Adding oil to the Getz 1.1 engine. How to change the oil in a Hyundai Getz engine yourself? Replacement frequency, what oil to fill

The manufacturer recommends changing the oil in the Hyundai Getz engine every 15,000 km (or once a year) under normal conditions, and every 7,500 km (or once every 6 months) in severe operating conditions. Difficult conditions include: traffic jams, dust, crappy roads, bad gasoline, etc.

What you need to change the oil:

    engine oil and oil filter;

    a clean rag, a container for used oil (5 liters);

    wrench “17” and oil filter puller.

Instructions for changing the oil in the Hyundai Getz engine

Warm up the engine to operating temperature and place the car on a pit, lift, overpass, or jack up the front part and install supports.

Wipe the drain hole on the engine crankcase and unscrew the drain bolt with a 17mm wrench. Not forgetting that oil is hot.

Drain the oil into a previously placed container.

There is an aluminum washer on the drain bolt, which often needs to be replaced.

Oil filter puller. If this is not the case, you can make do with the old filter by barbarically punching it with a screwdriver. The latter is used as a lever that unscrews the oil filter.

The Hyundai Getz oil filter is located in the front part of the cylinder block, on the oil pump housing. Loosen the oil filter using a puller.

And remove the oil filter.

There may be an o-ring from the old filter left on the oil pump housing; you need to remove it.

Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with oil (if it is not lubricated from the factory). Then tighten the filter by hand until the O-ring comes into contact with the cylinder block. After this, tighten the oil filter no more than 3/4 turn.

Unscrew the oil filler cap and pour new oil into the engine. After closing the lid back, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. While the engine is running, check for leaks on the drain hole and oil filter. Then check the oil level on the dipstick and add, if necessary, to the upper mark.

Any car needs maintenance. The Hyundai Accent is no exception. It is necessary to change the engine oil in the engine, according to the regulations, every 12-15 thousand km. Of course, you can contact a car service center, but you can carry out a shift with your own hands in half an hour.

The video will tell you how to properly change the oil on a car, and also tell you about some of the nuances of the procedure.

Replacement process

Changing the Hyundai Accent oil is quite easy to do yourself. For the process to be successful, it is necessary to have minimal tools, as well as access to the vehicle from below.

When everything you need has been collected, you can proceed directly to the process itself:

  1. First, you need to let the car cool down.

    Remove the top engine cover. Unscrew the fastenings of the lower protection. Unscrew the engine protection bolts.

  2. Open the hood.
  3. Open the access cover to the drain neck.

    We find the oil filter plug.

  4. Unscrew it and engine oil will flow out.

    Unscrew the engine oil drain plug.

  5. When the oil is drained, tighten the drain plug. To avoid leaks, it is necessary to replace the O-ring.

    Drain the engine oil.

  6. Before adding oil, we replace the oil filter element.

    Find the oil filter housing. Unscrew the oil filter housing.

  7. Let's move on to the engine compartment. To fill engine oil, you need to unscrew the filler plug.

After filling the engine oil, after 5-10 km, you need to check the level. If necessary, add liquid.

Oil selection

Conclusion

Changing the filter and oil on a Hyundai Getz is quite easy on your own. To do this, you need minimal tools, as well as minor constructive skills. As for choosing a filter, you should take it seriously, since this will determine how long it will last.

Engine oil must be replaced every 10,000 km.
For a new car, it is necessary to change the oil after the break-in period (after 2500 km). When changing the oil, you must install a new oil filter (ZMZ-4062 engine) or its filter element (all engines). Oil change procedure see subsections 2.3.2, 2.3.2.2 And 2.3.3.3 .

Into the engine crankcase It is recommended to fill in the same brand of oil as was in the engine. If you fill in oil of a different brand, you must first flush the engine lubrication system with oil of the same brand that will be poured into the engine. To do this, drain the old oil and fill in new oil 2–4 mm above the “0” mark on the oil level indicator (dipstick). Start the engine and let it idle for about 10 minutes. Then drain the oil, replace the oil filter or its filter element and add fresh oil.

Coolant must be changed once every 2 years or after 60,000 km (whichever comes first). Procedure for replacing coolant see subsection 2.4.4. It should be borne in mind that the coolant is poisonous, so you should not suck it into your mouth when pouring it. When working with coolant, it is recommended to use safety glasses and not to smoke or eat. If the liquid gets on exposed skin, wash it with soap and water.

Gearbox oil must be replaced after 60,000 km. Oil change procedure see subsections 3.3.2 And 3.4.2 . Every 20,000 km, you need to check the oil level in the gearbox and top up if necessary. The oil level in the crankcase should reach the edge of the filler hole. If the drained oil contains metal particles or is very dirty, the box should be washed. To do this, pour 0.9 liters of fresh oil into its crankcase. Raise the rear of the car with a jack. Start the engine and, engaging first gear, let it run for 2-3 minutes. Then drain the oil and refill with fresh oil. When checking the oil level, you need to clean the surface of the breather from dirt and turn its cap several times to remove any dirt trapped under it.

Oil in the rear axle housing must be changed after 60,000 km. The oil is changed in the same way as in a gearbox. After 20,000 km, you need to check the oil level in the crankcase and top up if necessary. The oil level should reach the edge of the filler hole. When checking the oil level, you need to clean the breather from dirt in the same way as you did for the gearbox.

Warning

Do not reuse drained brake fluid.

Brake fluid In clutch and brake drives, they must be changed once every 2 years, regardless of the vehicle’s mileage. Clutch and brake drives use domestically produced brake fluids “Rosa”, “Rosa-3”, “Tom”, “Neva” or their foreign analogues on a non-petroleum basis, the quality level of which is not lower than DOT-3. Use other brands of fluids, especially petroleum-based fluids, prohibited.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, so it should not be stored in open containers.

The procedure for replacing brake fluid is as follows:

1. Remove the brake master cylinder reservoir cap.

2. Remove the rubber protective caps from the air release valves on the wheel cylinders and place rubber hoses on the valves, the ends of which are lowered into glass containers.

3. Unscrew the valves no more than one turn and, pressing the brake pedal all the way, drain the fluid. As soon as liquid stops flowing out of the hoses, tighten the air release valves.

4. Pour the drained brake fluid out of the vessels and put them in place.

5. Pour fresh fluid into the master cylinder reservoir, unscrew all air release valves one turn and, pressing the brake pedal all the way, fill the brake system. In this case, you need to constantly add fluid to the master cylinder reservoir. After clean brake fluid begins to flow out of the hoses placed on the air release valves, tighten the valves.

6. Bleed the brake system to remove air from it ( see subsection 6.9).

7. Close the brake master cylinder reservoir with a plug. Remove the hoses from the air release valves and put protective caps on them.

The fluid in the clutch hydraulic drive is replaced in the same way.

The first version of the Hyundai Getz developed in 2002 in a hatchback body. The car had other names, for example, in Venezuela it was called Dodge Brisa, in Korea - Hyundai Click and in Malaysia - Inokom Getz. Factories producing the series were located in India, Korea, Egypt, Venezuela and Malaysia.

Buyers were given a choice between petrol 1.1, 1.3 and 1.6-horsepower engines. A 1.5 liter diesel engine was also available. The transmission was available with a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic.

In 2005, Hyundai Getz was waiting for a restyling that affected not only the appearance but also the engines. Thus, the 1.1 and 1.6 engines gained a few horses, and the 1.3 engine was replaced with a 1.4 liter. The upgrade also affected the diesel engine, where instead of the previous three-cylinder engine, a four-cylinder engine with the same displacement of 1.5 liters was installed.

Production of the Hyundai Getz line was discontinued in 2010.

Engine oil

“Any big thing can be done if you divide it into many small things” - Henry Ford.

And in truth, if you prepare tools and consumables in advance, the work will seem like a small task that you can handle even alone.

When to change (interval)

For a Hyundai Getz car, an oil change should be done every 15,000 km (or 1 year). Under severe operating conditions, this value can be halved. The oil filter should also be changed along with it.

Severe operating conditions include:

  • Bad road;
  • Dustiness;
  • Bad fuel;
  • Heavy traffic, traffic jams.

Preparing the tool

  • Key 17. Needed to remove the drain plug.
  • New oil and filter.
  • Lots of clean rags.
  • Container for draining waste. A basin with a capacity of at least 5 liters is ideal.

How to change

Oil filter

An important component in the lubrication system of any car. Motor oil lubricates rubbing parts, and the oil filter retains metal debris (crumbs, sawdust, dust, sand and other debris) and in this way cleans this oil.

When should you change the filter?

Each filter must be replaced along with changing the engine oil. They must be considered one mechanism and must also be serviced together. Recommendation for replacement every 10-15 thousand km or once a year.

Power steering (power steering)

Power steering helps you turn the steering wheel along with the wheels, while you spend several times less force than a car without a power steering system.

There are marks on the power steering expansion tank by which you can understand whether the fluid level is currently high or, conversely, low and needs to be added. A quick inspection of the power steering system can solve many problems along the way, so look under the hood once a month.

What should you pay attention to?

  • Monitoring the power steering fluid (oil) level and its color in the expansion tank;
  • Checking the drive belt for the power steering pump;
  • General condition of hoses (inspection for cracks, abrasions and chips);
  • Hose connection points.

How to change

Changing the power steering fluid (oil) can be done in several ways, including partially changing the fluid and completely changing it. The first method is faster and easier, the second is better.

Partial replacement

Partial replacement of power steering fluid involves pumping fluid out of the power steering expansion tank using a large syringe or bulb. After the tank is completely empty, fill in fresh fluid to the maximum mark. Start the car and turn the steering wheel left/right. After a few minutes, turn off the engine and check the color of the power steering fluid. If it is too dark, repeat the procedure until the desired result.

Complete replacement

To replace the power steering fluid, remove the air duct and the reservoir with power steering fluid. Pour the old liquid from the barrel into another container. When draining, pay attention to the condition of the old oil and the presence of foreign metal particles. If they are noticeable, this may indicate wear on the pump. To completely drain the power steering, you can rotate the steering wheel left and right.

Oil pressure sensor

If the oil pressure sensor lights up on a Volkswagen Polo, then a fascinating set of checks of the engine and individual components awaits you. What could cause the sensor to light up?

  • Low level of oil pressure in the engine. The simplest option is to check the dipstick, if you add too little to the required level.
  • Oil too old. Look at the color of the oil, rub it with your fingers (you should feel oily). If the oil is too old, it is better to change it to a new one.
  • Oil pump malfunction.
  • The oil pressure sensor has failed. If you checked the previous steps and nothing helped, check the sensor itself. A visual inspection will help determine the external condition of the device. If necessary, replace with a new one. It happens that the sensor is covered in oil, this may indicate that the leak is coming through the sensor. Of course, such a part must be replaced immediately.

How to replace

Replacing the sensor does not require much effort. At the rear of the cylinder block (where the unit number is indicated), press the wire lock and remove the terminal. The sensor itself is unscrewed with a key x 22. When installing a new sensor, make sure that there is a sealing washer.

How much to fill (filling volumes)

  • The oil volume in the engine lubrication system is 3 liters for a 1.1 liter engine, for 1.3/1.5.16 you will need 3.3 liters.
  • The cooling system for the 1.1/1.3/1.5/1.6 engine will require 6/6.2/6.5/6.5 liters of coolant.
  • The manual transmission contains (for the above engines) 2.15/2.5/2.5/2.5 liters.
  • The automatic transmission holds 6.1 liters of transmission oil.
  • The standard power steering system is 0.9 l.

The oil volume in the Hyundai Getz engine must be regularly monitored. To some extent, this can be attributed to one of the elementary procedures for servicing a car on your own. In addition, this includes the process of changing the oil and choosing the consumables themselves. In the latter case, the driver is required to have a minimum set of theoretical knowledge. For example, you need to know compatible viscosity and tolerance parameters, oil change intervals, the best brands and, finally, how much oil should be poured into the engine of a popular car.

Replacement frequency

Engine oil in the case of the Hyundai Getz, according to official data, is replaced every 15 thousand kilometers. This regulation can be adjusted downward due to negative phenomena. So, let’s highlight the main ones:

  • High speed operation
  • Failure to comply with traffic speed limits, sudden maneuvers
  • Driving on bad, dusty roads, in off-road conditions (sloppy soil, mud, sand, etc.)
  • Operation in regions with frequent temperature changes (variable climate)
  • Operation in other conditions for which the Hyundai Getz is not suitable.

Any of the above factors can cause the oil to quickly lose its beneficial properties. In this regard, more frequent oil changes will be required - for example, after 7 thousand kilometers. In such conditions, the rule “the more often you change the oil, the better it will be for engine reliability” is relevant. However, this applies to any transport. To prevent rapid wear of engine components, it is important to regularly check the volume and condition of the oil.

Checking volume and condition

To check the volume of consumables, you will need an oil dipstick. It is located in the oil filler neck. It has Min and Max marks on it. If the oil print is between them, then this can be considered the optimal level. Any deviation from the norm (for example, underfilling or overfilling) negatively affects the efficiency and reliability of the power unit. So, if the level is insufficient, add a little liquid. But this may not be enough if the situation is complicated by the following signs - the oil has acquired a dark brown color, contains dirt deposits, and emits a specific burnt smell. In such a situation, you urgently need to clean the engine of old oil, and only then pour in new fluid.

How much to fill

In the Russian market, Hyundai Getz is well known with gasoline engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters. They require almost the same volume of oil, equal to 3.3 liters. The full volume can be poured in after the engine has been thoroughly cleaned of old fluid. Partial replacement carried out at home, unfortunately, does not provide for such a procedure. And yet, you can completely clean the engine with your own hands - to do this you will have to change the oil several times every 600 kilometers. Continue until a clear liquid begins to flow out of the engine instead of the old black oil - this will mean that the cleaning is completed and new oil can be introduced in full.

Choosing oil for Hyundai Getz

The manufacturer recommends filling only with original lubricant produced by the Hyundai-Kia concern. It has viscosity characteristics of 5W-30, as well as ACEA A3 tolerance parameters. The oil has been assigned a proprietary specification 05100-00441, which can be used to distinguish the original from the fake.

When choosing an analogue oil, you should be guided by the above parameters. So, you can choose the perfect product, regardless of the brand. By the way, among the most famous companies with a recognized reputation we will name Lukoil, Rosneft, Mobile, Castrol, Kixx, Elf, Shell and others.
