence the low cost. Some car owners call it that - the Japanese “Kalina”. It has been mass-produced since February 2015. Now there are many dealership centers selling and servicing Datsun Mi-Do cars. This is a big plus - the manufacturer cares about its customers.

Design

The appearance of the car is very modern. But there are still “Kalinovsky” connections.

This is the line of the roof and side glazing. At the front, the car features a radiator grille with a huge honeycomb and a chrome surround. The Datsun Mi-Do bumper is also different from the Kalinovsky. As standard, it is already painted in body color. The hood has small raised lines. Unlike the Kalina, different headlights are installed here. The Datsun Mi-Do has a more attractive optics design than its domestic counterpart. By the way, the low beam here is lensed. This makes the car look more aggressive. Otherwise, the silhouette of the Japanese Datsun mi-Do is no different from the Kalina. The large glazing area and chopped off “stern” bring us back to AvtoVAZ. By the way, the Datsun Mi-Do (Dream package) has fifteen-inch alloy wheels. But due to the large, “muscular” wheel arches, they look very small, reviews say. But this is not the worst thing. In the basic version, the car is equipped with 14-inch stamped wheels.

At the rear, the car has a neat tailgate with gas struts and a small plastic bumper with a cutout for a license plate. The rear optics are extended in a horizontal position. The same is available on the domestic Kalina. Already in the basic configuration there is a heated rear window and an additional brake light on top. In general, the rear part does not differ in special shapes. This is the simplest and most affordable car.

Dimensions and weight

Among the advantages of the Datsun Mi-Do car, reviews from owners note its compact dimensions. The length of the car is less than four meters and the width is 170 centimeters. The short wheelbase allows you to park where other cars cannot. This is a big plus for large cities where there are constant parking problems. At the same time, the car has a high ground clearance of 17.5 centimeters. But the curb weight is almost the same as that of a sedan - 1130 kilograms.

"Datsun Mi-Do": salon

Inside, the car is no different from its Japanese counterpart “ON-DO”. The architecture of the front panel is quite surprising. It has a large bend in the center where the air duct deflectors and the alarm button are hidden. Just below, the Japanese placed a small multimedia display. But I couldn’t control the music on the steering wheel - it lacks remote control buttons. There is also a control unit for the stove and air conditioner.

There are round deflectors on the sides. Their design is almost the same as on the second generation Kalina. Under the left hand there are buttons for controlling the electric windows and power mirrors. The instrument panel is devoid of design refinements - after all, this is a budget class. There are two “wells” with a speedometer and a tachometer, and between them there is a digital on-board computer. The steering wheel is three-spoke, without additional braiding. But in the Datsun Mi-Do car, owner reviews note a comfortable grip on the steering wheel. There are special grooves for thumbs. There is a glove compartment and two cup holders in the center. Trying to somehow dilute the design, the developers painted the steering wheel and center console with aluminum-look inserts. It looks attractive, but still does not make a real D-class out of a “state employee”.

Disadvantages of the Datsun Mi-Do interior

Owner reviews note the presence of many plugs as standard. They are also present instead of a double-din radio, which is present only in the maximum versions of the hatchback. The quality of finishing materials is not much different from Kalina. Rough, hard plastic is used here. The seat upholstery is fabric only, and the buyer cannot choose a color scheme. The gaps in the interior do not always match, and if not for the silver inserts, the design would look downright gloomy.

Owner reviews also complain about flat seats. They lack lateral support. But in terms of the range of adjustments, everything is good - they allow you to adjust the position of the chair to individual anatomical features. As for the second row of seats, there is very little space. Passengers rest their knees on the front seats. The car is only wide enough for two people in the back. It is simply impossible for three of us to fit here. Although there are three headrests and the same number of seat belts in the back. Due to the small size of the body, the trunk does not allow you to transport many things. Its volume is only 260 liters. Fortunately, the seat backs fold in a 60:40 ratio. But it’s still not possible to make a flat floor.

Under the hood

What technical characteristics does the Datsun Mi-Do have? Under the hood there is an eight-valve petrol unit from Kalina with a volume of 1600 cubic centimeters. The engine was developed at AvtoVAZ.

