Exterior

The profile of the new car looks good. The design team really did a good job here. They were able to combine the “trolley” of the sedan and the side part of the hatchback in such a way that you won’t immediately understand what’s what. Inside the Lifan X 50 crossover is made of inexpensive but pleasant plastic, which is diluted with silver-colored inserts that imitate metal. The front seats offer little in the way of lateral support and have a flat profile. It is worth noting that plain dark plastic is very noisy when tapped and also emits an unpleasant odor.

You can notice a lack of proper ergonomics on the seats. The cushion turned out to be short, but the chairs are trimmed with leather even in the basic version. The centrally mounted console looks good. But the steering wheel can only be adjusted according to the angle of inclination, and this cannot be done according to the reach. The fact that the tachometer turned out to be red is not so bad; the needle on it also turned red, which is why it is simply impossible to see important information.


Dashboard

According to the results of unbiased test drives of the car, they talk about its advantages and disadvantages, but, in general, they demonstrated that Lifan Industry Co.Ltd. managed to avoid the mistakes that were inherent in previously produced vehicles.

I was pleasantly pleased with the presence of a sufficient number of pockets and various niches for small things, which has a good effect on ease of use. There are several pseudo-lines running along the dashboard, which are supposed to visually divide the panel into several parts, but in reality they only spoil the view. Despite the fact that there is enough headroom for people sitting behind, there is clearly not enough room in the knees. In the pre-restyling version, the luggage compartment volume was 570 liters, but now it has been increased to 650 liters. If necessary, it is possible to fold the rear sofa and increase the useful volume of the luggage compartment to 1136 liters.

Speaking about the technical stuffing of the Lifan X50 crossover 2015, Chinese designers decided to install only one gasoline unit under the hood with a displacement of 1.5 liters and 103 hp. The luggage compartment volume of the X50 crossover is stated by the manufacturer at the level of 570 liters; if desired, the trunk capacity can be increased by folding the back of the rear seat, but a flat floor surface cannot be achieved, the back forms a fairly high step. There is a spare tire under the raised floor.

For the X50, only one engine is offered - a gasoline “four” with a displacement of 1.5 liters (1498 cubic centimeters), producing 103 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 133 Nm of maximum torque at 3500-4500 rpm. The engine is paired not only with a 5-speed manual transmission, but also with a continuously variable transmission. In the first case, the Lifan X50 is capable of developing a peak speed of 170 km/h, consuming an average of 6.3 liters of fuel in mixed mode, in the second – 160 km/h and 6.5 liters, respectively.

The car has a classic suspension design for its class: MacPherson struts on the front axle and a torsion beam with anti-roll bar on the rear axle. An electric power steering is integrated into the steering mechanism of the car, and the braking system is represented by ventilated disc devices on the front axle and conventional disc devices on the rear axle.

An inexpensive crossover appeared on our market in the summer of 2015. However, annual sales are not large. Therefore, it is not easy to notice a car in the general flow of cars. However, relative to other Chinese cars, the Lifan X50 is popular in its narrow segment.

The compact crossover in China was created according to an already tested scheme. Usually the manufacturer takes a small hatchback, increases the ground clearance, puts protective plastic all around, and in general the car is ready. The Chinese took a small sedan Lifan Celliya (Lifan 530) for their new model, cut off the rear part, increased the ground clearance, changed the front end, a little plastic and the car is ready. Naturally, the engine and gearbox are from the same Lifan 530. The model is assembled at the Derways plant in Cherkessk, like most models of the Chinese brand in Russia. Lifan's own plant in Lipetsk was never completed due to the crisis.

Appearance Lifan X50 It’s difficult to call it outstanding. Large radiator grille, large headlights with LED elements, DRLs. There are roof rails on the roof. But the actual ground clearance turns out to be less than stated. Actually this is visible to the naked eye. In general, the exterior is typically Chinese, something was borrowed here, something there. According to Russian dealers, the system of painting and body treatment has been improved at the request of workers. The thickness of the paintwork has been increased, and there will be fewer problems with “saffron caps” and rust. Since the entire body is now required to be dipped into a cataphoresis bath. Salon Lifan X 50 typically Chinese. Not very ergonomic chairs, low quality plastic, and the “leather” leaves much to be desired. Although visually the center console, steering wheel, and instrument panel look harmonious and quite decent. But as always, little things spoil the whole impression. For example, the steering wheel can only be adjusted by tilt angle. It will no longer be possible to pull the steering wheel towards you. The wheelbase is only a little over 2.5 meters, so the rear passengers are frankly cramped.

The trunk, after the rear of the Lifan 530 sedan was “rejected,” turned out to be very small, only 280 liters. However, if you throw out the shelf and load it to the ceiling, then the volume increases to 570 liters. You can also fold the rear seats, and this is already a decent 1480 liters! There is also a full-size spare wheel.

In technical terms, the car is a hodgepodge. The Chinese actively use foreign technologies, sometimes not very successfully. In the case of the Lifan concern, the main donor was Toyota. Many Japanese solutions are also used in this Lifan.

Engine Lifan X 50, this is a 4-cylinder in-line 16 valve engine of the LF479Q2-B series developing 103 hp. with a torque of 133 Nm. The volume of the power unit is only 1.5 liters and has a variable valve timing system. Most likely this is an aluminum cylinder block and a timing chain drive (although the data is conflicting). For example, the new Solano 2 has a more recent design with a cast iron block and timing belt. It is possible to find out more precisely only by opening it, since even the manufacturer himself has completely different data related to the difficulties of translation.

As a transmission, the front-wheel drive SUV received a 5-speed manual (14A5/LD515MF-2) and a continuously variable CVT (RDC 15-FB) as an automatic transmission. The suspension is quite energy-intensive - independent MacPherson strut at the front, and semi-independent at the rear (deformable beam). There are disc brakes on all wheels, and they are naturally ventilated at the front. The steering mechanism is rack and pinion with electric amplifier.

Interior

The Lifan x 50 crossover has a stylish and quite cozy interior, decorated in red tones. Cheap but high-quality materials are used as finishing materials.

The crossover's sporty-looking seats are covered in black leather with red stitched lines and harmonize well with the color of the instrument lighting. The instrument panel, in the center of which there is a tachometer with a red scale and the same background lighting, goes well with the red air conditioning button located in the middle of the center console. The sporty style of the crossover's interior is emphasized by metal inserts on the steering wheel spokes and on the gearshift knob, as well as wide bells in which the instrument cluster is installed.

The dashboard of the Lifan x 50 also features a modern design, which, in addition to the tachometer, contains the following:
