Comparison of Mitsubishi Lancer X sedan and Skoda Octavia A5 restyling. Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback vs Skoda Octavia: Theory and practice of temptation There is never too much space

Despite the widespread expansion of five-door hatchbacks into the domestic automobile market, the position of “three-volume” hatchbacks is still strong and they have a large army of potential customers. Which side should a person looking for a 5-7-year-old car lean towards - the practicality of Skoda, or the emotionality of Mitsubishi?

The X was unveiled in January 2007 at the Detroit Auto Show. The appearance of the production car was preceded by the demonstration of several concept cars, on which the external forms of a new style for the company were honed. The price of a mistake was high, because making a mistake with the design meant losing a whole mountain of orders. But designers and marketers were right.

The “Japanese” with the internal factory index CY2A has two body types - a sedan and a five-door hatchback. It is interesting that the prefix X in the name is interpreted ambiguously: both as the tenth generation of the model, and as “X”, meaning a sharp and expressive style of the car.

The second generation appeared in 2004, the car underwent a serious restyling five years later - in 2008, the veil of secrecy from which was lifted at the Paris Auto Show. It is the restyled version that we will consider in our review. Changes affected the design of the front and rear parts of the body, new engines and transmissions, audio systems and security systems appeared. Skoda was produced in five-door liftback and station wagon versions.

Pride - strong bodies

The main difference between the compared cars is their appearance. “Mitsik” has a bright and expressive design, which may not be to everyone’s liking, but will definitely not leave your downstream neighbors indifferent. Even today people pay attention to these cars, but 9 years ago it was just a break in the mold. It’s gratifying that there are no complaints about the quality of the metal and paintwork of the “Japanese”. Corrosion on used cars can only occur on the edges of the wheel arches, as well as in areas damaged as a result of minor accidents.

Octavia is the design antipode of Mitsubishi. Calm features, smooth lines, artificially blown shapes will appeal to older people and those who do not like to stand out. By and large, the Czech body is also devoid of proprietary problem areas where metal corrosion often occurs. If a 5-year-old car has not been in trouble on the road, then there is no need to worry and look for traces of the “red” disease, you simply will not find it.

There is never too much space

The Lancer's interior is designed less provocatively than the exterior. The controls are simple and clear, the “stuffed” versions can boast of climate control, a multifunction steering wheel, etc. The dashboard plastic, although hard to the touch, begins to make noise only on cars with a mileage of more than 100 thousand km on our roads. The “Japanese” has a wheelbase that is 5 centimeters longer than its competitor. And all this difference falls precisely on the usable legroom for front and rear passengers. Three adult riders can easily fit in the back. The luggage compartment volume is 430 liters, which is not very much. This value can be increased by folding the backrests of the second row, but transporting large items will be hindered by the narrowed opening between the passenger compartment and the trunk by the body reinforcement.

Despite the visually large size of the Skoda, there is slightly less space in the cabin. There is enough space for three adults in the back row of seats, but those sitting in the center will be hampered by the impressively sized central tunnel. The interior materials are of slightly better quality, so they give up and start squeaking later than the competitor's. A distinctive feature of the car is its impressive trunk size. It is 130 liters more than the “Japanese” (560 versus 430 liters), and by folding the rear seats we get a loading area that can accommodate 1620 liters of useful luggage.

All motors have different taste and color.

The engine range of both cars is moderately diverse. The Skoda Octavia A5 was offered with several petrol engines of 1.2-2.0 liters with a capacity of 102-200 hp. With. and four diesel engines with a volume of 1.6-2.0 liters (105-170 hp). In principle, all units have proven themselves to be reliable. But workers at official service stations advise choosing an old and well-tested 1.6-liter gasoline unit. Although it does not shine with dynamic performance and fuel economy, it is much cheaper to maintain. The engines can be paired with 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, as well as 6- and 7-speed DSG robotic transmissions.

Mitsubishi Lancer X was supplied to our market only with 1.5-2.0 liter gasoline engines with a capacity of 109-154 hp. With. Most engines are devoid of characteristic diseases, except that after 100 thousand km the front crankshaft oil seal may begin to leak. The 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic and CVT also last a long time, but do not like overheating.

Who does the wallet miss?

There is an opinion among car enthusiasts that servicing cars of the Volkswagen AG concern, which includes the Skoda Octavia, costs much more than its competitors. But the prices for “consumables” and popular components indicate the opposite; servicing “Japanese” and “German” costs approximately the same. Of course, we are talking about original parts and official service. If you buy spare parts of dubious quality and visit garage technicians, then the order of the numbers will be different, but there is no guarantee.

According to the editors, Skoda is more suitable for practical family men who sometimes go to the countryside and wholesale markets to buy vegetables. Mitsubishi will appeal to young people, who rarely have anything in their trunk other than a sports bag and a couple of bags from the supermarket, and self-expression is not the last thing. But the main thing is that both cars will become faithful companions thanks to their reliable and proven design.

Lancer 10 is a car that has proven itself positively among car owners. It is reliable, safe, economical, modern, but not without its drawbacks.

Competitors take advantage of this by creating cars that can force buyers to give up choosing Mitsubishi.

These cars also have design flaws that do not allow Lancer X to be forced out of the market.

Lancer 10 or Mazda

Choosing which car is better between Mitsubishi and Mazda 3 is quite difficult. The advantages that Mazda has are:

  • high-quality sound insulation;
  • The interior plastic looks more expensive;
  • absence of “crickets”;
  • headlight washer;
  • Daytime running lights do not require complex activation.

The disadvantages of the Mazda 3 compared to the Lancer are:

  • The material of the buttons is too soft, so they remain scratched during operation;
  • worse handling in corners;
  • the paintwork is more susceptible to damage.

If we compare with the Mazda 6, then the Lancer is clearly inferior in dynamics and controllability. The disadvantage of the Mazda 6 is that the ground clearance is too low. After installing the crankcase protection, there may be problems with overcoming obstacles on the road.

Comparison of Lancer X and Ford Focus

If the car owner has a large appearance, then it is better to refuse to purchase a Ford Focus. The interior is too cramped for people whose height exceeds 180 cm. The car also has a number of minor technical shortcomings:

  • wipers do not clean the windshield well;
  • condensation forms in the headlights;
  • The quality of plastic in the pre-restyling version is low, so to avoid “crickets” you should choose Focus 2;
  • poor visibility in the rear view mirrors;
  • chafing of the trunk lock wiring.

You should choose the Ford Focus if you want to own a car with a diesel engine. It is highly reliable. The remaining engines have a shorter lifespan and are very demanding, although they do not suffer from oil loss like the 1.5 liter engine from Mitsubishi. In general, this car is designed for measured, city driving.

Mitsubishi Lancer 10 vs Chevrolet Cruze

The Chevrolet Cruze has mediocre dynamics, so if the car owner wants a sporty ride, then the choice should be made towards the Lancer 10 ralliart with 2.0 or 2.4 liter power plants.

Also something Chevrolet Cruze owners need to come to terms with is a less practical interior. The plastic looks cheaper than that of the Lancer X. The interior is made in light colors, which causes it to get dirty quickly. The steering wheel is made of artificial leather, which causes rapid wear of the coating. In general, with the same service life, the Lancer X interior looks more attractive.

The advantage of the Chevrolet Cruze lies in the reliability of the power plant. All childhood engine problems have already been solved by the manufacturer, so the engine causes virtually no trouble to the car owner.

Lancer X or Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is able to compete with the Lancer 10. The car has good dynamic performance. Noise insulation is a level higher than that of Mitsubishi. The engine's reliability level corresponds to the 1.8 liter Lancer X engine, which is famous for its long service life.

Civic 8 will help you not to get lost in traffic. Its design is filled with futurism. Dynamic performance is not inferior to Lancer 10.

The power plant of the Civic 4D is quite reliable, but like on 1.5 liter Mitsubishi engines, coking occurs when reaching 100 thousand km. Structurally, the power unit is more advanced than the one and a half liter Lancer 10 engine.

The disadvantage of the Civic is that the suspension is too soft. When cornering, rolls occur, and when driving over bumps, the shock absorbers often break through.

Mitsubishi Lancer X and Toyota Corolla

The advantages and disadvantages of the Toyota Corolla originate from the manufacturer’s policy regarding the introduction of innovations. Toyota Motor Corporation constantly strives to make its car as modern as possible. Therefore, design changes are constantly being made during the production process. Among them, there are both successful solutions and clearly unsuccessful ones. For example, the Corolla 150 has an option with a robotic gearbox, which turned out to be very problematic.

The choice of Toyota Corolla is in most cases justified, since the car has a number of advantages over Lancer 10:

  • more reliable electrics;
  • precise operation of the manual transmission;
  • long service life before the oil burner begins, which the 1.5 liter Lancer 10 engine cannot boast of.

Comparison of Lancer X with Kia Rio

The Kia Rio has a well-built interior and a spacious trunk. Sound insulation is worse than in Mitsubishi. Also noticeable are a lot of uneven seams and uneven paintwork. Handling is worse than that of Lancer 10. Reliability is also quite inferior to Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Lancer X compared to Hyundai Solaris

Solaris has a six-speed automatic transmission. This allows for acceleration with virtually no jolts. Despite the smaller engine capacity, which is 1.4 liters, the car shows itself to be voracious, especially in urban conditions, consuming up to 11-11.5 liters per 100 km.

Lancer 10 or Skoda Octavia

The Skoda Octavia has a turbocharged version in its engine line with technology for reducing engine displacement. This allows, depending on the need, to obtain either high efficiency or excellent dynamic performance. For example, the Octavia can accelerate to 100 km/h in 8 seconds.

Inspection of Lancer 10 before purchase

What to look for when purchasing a Mitsubishi Lancer X is summarized in the table below.

Node or systemNote
EngineCompression control for 1.5 engines
BodyRust spots are most common in cars produced before 2011
Lubrication systemThe oil leak is typical for 1.5 liter engines. It is possible to squeeze out lubricant through oil seals and seals due to increased pressure of crankcase gases
TransmissionIt is necessary to check the oil in the variator and automatic transmission. If there is a burning smell, then it is better to refuse to purchase a car.

Good afternoon, so I decided to write my review about this car.

Before that I drove the entire VAZ model range, Volga 3102, Lanos. We bought a car from a dealership in 2007. Over the three years of using the car, only consumables have been changed.

What can I tell you about Lancer? This is an excellent car in its class in terms of price/quality ratio. In three years it has never let me down. Once I was driving from Belgorod to St. Petersburg (1500 km), and it took 15 hours. The car behaved perfectly on the road, but because of the “stupid” automatic, you have to predict the traffic situation and act for 1-2 seconds. in advance. The seats, in my opinion, are good, comfortable to sit over long distances. The reviews wrote that the steering wheel tilt was poor. My height is 192 cm, I sit quietly behind the wheel. Everything suits me.

Strengths:

  • Reliability
  • Passability for this class

Weak sides:

  • The trunk lid does not close well (the dealer said it was a disease)

Review of Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0 (Mitsubishi Lancer) 2007

16.03.2010

Hello!

I bought a car at a time when the queues for these miracles of technology were like a mausoleum in their time. I asked friends in neighboring Krasnodar and Rostov to periodically run around the salons and report on the presence of anything at all. With all this, I didn’t want to feel the emotions of a person who buys a Ferrari, ordering it 46.5 months in advance - he took only from what was in stock.

Strengths:

  • Price quality
  • Controllability
  • Brakes
  • Omnivorous 91-98

Weak sides:

  • Noise insulation
  • Low Beam

Review of Mitsubishi Lancer 1.8 (Mitsubishi Lancer) 2008

This is my first own car. When purchasing, of course, like any woman far from technology, she was guided by the choice of appearance. My husband (he has a Pajero) thought about other characteristics. I had to wait 2 months at the official dealer. When I received the car (I had driven it several times before on occasion), I thought that I would be afraid to drive. However, unexpectedly for myself, from the first time I felt the ease of operation and obedience of my Ulanushka. I drove it from the salon myself, registered it myself, underwent maintenance, my husband was only surprised. Despite the fact that the car was bought for me just to go shopping, go to the dacha, etc. (I work 5 steps from home), I fell in love with her so much that not a day went by without her. There is nothing to compare with, but she obeys me unquestioningly. I race it, of course, but that’s what it’s made for.

Of the expenses, of course - T.O. zero 6,000 with oil change. For 15,000 - 7 thousand.

Overall I'm very pleased. The back is spacious and comfortable. The trunk opens from the inside, which is also a big plus. The only drawback is probably poor sound insulation. But every car must have its own small drawback, otherwise there would have been one model driving on the roads long ago - the name of which is perfection.......