Its maximum power is 87 horsepower. Torque - 140 Nm. By the way, peak power is available as early as 5100 rpm, which is almost in the red scale. This engine frankly lacks traction, reviews note. Acceleration to one hundred kilometers per hour takes as much as 14.5 seconds. The maximum speed is 160 kilometers per hour. There are no other power units here. The machine is equipped with a catalyst, which allows it to comply with the Euro-4 environmental standard.

Box and consumption

What transmissions are available for the Datsun Mi-Do? The automatic is only available in top versions. The basic equipment is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. As the test drive shows, the Datsun Mi-Do is a very voracious car.

With an automatic transmission, the car consumes almost 8 liters per 100 kilometers. With mechanics - 0.7 liters less in the combined cycle. Many people complain that there is no diesel engine in the lineup. A Datsun Mi-Do with a diesel engine would consume 30 percent less fuel. But as a rule, such units significantly increase the cost of the car. And "Datsun Mi-Do" belongs to the class of "state employees".

Chassis

The basis was the same “Kalina”. But Japanese engineers have slightly modified the domestic suspension. Thus, the front wheels are secured with MacPherson struts, and the rear wheels are secured with a semi-independent beam. The car is equipped with gas shock absorbers. Reviews note that they are very tough in the pits. But the car does not roll when cornering. The car steers excellently - it has electric power steering. She doesn't roll. It brakes very well. There are disc elements at the front, drum elements at the rear. Among the safety systems, it is worth noting EBD, BAS and ABS. The latter is already in the database.

Price

We found out what technical characteristics the Datsun Mi-Do has. Now let's move on to the cost. On the Russian market, the Japanese hatchback is available in two trim levels - “Trust” and “Dream”, the first of which is basic. The starting price of the car is 500 thousand rubles. If the buyer wants a car with an automatic transmission, he will have to pay an additional 50 thousand rubles. The basic version includes two electric windows, heated seats, an on-board computer on the instrument panel, electric power steering and power mirrors. There is an ABS system and two front airbags. For the version with air conditioning you will have to pay 527 thousand rubles. There is no audio system here - only audio preparation.

The maximum configuration will cost 558 thousand rubles. There are fog lights, alloy wheels with a full-size spare wheel, climate control, and electric seat adjustment. The manufacturer provides a seven-inch touchscreen multimedia system and 4 speakers (front and rear shelf). For an additional 30 thousand rubles, the manufacturer will equip the car with parking sensors (there are two sensors in the rear bumper), side airbags, a navigation system and a heated windshield. But as reviews note, the standard navigator works very poorly. Therefore, it is not worth overpaying a lot of money for it.

Operating experience

Most of those who purchased the Japanese Datsun hatchback were looking at choosing the Kalina. This is not surprising, because the base of both cars is the same. But in terms of equipment, the “Japanese” is more attractive. After several months of operation, car owners complain about poor sound insulation. Creaks and crickets are heard in the cabin. The rubber seals are attached very loosely. The torpedo is hard and unpleasant to the touch. As for the body, many criticize Datsun for the inconsistency of clearances, especially in the hood area. After several thousand kilometers, the engine compartment becomes covered with a layer of road dust - standard seals do not help or do not adhere well to the surface. The engine does not cause problems with operation, but at medium speeds it makes a lot of noise and vibrations. Sometimes the idle speed fluctuates. In winter it starts without problems. This car is quite suitable for short trips, but if you need to cover a long distance, your back and lower back hurt a lot. The lack of lateral and lumbar support makes itself felt. Seat height adjustment is only available on the top trim level. On the plus side, the car is very maneuverable and can be parked in the city without any problems. There is plenty of ground clearance.

And short overhangs allow you to overcome even country roads. Heated seats and heater work great. The cost of spare parts is low, and you can buy original parts in any city. Car owners are advised to purchase a car with an automatic transmission. Indeed, in most cases, such a car only drives around the city. This makes the ride more comfortable and less nervous. In traffic jams you don’t have to constantly keep your foot on the clutch, which is a big plus. But the other side of the coin is increased fuel consumption and weaker acceleration. It will take some time for the torque converter to engage and transmit torque. Although such cars are not purchased for racing at all. "Datsun" comfortably takes you from point A to point B with minimal fuel consumption. If there were a diesel engine, the car would be valued even more, say reviews from the owners.

