The adjustment ranges are record-breaking. The seat moves in several (longitudinal, height, angle of inclination) planes and everywhere on long distances. Lateral support in shallow turns is optimal. You don’t need more, because the Elantra is an ordinary sedan, not a sports car.

To a large extent, the stability of the exchange rate is also influenced by the increased rigidity of the body: the share of ordinary steel decreased from 43% to 31.5%, the number of hot stamping steel, on the contrary, increased from 3% to 14.7%, high-strength steel - from 15.1% to 36 %, and ultra-high strength from 18% to 38.3%.

Hyundai-Elantra: No complaints about handling.

The two-liter engine is optimal for the Elantra. It is enough for confident surfing in traffic. It’s a pity that the market will most likely be dominated by the initial 1.6 with 128 horsepower and 155 Nm. The same engine can be found under the hood of the Hyundai i30, Kia Cerato. Based on the results of acquaintance with such a unit on other models of the concern, you can definitely state that it allows you to frolic noticeably less than its two-liter colleague. The declared power (apparently taking into account the peculiarities of Russian taxation) is funny: 149.6 hp. with a torque of 192 Nm. And although, looking at the technical specifications, it is clear that this engine is resourceful (150 hp at 6200 rpm, 192 N∙m at 4000 rpm), the unit feels like it starts to move starting from the two thousand mark on the tachometer. The adaptive six-speed automatic transmission makes a significant contribution to acceleration. Sports mode he doesn’t have it, but with active pressure on the gas pedal he is not averse to maintaining low gears. There is no need to prepare for overtaking. I just turned off the gas and drove off. The accelerator itself is surprisingly responsive, especially by modern standards. It’s easy to dose acceleration.

Subtle shortcomings of the 2-liter engine, which can be forgiven for its elasticity and traction - a trolleybus howl in the initial zone of the tachometer and relatively high consumption: 8-10 liters per hundred kilometers in the combined cycle.

There is a lack of acoustic comfort when traveling on the highway. No sound insulation. Even through the music, you can hear the tires rustling in the wheel arches and small pebbles crashing. After a hundred kilometers per hour, the voice of the wind cuts through the area of ​​​​the exterior mirrors. At highway speeds, conversations in the cabin have to be conducted in a raised voice.

Inside

It's funny that conversations inside are accompanied by a noticeable echo. A rare occurrence for a car interior, meaning big number hard finishing materials from which sounds are reflected.

Hyundai-Elantra: Probably, the absence of the European Union in the supply map gave the Koreans a free hand in terms of choosing finishing materials. The plastic is hard almost everywhere, making it feel like you're sitting in a car from yesteryear.

The updated Elantra decided to take a slightly different route. This car will probably be able to instill a love for the looks among consumers. The appearance of the current generation can no longer be called ordinary. As for the 2016 Hyundai Elantra, it tries to be a more solid car.

Appearance

The appearance of the car is distinguished by dynamic lines, as well as a rather large 6-angled radiator grille. The 6th generation of this model received the code designation AD. Experts have suggested that the new product from Hyundai will boast head optics that have LED sections. The i20 hatch (second generation) is designed in a similar style. In the photographs you can clearly see the low sloping roof.

The designers decided to significantly change the trunk and roof contour. It is worth noting that the body of the new product was drawn “from scratch.” As for the glazing, it turned out to be narrower. The rear glass flows more smoothly into the luggage compartment lid. At the rear, the image of the new Elantra is decorated with a spoiler. The door located here has changed due to the appearance of a window.

Interior

In the cabin, small recesses appeared in the door armrests. Previously there were large sloping handles. A questionable choice from a Korean automaker.

The control panel occupies the same place; in its central part you can see a new display. You can now operate the machine, as well as various options, as simply as possible.

The speedometer and tachometer are located in wells, so at night the information displayed on them will be much easier to view.

To heat the interior, there are openings located on the side of the control console. This will make it much easier for the driver to control the air flow.

A modern multimedia system, the main feature of which is a 6-inch touch screen, is not available to buyers of the basic version.

Technical features

It is unlikely that we should expect a special revolution in the 2016 Elantra model. technically. Perhaps the platform will be the same. However, due to the availability of large quantities of high-strength steel, engineers will be able to reduce weight and also increase passive safety. Engineers should work hard on the suspension and steering wheel settings.

Power units

The sixth generation of the Elantra model will receive 2 types of engines:

  • diesel engines;
  • turbo engines fueled with gasoline.

The most powerful is the 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle MPi with 149 hp. and a torque of 180 Nm.

All engines are offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. For diesel version A 7-speed DCT automatic is also available.

I wonder if these will power units as economical as the ? There is a high probability of a hybrid Elantra appearing in the future. The creation of an electric version of the car should not be ruled out.

Debut and price tag

The production version of the 2016 model was unveiled in Korea in early September and sales will begin next year. It can be assumed that the new product from Hyundai will become more expensive.
