Brake system. Brake actuator, brake pad material. Protection against wear of pads VIC Advantages of an anti-theft system using standard brakes

Car owners go to great lengths to prevent their vehicle from being stolen. Fantasies and ideas of protection are so diverse that they can be applied to almost any system in a car, “directing” its action to work as another obstacle to car theft. The braking system was no exception. Currently, there are security systems that block the brakes when trying to steal a car. We will talk in more detail about this non-standard use of brakes later.

The principle of operation of the anti-theft system using standard brakes

The algorithm of such an anti-theft system is something like this. In the brake system, after the main brake cylinder, a shut-off and check valve are installed, parallel to each other. During everyday use, the shut-off valve is constantly open and the brake system operates as normal. When arming, the shut-off valve closes and a check valve begins to operate, allowing brake fluid to flow only from the master cylinder to the brake cylinders. At the same time, pressing the brake pedal causes a one-way injection of brake fluid, without subsequent outflow, and activates the brake cylinders, which clamp the brake pads on the discs. That’s it, the car is locked in place, further movement is impossible without unlocking the shut-off valve, that is, “disarming”.

Cost of an anti-theft system using standard brakes

The cost of installing such a system is quite high. The thing is that this will require not only additional equipment, but also qualified installation, since intervention in the hydraulic circuits of the brake system will be required. The price including installation, depending on the complexity of the system being installed, will start at $900.

Advantages of an anti-theft system using standard brakes

The main advantage of the system is that it will prevent theft, that is, it will perform its main function. Another advantage will be that the car, when such an anti-theft system is activated, cannot be towed without being fully loaded onto a tow truck. Everything seems to look pretty “colorful” until you think about the downsides.

Disadvantages of an anti-theft system using standard brakes

Now about the cons. In fact, there are not so few of them, and what’s even worse is that they are decisive when choosing this option for protecting your car from theft.

When installing the system, it will be necessary to carry out qualified work to introduce additional equipment into the vehicle’s braking system.

Doing so may void your dealer's warranty, if you have one. When the thief determines the type of security system, he will not think for long about how to steal the car. It is enough to cut the rubber flexible hoses on the front wheels to depressurize the two diagonal circuits of the car’s brake system, and the wheels will become “free.” Yes, driving with a faulty brake system is difficult, but it is POSSIBLE! But “to help” such movement with a faulty braking system will be an emergency hand brake, because no one has canceled its operation.

Mechanical brake lock Technoblock ( Tecnoblock, Italia) is designed to protect against theft of various categories of vehicles: passenger cars of domestic and foreign production, including SUVs, all types of trucks, road construction vehicles, wheeled and tracked special equipment, trailers and semi-trailers, truck tractors.

The peculiarity of the Tecnoblock lock is that no electronic devices are used to protect the vehicle from theft, and there is no connection to the mechanical components of the car. The principle of operation of the Technoblock blocker is based on blocking the operation of the pneumatic and hydraulic systems and blocking the starter.

The secrecy of the brake lock is ensured by the secret installation of the Technoblock brake lock in the car. The security mode is activated using a locking mechanism, the lock cylinder of which is located inside the car.

The vehicle's hydraulic and pneumatic systems are locked thanks to a professionally built-in mechanical check valve, which is controlled by turning the key in the lock cylinder of the locking mechanism. The hydraulic and pneumatic systems of the car are locked thanks to a professionally built-in mechanical check valve, which is controlled by turning the key in the lock cylinder of the locking mechanism.

In the event of an attempted theft, the Tecnoblock brake lock is activated when the clutch or brake pedal is pressed, eliminating the very possibility of the vehicle moving independently. Thus, the Technoblock lock provides reliable protection for the car, since it is impossible to steal a vehicle with a broken clutch and locked wheels.

In order to disarm the vehicle, just turn the key in the opposite direction. Setting the Technoblock brake lock to security mode is carried out only when the vehicle is stopped. When the vehicle is moving, the security mode is turned off and does not in any way affect the operation of the standard equipment of the car.

High reliability of the Technoblock brake lock is ensured by strengthening the body of the locking device, protecting it from drilling and turning the lock cylinder using power equipment. The lock provides an increased safe level of secrecy, thanks to the possibility of using 27О.ООО.ООО.ООО in various combinations. The set includes three keys with complex laser perforation on 4 edges in the form of recesses of an unusual oval shape, which provides reliable protection against counterfeiting. Each key's twelve-digit personal identification number is engraved on the metal part of each key.