Competitors

What can you buy for this price? The main competitors of this car are the Lada Kalina and the second generation Renault Logan. A few years ago, these cars cost an order of magnitude cheaper, so they were more popular than the Datsun. But now the “Japanese” is actively fighting with competitors, offering the maximum level of equipment at the minimum cost.

If we consider competitors in the class of urban hatchbacks, it is worth noting the Lifan Smiley. The Chinese copied the design of this car from the British Mini Cooper. The cost of such a car is from 320 thousand rubles.

Another “Chinese” is hot on its heels - “Gilly MK-Cross”. The design of this car is much more interesting, and the cost is low - 420 thousand rubles. The variety of power units and transmissions is pleasing. But many are afraid to buy the Chinese auto industry - they say it rots and often breaks down.

But then the Italian Fiat 500 appears on the market. Its price is 400 and 465 thousand rubles for the version with a manual and CVT transmission, respectively. So it can significantly affect the sales of Japanese “state employees”.

The female gender will definitely choose him. The design of the car is thought out to the smallest detail. And the build quality here is excellent, which cannot be said about the Datsun. The Fiat is also compact and economical. Marketers will have to work hard to ensure that Datsun does not get lost in the crowd of other competitive cars.

Conclusion

To summarize, it should be noted that “Japanese” does not always mean quality, especially if the platform was taken from Kalina. When purchasing a budget car, you need to take into account that it will not have design delights both externally and internally. You shouldn’t demand a perfectly quiet interior and soft plastic from it. Everything has its own budget. But the design, unlike the Russian Kalina, is much better, according to reviews from the owners. This car is suitable for car ladies who do not want to have problems with a used car of a more respectable class. The engine and gearbox (especially the mechanical one) are really reliable here, but you shouldn’t hope for high dynamic performance. This was all the information about the Datsun Mi-Do hatchback.

Datsun mi-DO is so compact and so roomy! The interior of the car can easily accommodate 3-5 people, and they won’t feel cramped. For the comfort of the driver and passengers, ergonomic seats with heating function, electric windows, an infotainment system with a seven-inch display and much more are provided.

Hatchback dimensions:

  • length - 3.95 m;
  • height - 1.5 m;
  • width - 1.7 m;
  • the distance between the wheel axles is 2.476 m.

Thanks to its 174 mm ground clearance, the car easily overcomes various road obstacles. There is enough space in the trunk to carry the necessary things.

Engine

The car is driven by a 4-cylinder, 8-valve petrol unit with an output of 87 hp. and a peak torque of 140 Nm. Engine capacity - 1596 cubic meters. Fuel consumption per hundred kilometers outside the city is 5.8 liters.

The engine is combined with 2 gearboxes:

  • five-speed manual;
  • four-speed automatic.

Depending on the modification, the top speed of the hatchback is 166-170 km/h, and acceleration to 100 km/h takes 12-14.3 seconds. There will be no complaints about the technical characteristics of the Datsun mi-DO car!

Equipment

The car of the Japanese brand Datsun completely changes the idea of budget models. Despite its affordable price, it is very well equipped. He has:

  • radiator grille with chrome frame;
  • climate control system;
  • heated seats and windshield;
  • Parking sensor;
  • Power windows and exterior mirrors with electronic drive;
  • seven-inch color display of the multimedia system (4 speakers, Bluetooth, USB connector)
  • and other equipment.

Sale of Datsun mi-DO at the Central car dealership

Can't afford a new Japanese car? No matter how it is! Anyone can buy a new Datsun Mi-DO from an official dealer if you take out an interest-free installment plan or a car loan on loyal terms, as well as resort to the Trade-in system, recycling program, promotions and discounts.

Datsun mi-Do - this hatchback entered the market a little later than its sedan brother. However, it seems that he is not at all going to yield to the latter in popularity, actively winning the hearts of car dealership customers. It is immediately clear that the car is aimed at young people - and the body is more suitable here, and its color scheme, which includes a signature bright orange color scheme, should attract precisely such buyers. It’s not for nothing that they predict a third of all sales in Russia!

The signature Mi-Do shade definitely suits him!

Of course, the Datsun brand cannot boast of excessive prestige, but still the words about buying a “Japanese-made car” sound solid, even if for this you have to cheat a little. After all, the Datsun mi-Do is simply a restyled Lada Kalina, although, recognizing this, any hatchback owner immediately begins to list the differences between his iron horse and the domestic one.