Strengths:

  • Large, comfortable salon
  • Frisky, obedient

Weak sides:

  • A bit noisy

Review of Mitsubishi cedia (Mitsubishi Lancer) 2001

I was looking for an inexpensive right-hand drive car. The choice was between Lancer, Civic and Corolla (after Lancer, I still had both Civic and Corolla). I came across a Red Lancer in very good configuration. It cost 50-70 thousand rubles cheaper than its brothers due to the fact that the roof was scratched and the varnish came off on the right doors. I decided to take it because... my friend, who works in a car service, eliminated these shortcomings for 10 thousand rubles. First of all, I bought good music, rubber mats, changed the oil and filter everywhere and went for tinting.

I really liked the car. The light beige interior and wood-like inserts made of normal high-quality plastic were reassuring. Sound insulation was also good. I really liked the variator. There are no switches. Everything happens smoothly: both acceleration and braking. And when you switch the gearbox to sport mode and sharply press the gas pedal several times, the lancer’s temper simply changes before our eyes. And if you press the pedal to the floor, the tachometer needle rises to 5 thousand revolutions and does not fall until it reaches maximum speed. By the way, I don’t know what the maximum speed is according to his passport, but he put the speedometer needle down without straining, and this is 180 km/h. In general, the car constantly asked to be turned on, just like the BMWs that I later had. Now I call these Lancers economy class Bimmers. My Laner held the road perfectly. I never threw any surprises anywhere.

The first five thousand passed without problems. These same five thousand km included the trip to Moscow (2800 km). On the way, I realized that it is dangerous to go further than the Krasnodar Territory on the right hand drive, because... overtaking becomes risky. It's good that we were traveling together. One was driving, the other was looking to see if there was an opportunity to overtake. On the way back, at the entrance to Krasnodar, a metallic grinding noise suddenly appeared when braking. Yes, so strong that I was scared, I thought something had fallen off. It turned out that the pads were either worn out or crumbled. The next day I went and bought new ones for 1000 rubles. They changed it in 5 minutes. I started to leave the service station, but there were no brakes. Almost hit a parked car. They drove us back. Everything is fine. But the brakes don't appear. They dismantled everything and put it back together again, but their loved ones were still missing. Nobody could understand the reason. And my mood began to deteriorate, because... the next day there was a trip to Sochi. And then, out of nowhere, an elderly man appeared in the same Lancer. It was he who revealed the secret. The pads are not original. And on one side the plate separating the pad and the caliper was loosely pressed by literally a millimeter. That's why there are no such brakes. He says it’s exactly the same. In general, the masters stuffed something in there and I drove on as if nothing had happened. I don’t know how this millimeter affected the brakes, but the next time I bought normal pads for 3000, this problem disappeared. And those poor ones for a thousand exhausted themselves after 4 thousand kilometers. After another couple of thousand, the light went out. Burnt out. I changed the bulbs and everything returned to normal.

First, about the most difficult part. Namely about design. There is no objective assessment of this quality of the car. But there are statistics. And it is such that seven out of ten people think the Lancer Sportback is more beautiful than the Skoda Octavia. And what does it mean? Yes, absolutely nothing. Because even if 99 people out of 100 find “The Best Film 2” an interesting film, it does not at all follow that it urgently needs to be included in the golden fund of world cinema. Moreover, mass culture, the creation of which, of course, includes middle-class passenger cars, contains a lot of vulgar things, but few things that are truly outstanding. This is also statistics. And based on it, one cannot conclude that the Mitsubishi Lancer is vulgar, and the Skoda Octavia is an outstanding thing. The converse statement also does not apply. I just want to once again emphasize the conventionality and bias of the aesthetic perception of things. It is obvious that for many people, the design of a car is the main and sometimes even the only criterion when purchasing. If you consider yourself one of such people, then you don’t need to read any, even the most thorough comparative test between the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback and Skoda Octavia, it will only cause irritation.

The statistical attractiveness of the Japanese hatchback, however, leaves its mark on the pragmatic world of dry numbers: the car is noticeable, that is, more stolen, that is, a comprehensive insurance policy for it costs more than for a Skoda Octavia. Mitsubishi also has more burdensome maintenance costs, but the design, of course, has nothing to do with it - these are just the prices, and the future Lancer owner will have to put up with them.