An attempt to break into the locking mechanism leads to depressurization of the pneumatic and hydraulic systems of the vehicle, making its further operation impossible.

Since dismantling the Technoblock brake lock and subsequent restoration of the vehicle's functionality requires a lot of effort and serious time investment, theft of a car equipped with this security is of no interest to criminals.

Tecnoblock provides a high degree of vehicle protection in the following situations:

  • when attempting a traditional theft from a parking space;
  • when theft using stolen car keys;
  • when the car is left with the engine running to warm up in winter;
  • in case of elementary forgetfulness when arming the vehicle;
  • when trying to dismantle the system;
  • when using special radio-electronic means.

Depending on the selected configuration of Technoblock brake blocking devices, the system provides simple (standard) vehicle security or active (mandatory) security.

The locker provides visual control of the mode: the activation of the “Security” mode is signaled by a flashing red LED (it is possible to connect a blue LED separately).

Operating temperature range: from – 40 to +85 degrees Celsius. (Tecnoblock) for a passenger car takes from 4 to 6 hours, and to equip a truck it will take from 6 to 12 hours.

The high-tech mechanical brake lock Tecnoblock complies with the new EU Safety Directives, which apply to vehicles operated in European countries. In addition, this equipment is recommended for use by reliable domestic and foreign insurance and leasing companies.

For luxury and business class cars, expensive buses, special and construction equipment, a discount to the base insurance rate covers the cost of installing the Technoblock during a year of vehicle operation. For other types of vehicles, the savings on insurance in 2-3 years fully cover the costs incurred for equipping the Technoblock security system.

The installation and operation of the Tecnoblock brake lock is permitted by the Russian State Standard and approved by the certification center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The factory warranty for a new car is retained when installing the Technoblock system.

Warranty service for the Technoblock brake lock lasts 36 months from the date of installation (sale) of the system.

A brake system lock is an anti-theft system that blocks the standard hydraulic or pneumatic lines of a vehicle. If you press the brake pedal in the “security” mode before starting to move, the locking is activated. The car will be prevented from being stolen by its own braking system. When attempting to break into or dismantle, the brake system depressurizes, which prevents theft. When the vehicle is moving, the blocker does not interfere with the operation of the braking system. Insurance modifications take into account the interests of insurance companies and can significantly reduce the cost of CASCO insurance.

Brake system lock Technoblock– purely mechanical anti-theft system. Production - Italy. The technoblock is popular among owners of premium brands of cars, especially when it is impossible to install other anti-theft systems. The check valve installed in the hydraulic system is controlled from a safe-type “KABA” cylinder mounted in the car interior on the driver’s side. One of the options for the location of the anti-theft system cylinder Technoblock:

The Great Guard anti-theft system also blocks the hydraulic brake system with a check valve. The system is controlled by an IR remote control, which is almost completely protected from electronic hacking. To disarm the system, the driver must enter a code on the remote control. The control electronic unit is located under the hood. The power supply in this blocker is used only when turning the security mode on and off. Great Guard has a more affordable price compared to Technoblock. The control panel looks like this:

The check valve that blocks the brake system is located under the hood of all anti-theft systems of this type (for Great Guard, all electronics are also located). Therefore, we recommend installing Technoblock and Great Guard together with a hood opening blocker.

Braking devices for mine drum hoisting machines with a drum diameter of up to 3.5 m

Lifting machines with a drum diameter of up to 3.5 m are equipped with brake devices with spring-hydraulic, spring-pneumatic and pneumatic spring-load brake drives.

Braking devices with spring-hydraulic brake drive have two executive bodies, two spring-hydraulic drives, a control and locking station. The actuators operate synchronously and are used both during working and safety braking. Each shoe-type brake actuator acts on the brake drum rim, creating half the required braking torque.

The brake actuator consists of brake pads 8, pivotally connected to brake beams 6. The latter are installed on supports 10, fixed to the machine frame with bolts and stops. Press-mass friction linings 7 are fixed to the brake pads. The movement of the brake beams is limited by a stop 9. The angle lever 3 is pivotally connected to the right brake beam 6, and the horizontal rod 2 and the hinged head 1 are connected to the left brake beam. Rod 4 of the brake drive is connected to the angular lever 3. When rod 4 moves down (up), the brake pads 8 move closer together (withdrawal). The gap between the rim and the brake pads is evenly distributed by a spring link 5. The hinge connections of the actuator are made on plain bearings, lubrication which is carried out through axial and radial drillings in the connecting rollers.

In the most common actuators of radial type brakes, press blocks act on single-drum steel or cast iron rims connected to a rope winding element. The lifting machine has two brake rims, and each is acted upon by a pair of pads. The pads must have the property of being ugly, high strength, and wear resistance, which is maintained at temperatures up to 200-250 0 C. for a long time, without loss of braking properties, insensitive to oil and water.

To weaken the tension of the rope at the point of its attachment to the drum, there must be at least 3 turns of friction on the surface of the drum when lining with wood and molding material, and at least 5 turns of friction on drums not lined with friction materials. In addition to the friction turns, there must be spare turns for periodic testing of the rope.

If there is more than one layer of winding on the drum, the flange of the drum should protrude above the top layer by 2.5 times the diameter of the rope.

When inspecting a brake rim, you must:

  1. the condition of the rim and the reliability of its connection to the drum. In case of significant wear of the brake rim, the latter must be reinforced with special linings or replaced with a new one; the minimum permissible thickness of the brake rim is agreed with the manufacturer. The working surface of the brake rim must be flat and smooth. If there are ridges, scratches, grooves or dents, the rim should be sharpened or sanded. Remove minor defects by cleaning and polishing. The size of the ledges at the joints of the brake rims should not exceed 0.1 mm. For large displacements, the protruding edge of the joint must be machined flush or a protrusion with a radius of at least 100 m must be filled in. Oil or water must not get on the working surface of the brake rims;
  2. The amount of runout of the brake rim is measured with an indicator installed on a rigid base in two or three sections along the width of the rim. The indicator can be installed on the parts of the brake actuator if there is complete confidence in the immobility of these parts during measurement. The brake rim speed when measured should be 0.2-0.3 m/s. In this case, it is desirable that the brake does not participate in the operation, and the required speed is provided by the electric drive system of the machine, since the operation of the brake can introduce a measurement error, even if the indicator is not attached to the brake actuator. For machines in operation, the permissible runout value can be taken larger and amount to up to 0.8 mm for machines with a drum diameter of up to 3.5 m.
  3. Heating temperature. Excessive heating can be caused by poor fit of the brake pads, incorrect adjustment of the brake actuator, incomplete braking of the vehicle due to incorrect adjustment of the brake actuator, or bulging of the rim (due to local heating). The appearance of tarnish on the rim and burning of the pads is unacceptable.

The reliability of the brake and the durability of the brake pads largely depend on the technical condition of the brake rim. The working surface of the brake rim must be clean and smooth. As a result of operation, scratches, roughness, and cracks may appear on the brake rim at the junction of the two halves of the rim.

If there are scratches or roughness, the rim is sanded. If cracks are detected in the welded joints of the brake rim halves, the weld at the crack site is removed and welded again.

When slippage occurs, the brake rim is machined and then ground. Rim slippage or local bulges negatively affect the performance of the braking system. When the convex part of the rim passes under the brake block when the car is braking, the braking torque increases, then after this part comes out from under the block, the braking torque decreases.

In addition, the ellipse of the rim causes increased gaps between the brake pads and the rim, which increases the idle speed and brake response time, as well as the stroke length of the brake cylinder pistons.

The runout of the brake rim is measured by an indicator. If the runout of the brake rim exceeds the permissible values, grind it.

If the brake rim is significantly worn, it must be reinforced with special linings or replaced with a new one. The minimum permissible thickness of the brake rim must be agreed with the manufacturer.

Do not allow excessive heating of the brake rim. Its t should not exceed 70 0

If the brake rim and pads are heated excessively, the coefficient of friction between them also decreases.

Excessive brake heating rim damage can be caused by poor fit of the brake pads, incorrect adjustment of the brake actuator, incomplete braking of the vehicle due to incorrect adjustment of the brake actuator, as well as bulging of the rim (due to local heating). If excessive heating of the brake rims is caused by intensive use of the brake in operating modes, it is recommended to use electrodynamic braking to reduce the involvement of the brake.