If you don’t know that the prototype for the Mi-Do was the Lada Kalina, then the Japanese hatchback can easily be mistaken for an original model.

The Japanese are also diligently creating a high-profile image for their models, hoping not only for sales in Russia, but also for exporting cars to neighboring countries. However, in order to really justify the high bar set, Asians will have to try, not only in terms of creating a car, but also in terms of dealer service, which should be noticeably better than VAZ's.

In an effort to find out the attitude of ordinary car owners towards the hatchback, journalists conducted a kind of survey, the results of which can be seen in this video:

Appearance Datsun Mi-Do

There is no doubt about the relationship with Kalina, and some design decisions were made, as they say, “by contradiction.” Here is the first confirmation of this. If it has a thin radiator grille and a powerful air intake, then the opposite is true - a small air intake and a massive grille with a large emblem.

The differences with Kalina are visible, as they say, to the naked eye. However, the similarities are also obvious.

And the lid of the Mi-Do is even, whereas the Lada has a license plate on it, the place of which is on the rear bumper of the Datsun. Everything else is very similar - hood, doors, bumpers, fenders, optics, rear, etc. Of course, the style is a little different, but the outline is the same. The doors of the Mi-Do are simple, without unnecessary stampings, the rear lights are elongated, the roof is slightly tilted back, etc.

During the Moscow Motor Show in 2014, this hatchback was presented at the stand, and in the branded color scheme. He came to the attention of journalist Sergei Znaemsky:

Datsun mi-Do engine

If we state dry technical data, then the 8-valve engine clearly does not impress with its power. 87 l. s., available only in the upper range (at 5,100 rpm), as well as 140 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm - all this is already familiar from Grant. The engine is oriented to Euro-4 standards, and the hatchback only needs to be refueled with 95-octane gasoline.

The engine of the Datsun model has no alternative, but it is better than you expect.

But its dynamics will largely depend on the type of gearbox, as well as appetite. So, on the “stick” acceleration takes 12 seconds, and with AT you will have to be patient for 14.3 seconds. it “exceeds” ten, although in the passport data the figures for a liter are 2-3 less.

Despite the fact that the engine is well-known, an overview of its engine is presented in this story:

Transmission

The 5-gear manual transmission has an alternative in the form of a 4-band automatic transmission from Jatco.

Oddly enough, it was the “mechanics” that turned out to be the weak link.

It is this transmission that distinguishes the Mi-Do from a sedan, where buyers are forced to be content with only a “handle”. However, there are no technical revelations here.

The high-quality operation of the automatic transmission allows you to forget that the “automatic” is only 4-band.

Datsun mi-Do suspension

Here, too, everything is traditional - there are McPherson struts at the front, and a torsion beam at the rear. The brakes are disc at the front and drum at the rear. Technically, the car also boasts an electric power steering.

An ordinary torsion beam - there is nothing to surprise Datsun with.

Driving sensations

But on the emotional level, the situation with the engine is much rosier. It is unexpectedly playful and assertive - it starts quite briskly and spins smoothly to the limiter. It is not surprising that the Japanese did not change anything in it, except for idle calibration. But there is also a minus - the engine is quite noisy. Asians tried to solve the problem by improving the soundproofing layer, but they were not very successful in this, although the effect, in comparison with Kalina, is still noticeable.

Also, both paparazzi and drivers note that the speed in the hatchback is perceived differently from reality - when accelerating to 80 km/h, it seems that the car is already rushing to the limit.

The feeling of speed in Mi-Do is quite unique.

With gearboxes, things are a little more complicated. Contrary to expectations, it is the “mechanics” that let down Mi-Do. And this is despite all the press releases from Nissan, which have repeatedly emphasized that the cable drive of the box guarantees a lot of advantages - there is clear gear engagement, low noise levels, and reduced vibrations. But in reality, everything is far from being so optimistic - the speeds are turned on “not very well”, and sometimes the rear one has to be hammered into the groove. Yes, and there are problems with noise - from time to time the box begins to howl, and this dreary symphony can even make the driver lose his mood. Only a properly configured clutch can save you.

The clarity of gear shifts in the Mi-Do definitely needs improvement.