The cost and equipment of the rivals are very close, but Skoda takes the cake with its variety. And although the range of power units for the Russian market after the restyling of the model was greatly reduced, the list of additional equipment did not become smaller, and you can still find a lot of interesting things there - for example, ESP, which is not available for the Mitsubishi Lancer in Russia in principle. Lancer is sold in fixed configurations, and the hatchback comes with only one 1.8-liter engine (143 hp), paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. We got a version with a CVT, and it would be good to find an Octavia with the latest 1.4-liter supercharged engine (122 hp) and a 7-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches, but such a car at the time of writing There was no Skoda press park, so we had to be content with the version with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, looking ahead, let’s say that we didn’t have to regret it.

In the city

An elegant plastic body kit along the lower perimeter of the body, combined with a low ground clearance, forces the owner of a Lancer Sportback to carefully choose a parking spot so as not to damage the “fashionable dress” on the curb. The abrasions on the body of the test car eloquently indicate that sometimes there is simply nothing to choose from, and you have to park as is, that is, overlapping with the sidewalk with all the ensuing consequences. Poor visibility from the driver’s seat, due to an inconvenient low seating position (more on this in the “Ergonomics and Comfort” section), and the absence of a parking radar do not contribute to an adequate choice.

The traction capabilities of the Mitsubishi power unit are more than enough for city driving: the CVT settings allow instant overtaking at any speed. The suspension perfectly absorbs the micro-relief of the road surface, but rattles on large potholes and tram tracks.

The energy intensity of the Skoda Octavia suspension is an order of magnitude better and allows the driver not to stand on ceremony either with paving stones or with speed bumps. Parking a Czech car is also noticeably easier: high ground clearance makes it possible to drive onto a curb or a small snowdrift without harm to the body. Rearward visibility is mediocre, but the parking radar helps out - an option for 10,990 rubles.

In the figures, the engine of the Czech car is slightly weaker than that of its rival, but in the city this is felt only on steep overpasses, and only if the engine speed drops below 1500 rpm, when the compressor turbine is not operating at full power. An informative clutch and precision gear shifting minimize the driver’s kinematic ordeal in traffic jams, and a comfortable seat with a wide range of settings eliminates back fatigue even after standing in traffic jams for many hours. In a word, city operation brings less trouble to the Octavia owner, so the Czech car wins this round.

In the country

On highways with good asphalt, the Lancer Sportback is superb, and the ride in it is reminiscent of flying in a luxury Gran Turismo coupe - just as smooth, and just as fast. The engine pleases with instant responses to the gas pedal, and the CVT with an unbroken stream of heady acceleration. Paddle shifters made of pure titanium are a rudiment from birth. With their help, you can select seven fixed gears generated by the variator, but this does not provide anything other than unnecessary fuss and violence to the essence of the continuously variable transmission - just another tribute to fashion and a fun little trick for those who like to play racing pilot on public roads.

On bad asphalt (and by spring, say, in Moscow and Moscow Region, almost all the asphalt for some reason inevitably turns out to be bad), driving in the Lancer Sportback becomes quite nervous: the car is not very willing to hold a straight line and shudders with its whole body at joints and potholes. You should forget about the primer immediately and forever - the low protrusions of the elegant aerodynamic body kit of the “Japanese” are not compatible with the Russian country road.

The Skoda Octavia is more tolerant of the uncovered Mother Earth; other crossovers will envy its ground clearance. Skoda is also good on asphalt, and is completely insensitive to its quality and pleases with a good ride and directional stability both on the licked Rublevskoye Highway and on the jagged backyards of Mytishchi near Moscow.

The 1.4-liter supercharged engine, with skillful use of the six gears of the manual transmission, shows excellent agility, allowing you to easily overtake strings of grimy trucks. You can go on a long journey in such a car without fear, but the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback’s travel area is better limited to roads of more or less decent quality.

Controllability

Those who closely follow the Mitsubishi Lancer test battles in the automotive press probably know that the sedan version has caused a lot of criticism from experts regarding handling. The hatchback, according to Mitsubishi representatives, has slightly different chassis settings from the sedan for the better. I have not driven a sedan, but the hatchback seemed to me to be a very obedient car. Some complaints, and even then not every driver can cause anything except the steering that is too light and not sufficiently informative. Combined with excellent sharpness and precision, it makes driving at high speed too nervous, but, let’s say, almost all BMW owners live with such a steering wheel and do not complain. In terms of handling feel, the Lancer Sportback is generally very close to thoroughbred German cars, which probably only benefits its image. But what definitely doesn’t strengthen its reputation is the mysterious, inexplicable absence of ESP in Russian-spec cars. But the brakes are good - they are quite informative and do not require much pedal effort even in emergency modes.