But the “automatic machine” completely rehabilitates Mi-Do! No wonder they are asking 40,000 rubles for it. – he fulfills them 100%. The automatic transmission juggles gears clearly and quickly, and as a pleasant bonus for the driver there are additional modes designed to hold low gears. And this is a bold “+” for a hatchback! When driving uphill, this function is simply irreplaceable.

Additional modes are a great help when driving uphill.

The main thing is to first count 3 clicks from “Parking” to “Drive” so as not to overshoot it. As a nice bonus, there is also an overdrive activation key, which will make it possible to save a couple of liters of fuel at cruising speeds.

Mode D is in the third position from the top - this is important to remember.

With the suspension everything is ambivalent. On the one hand, it is this part of Mi-Do that clearly proves its indestructibility - it is simply unrealistic to make it work for a breakdown! Elastic shock absorbers and 174 mm ground clearance allow you to forget that you are in a hatchback - it moves no worse than a real crossover! Potholes, potholes, speed bumps and other free additions to the modern roads of our Fatherland will not become an obstacle for the driver who has chosen the Datsun Mi-Do.

It’s better not to leave the well-worn road in a hatchback.

The other side of the coin is shaking - the hatchback literally shakes the soul out of its riders, diligently transmitting all the imperfections of the road into the cabin. This is especially true for the rear passengers, since when actively driving over uneven surfaces, the stern begins to be thrown into the air in a frightening manner. This also bothers the driver, because vibrations are transmitted to the steering wheel, which already does not suffer from excessive performance.

The feedback on the mi-Do steering wheel is clearly insufficient.

The electric power steering is not able to provide sharp steering. As a result, the feedback leaves much to be desired. In the city, such annoyance is not too noticeable, but on the highway it is downright annoying. After all, the steering wheel not only does not react to small deviations from “zero,” but the amplifier throws up another surprise in the form of an unauthorized change in force.

The brakes also don't shine, despite all the claims about increasing their efficiency thanks to the installation of a vacuum booster. The brakes are “wobbly”, so to obtain a deceleration (even a small one), you need to diligently press the pedal.

Despite the “advanced” design, the Mi-Do’s brakes are not the most informative.

Datsun mi-Do salon

The Mi-Do's interior is designed without being too stiff - simple, unpretentious and tasteful. The instrument panel is as informative as possible, the steering wheel is quite comfortable, the air vents are located at the optimal height, thanks to which the interior space is well heated and cooled. The large screen available in the top version adds chic, and the ergonomics are well thought out. Visibility is good, and parking sensors help out in critical situations.

The Datsun's interior is nice, but nothing more.

The seats are well-profiled, but it’s uncomfortable to sit behind the wheel, because the column is adjustable only in height, and the seat is only adjustable in angle. It takes a long time to choose the optimal position, and the lateral support is so impressive that you don’t even notice its presence.

The range of adjustments for the front seats is small, but there is a minimum. And the lateral support is not so great.

The rear sofa is similar to that of the Grant. But the creators of the Mi-Do claim that they have seriously modernized it, replacing the filler and slightly repurposing it - from now on, the passenger seats are not so clearly highlighted.

The rear seat is almost flat, but the trio of headrests clearly indicate that the car is a 5-seater.

Visually, the interior is even boring in places - the dark color of the plastic, which doesn’t even spare the emergency light button, is slightly diluted with deathly pale aluminum inserts. There are noticeable signs of "budget" - small flaws in the assembly, roughness on the plastic, a subtle phenolic smell, which, however, quickly dissipates. And the sound insulation leaves much to be desired.

You can briefly take a look at the top-spec Mi-Do interior in this video:

Equipment and cost

It’s nice that Datsun doesn’t skimp on the safety of its passengers, offering even in the basic version a pair of airbags, complemented by ABS, BAS and EBD systems. It’s noticeable - the level of protection, for a price of 432,000 rubles, is almost unprecedented! The rest, however, is nothing outstanding - a minimal set of amenities, consisting of an on-board computer, front electric windows and electric mirrors.

Naturally, as prices rise, the list is replenished with new devices. Yes, it also has climate control. And for 466,000 you can get a car with a multimedia system with a 2DIN monochrome screen, two pairs of speakers, Bluetooth, an SD card slot and the HandsFree function.

An audio system with a small monochrome display is not supplied as standard.

Stage-by-stage changes occur in the next version, which is already sold for 482,000 rubles. Mi-Do receives a stylish 15-inch casting, door handles and mirrors painted in the same color as the body, door moldings and fog lights. There are also plenty of innovations in the cabin - parking sensors, full power accessories, rain and light sensors, an ESC (dynamic stabilization) system, and an alarm system. Definitely worth the extra charge!

You will have to pay the most for the top version - 516,000 rubles. But for that amount of money, the Mi-Do will be equipped with a navigation system with maps of the CIS countries, a heated windshield, and the safety bastions will be reinforced with side airbags.

With navigation, the car is already expensive - 516,000 rubles, and this is without an automatic transmission.

All quoted prices imply the purchase of a Datsun with a manual transmission. If you want an “automatic”, then you need to add another 40,000 rubles to each of them.

Results - is it worth buying the Datsun Mi-Do?

So, did the Japanese company manage to create a model that is head and shoulders above the Granta and Kalina? Can its owner say without a twinge of conscience that he bought a “Japanese car”? It's still unclear. The Datsun Mi-Do is, of course, better than domestic models, but not by an order of magnitude.

That is why a lot will depend on after-sales service - Datsun dealers must show the “highest class” so that Mi-Do owners can safely recommend their purchase to others!

However, a comprehensive overview of the model can be viewed in this video:

➖ Rattling noise in the engine compartment
➖ Poor build quality
➖ Crickets in the cabin
➖ Fuel consumption
➖ Small trunk

pros

➕ High ground clearance
➕ Dimensions
➕ Patency

The advantages and disadvantages of the Datsun mi-DO 2018-2019 in the new body were identified based on reviews from real owners. More detailed pros and cons of the Datsun mi-DO with manual and automatic can be found in the stories below.

Owner reviews

The engine is high-torque. Ground clearance of 174 is a gift for a beginner. The Shumka is not up to par, but we must not forget how much money it was bought for (506,000 rubles + 30,000 for extras). The engine-gearbox pair works perfectly - the car is very nimble. Great review. Space and simplicity under the hood.

Matvey, drives a Datsun mi-DO 1.6 (87 horsepower) AT 2015

I’ve been driving this “Japanese” for 5 months now, everything makes me happy. It is better to fill in gasoline at 95, the engine runs cleaner and does not ring, although the difference in dynamics is imperceptible. Gasoline consumption is high. The on-board computer showed 7.4 liters per 888 km. The stove also works well, everything is ventilated everywhere, and the windows do not fog up.

There are also disadvantages. The front brake pads squeal a lot. Some kind of squabble in the engine compartment, trivial, something, somewhere not secured, too lazy to look, just rattling... (the crankcase protection was rattling, it was poorly secured during installation at the car dealership... I drove for two months and listened to the rattling))) And the biggest The drawback is the swing of the entire front panel with instruments. It feels like it will fall off, as if the tape recorder weighs 10 kg and it is this that is rocking the entire instrument panel.

Video review

It's unpleasant to see positive reviews, because... they give others the wrong idea about the car. The main disadvantage of mi-DO is the unreliability of the car. The car can easily stall while moving. And if you start from the beginning - immediately 3 km after the car show - I threw out the factory wipers, because... They don’t clean even at above-zero temperatures.

Consumption is actually amazing - 14.5 (!) liters in the city, 11 in mixed mode! what other car with 87 hp? capable of this? The doors are made of thin metal and ring terribly (in the summer I will fix it with a vibration noise). Crickets when leaving the dealership IMMEDIATELY! (I actually found it and fixed it, but new ones appear all the time).

Greetings, review readers! My name is Tatyana. In March, I purchased a Datsun mi-DO car and I want to share with you my impressions of the car I purchased. Thanks to its dimensions, the car allows you to park almost anywhere. But I also recommend it to lovers of fishing and country holidays - with its high ground clearance, the DO can easily cope with country roads. On the highway it doesn’t consume much, 7-8 l/km, which again is a plus of economical fuel consumption and saving your money.

Tatyana Ustinova, drives a Datsun mi-DO 1.6 (87 hp) AT 2015.

Where can I buy?