Skoda also has no problems with deceleration, and handling is even better from a safety point of view. Firstly, ESP can be ordered for any configuration, and secondly, the VW Golf chassis on which the Octavia is built is rightly considered the standard for the handling of a front-wheel drive car. The heavy steering wheel provides excellent information content, the reactions are so accurate and predictable that the gambling driver behind the wheel of an Octavia becomes bored - everything is too good and correct. The Lancer Sportback is more interesting, although more nervous, and we would gladly give our rivals equally high marks for handling, if not for the lack of a stabilization system in the Japanese car. GZR's position on this issue remains unchanged: the buyer of a modern car should at least have the opportunity to order ESP, which can save his life in an extreme situation, so the Mitsubishi Lancer lost again.

Ergonomics and comfort

At the Mitsubishi representative office they told me about a strange feature of all of its models: none of the steering columns are adjustable for reach. I haven't driven all Mitsubishi models, but with regard to the Lancer, I can say with confidence that this ridiculous flaw seriously complicates the driver's life: three people from our newspaper's test department were unable to find a comfortable driving position. True, all three are proponents of correct, academic seating, which requires the back of the chair to be almost vertical. It is impossible to sit like this in the Lancer due to the lack of adjustment of the steering column for reach and the narrow range of seat settings - after an hour of driving, the lower back begins to ache and the knees become numb. But lovers of sofa drive, when the chair cushion lies almost on the ground, the backrest is tilted back, and the top of the steering wheel is at forehead height, will be pleased. It’s just a pity that Mitsubishi developers encourage such an unsafe (poor visibility, increased risk of diving under the seat belt in a collision) driving position.

The requirements for seating in the rear seat are less stringent; what is primarily important here is the amount of space in all directions, and the Lancer Sportback has it - on long trips, two people here will not languish from cramped conditions, but it is better to leave the third at home. The noise level at high speed is moderate; the acoustic picture is dominated by aerodynamic noise and the creaking of interior parts when hitting potholes and debris lying on the road.

The Skoda Octavia is a little quieter, but not due to better aerodynamics, but due to better interior assembly. Despite the smaller wheelbase, the amount of legroom for passengers in the rear seat of the Czech car is even greater than that of its rival. A driver, especially one who has moved to an Octavia from a Lancer, rides like a cheese in butter: the range of adjustments for the steering wheel and seats is enormous - you can choose a comfortable seating position in a matter of moments, and the seat itself, with its developed lateral support, better distributes the load on the body.

It is gratifying that both Lancer and Octavia are equipped with audio systems of sufficient quality for this class of cars with quite decent sound and a good volume reserve. But in terms of overall impressions of the quality of life on board, Skoda again takes the lead. It has exemplary ergonomics on its side, while the Lancer literally fetters the driver's hands and feet.

Practicality

The strength of hatchbacks has always been considered to be better cargo transportation capabilities compared to sedans. However, if a hatchback has a deliberately sporty accent, as is the case with the Lancer Sportback, then few people are seriously interested in its talent to transform into a grocery shopping bag. Therefore, it is not at all surprising that the trunk of the Sportback version is not very large by class standards, with a volume of only 288 VDA-liters. Its shape, however, is close to ideal and has no protrusions that interfere with loading things. By folding the back of the rear seat in whole or in part, the usable area can be significantly increased, and this is done, as they say, with one touch - the corresponding handles are located at the edge of the tailgate.

Folding the back seat of the Skoda is not so convenient: you have to open the rear doors to release the latches in the upper part of the backrest. But the trunk itself in the Octavia is almost twice as large - 560 VDA-liters. There are also more places for small things in the Skoda's cabin, which together gives the Czech a slight advantage over its rival in terms of practicality.

Results

So what? TKO? Destruction? Is Skoda better than Mitsubishi?

If you choose between these hatchbacks with your mind and not your heart, then, of course, the Octavia is better, in all respects.

How so? And why?

But because I love beautiful things. And also because a car is not a necessity for me. I don’t drive a car every day, I like to walk a lot, so some of the Mitsubishi’s shortcomings, which are so annoying in everyday use, don’t bother me much. I'm not going to drive it every day. Not on it, not on any other car. Therefore, I can forgive a lot if I really like the car. Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback is just one of those.