I bought it for southern roads and the same weather. I bought it consciously. Higher ground clearance, automatic, air conditioning, small size and lack of interest among car thieves, as well as maintainability.

Among the advantages, I will note the dynamics during acceleration. The machine has no failures at all. The air conditioning is very good, it doesn't actually take away any power. The ground clearance pleased me, and so far I haven’t touched the curbs yet. The brakes are peppy and tenacious. I was pleased with the behavior on the serpentine road. It's rushing and can still overtake!

I like the look. At least it has something of its own - a Japanese flagship! Visibility is also good; there are virtually no blind spots in front or on the sides.

The disadvantage is that everything is budget-friendly. It feels like you are riding in a bucket, but it doesn’t rattle yet, but it hums beautifully. Of course, for those who use it constantly, it would be good to soundproof it. The interior is spartan. For long distances - goodbye back.

Open the hood and you can shed a tear for the Japanese. A funny “eight-wheeled” motor sticks out. They couldn’t even figure out how to cover up this shame. But I think any tree climber can handle the repairs.

Review of Datsun mi-DO 1.6 (87 hp) automatic, 2016.

I am 75 years old, disabled group 2 since 2003 due to leg disease. Experience of accident-free driving on different brands of Lada MT - 45 years. I bought a 2016 Datsun Mi-Do AT in September. This was prompted by promotions on recycling and trade-in programs.

During the 4 months of the autumn-winter period I drove more than 3,000 km. along main and country roads. The pendant is wonderful. The car seemed fantastically convenient and extremely comfortable to me. The controls are perfectly easy. Nimble and mobile in parking lots. Easily turns around on a two-lane road in one go.

Nice comfortable seats (heated). The air conditioning and climate control work excellently and with a large margin. The cabin is quite quiet when driving. Nothing creaks or blows anywhere. Gasoline consumption in the city is from 8 to 10 liters. The speed gain is more than satisfactory for me. The review is good.

I would like brighter panel lighting and AT box shift knob lighting. Also missing is a heated windshield and automatic winter engine warm-up. A larger trunk would also be nice.

Vasily Novikov, review of Datsun Mi-DO 1.6 automatic 2016

Designed specifically for the Russian market. And at the 2014 Moscow Motor Show, the premiere of a hatchback based on it, which was called mi-DO, took place.

As in the case of the sedan, the new Datsun Mi-DO 2019 (photo and price) is based on a modernized platform from the car. But if outwardly the four-door looks more like Grant, standing out with an impressive trunk, then the five-door has a body like the Kalina hatchback.

Options and prices Datsun mi-DO 2019

MT5 - 5-speed manual, AT4 - 4-speed automatic.

At the front, the 2019 Datsun MiDo received a proprietary hexagonal radiator grille, which the company calls the “D-cut grill,” but the shape of the head optics is somewhat different from those installed on the sedan. And from the rear, the car can be distinguished from Kalina by modified lights and a slightly retouched trunk lid.

Compared to the sedan, the overall length of the Datsun mi-DO was reduced from 4,337 to 3,950 millimeters, while the width (1,700), height (1,500) and wheelbase (2,476) remained the same.

The interior design of the hatchback copies the four-door, and under the hood there is the same 1.6-liter eight-valve gasoline engine with an output of 87 hp, paired with a five-speed manual transmission. But the Jatco four-speed automatic transmission, which was not initially offered on-DO, was immediately available as an option.

In the autumn of 1917, the new Datsun Mi Do acquired a 106-horsepower version of the 1.6 engine (an additional payment of 15,000 rubles for it). At first, you can only buy a hatchback with such an engine in conjunction with a manual transmission, but later they promise to start equipping it with an automatic transmission.

Accepting orders for the new Datsun mi-DO in Russia started on February 4, 2015; today the price range for the five-door varies from 536,000 to 673,000 rubles. Thus, the basic version turned out to be 73,400 rubles. more expensive than Kalina. But the equipment of the MI-DO is richer - already in the initial version there is power steering, front airbags, side mirrors with electric drive and heating, an on-board computer and heated front seats.

For an additional fee, climate control and a multimedia system with a USB port, an SD card slot, Bluetooth and four speakers are offered. The top version of the Datsun Mi-DO 2019 includes foglights, light and rain sensors, electric windows on all doors, an audio system and 15-inch alloy wheels.
