Technical characteristics of Renault Coleos. Technical characteristics of Renault Koleos (Renault Koleos) Greeted by clothes

The appearance of the restyled koleos causes a lot of controversy: some people don’t like it, and there are those who think differently. It’s worth taking a look at the characteristics of the Renault Coleos, because this is one of the main questions before buying. The crossover is presented with two engines: 2.0 dCi with a power of 150 (4000 rpm) and 2.5 CVT/MT, 171 hp. (6000 rpm). The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed. Automatic transmission, petrol – with CVT or “mechanics”. There are very few technical changes with the pre-restyling version.

These are quite optimal technical characteristics for koleos, both for a large city. The ground clearance of the diesel engine is 188 mm, and that of the gasoline engine is 206 mm, which allows you to feel more confident when parking, if there is no space, or outside the asphalt. The front suspension is McPherson, the rear is independent multi-link. All brakes are ventilated discs. Wheels are installed on both versions at 17.

The maximum speed for the diesel version is 180 km/h; the maximum speed for the gasoline version is 188 km/h. The cars accelerate to “hundreds” in 12.3 and 10.3 seconds. respectively.

In 2008, a new crossover was introduced to the European market, which was tested in North Africa, this is Koleos. In fact, this is Renault’s second attempt to create an all-wheel drive car (the first attempt was, which was created ten years ago and around the same time it fell into oblivion due to low demand), but now the French did something different - they did not create a “modified compact van” , but developed a new design.

The result is the Renault Koleos crossover, the main task of which is to directly compete with such “fashionable SUVs” as the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 and, to some extent, even compete with the Nissan Qashqai and VW Tiguan crossovers.

The appearance of the Koleos can be called quite harmonious, where everything: profile, high ground clearance and wide wheel arches clearly indicate its good off-road qualities. And the beveled rear window emphasizes its dynamism (at least that’s what Renault’s chief designer thinks). But its front part is very reminiscent of the Clio, but this time the exterior design completely lacks avant-garde and controversial elements (which distinguished models of previous generations).

Inside the Renault Koleos, everything is “spartan” and simple, which emphasizes the off-road essence of the car. Its creators are confident that they managed to achieve the best (among competitors) forward visibility: 31° vertical and 36.3° horizontal, rear visibility also deserves praise - 27.5° (not a record, of course, but a very worthy result). In addition, this model can boast of an outstanding cabin height of 946 mm (i.e., the rear passengers in the Koleos do not experience any discomfort - there is plenty of space above the head and in the shoulders.

To highlight the off-road qualities and character of this car, the first test drive was carried out by the manufacturer in North Africa (Morocco). Naturally, these places are not famous for ideal roads and allowed us to test the crossover like an adult.

In Africa, by the way, if anyone doesn’t know, it’s quite hot – and an overheated interior is not the best condition for the driver. But for Renault Koleos this is not a problem - we start the engine and turn on the dual-zone climate control (with separate air ducts for rear passengers). In addition, sunblinds in the rear doors help protect passengers from the heat.

When driving around the city, this car is practically no different from a regular minivan, but Renault Koleos has good dynamics - its 2.5-liter gasoline engine can accelerate the crossover to 100 km/h in just 9.3 seconds. (note that at the start it requires increased speed). Moreover, the crossover has a very rigid grip. Without having the habit of driving, the engine stalls all the time, but after an hour or two you already get used to this feature. As for the maximum speed (which, unfortunately, was not achieved during the test), then according to the passport it is equal to 185 km/h.

By the way, a team of Japanese-French-Korean engineers paid special attention to the soundproofing of the cabin. There is almost complete silence in the cabin of this car, which is not disturbed either on asphalt or off-road. The main merit in this is the multi-layer windshield, a special engine subframe and the use of effective soundproofing materials on the engine shield, in the wheel arches and under the interior floor.

Off-road - and these are quite steep mountains, where there are paths instead of roads, and sharp stones crunch insidiously under the wheels - Renault Koleos is also at its best. In this situation, the all-wheel drive system (partially borrowed from the Nissan X-Trail) comes into play. An inexperienced driver will be helped in overcoming obstacles by numerous auxiliary systems (All modeI, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control), which will help both drive up the hill and go back down “without incident.” Also, the “off-road ambitions” of this car are confirmed by the 206 mm ground clearance. You should also pay attention to the approach and departure angles (27° and 31°, respectively).
In short, theoretically, Koleos was ready for African off-road... and it confirmed its readiness in practice.

When creating this SUV, engineers from Renault and Nissan tried to “cross an SUV, a minivan and a sedan.” This time the “hybrid” turned out to be very successful. And, unlike many competitors, the Renault Koleos crossover is endowed with a brutal appearance (which many will like).
The Spartan interior is in perfect harmony with the exterior and adds charm to it. It is obvious that Renault managed to offer the market something special and original - which, in any case, deserves at least attention... and, in our opinion, praise.

We can speak briefly but succinctly about the safety of Koleos: 9 models created by Nissan-Renault engineers received 5 stars in EuroNCAP crash tests, Renault Koleos claims the same result.

Brief technical specifications:

  • Dimensions – 4520 x 1855 x 1695 mm
  • Engine – petrol
    • engine capacity – 2488 cm3
    • engine power – 170 hp/min-1
  • Transmission – 6-speed manual or CVT transmission (variator)

    • acceleration to 100 km/h – 9.3

Prices: In 2008, the basic package (Expression) is offered at a price of 869 thousand rubles. In the Luxe Privilege configuration, this crossover costs 1 million 74 thousand rubles. If you ask the dealer to “pack” the maximum configuration “in full”, then its cost will be about ~1 million 130 thousand rubles.

Renault Koleos is a representative of the flagship crossover segment from the famous French manufacturer. For nearly eight years, Koleos has been pleasing its owners with its unpretentiousness, excellent handling and high-quality finishing materials. Today we will take a closer look at the Renault Koleos from all sides and find out whether it is as good as they say it is.

Greeted by clothes

When the first generation Renault Koleos was created, it became clear that the model with high ground clearance and all-wheel drive would include all the latest developments of the concern and the most modern technologies that were able to be integrated into mass-produced cars. This is easily explained by the fact that this machine has the highest price and is positioned by the manufacturer as a flagship.

Looking at the first photo, you don’t immediately understand what we’re talking about. But remembering that back in 2008, in addition to Renault Koleos, such nondescript cars as Logan or Kangu rolled off the assembly line, it immediately becomes clear that this all-wheel drive is the best that the concern has managed to create in the entire history of its existence.

In the Koleos photo, the optics especially stand out. It is she who is the face of Renault Koleos and allows you to get a complete understanding of the concept of its design. It is not angular, but at the same time not perfectly round, it has a complex shape.

Moreover, as you can clearly see from the photo, the headlights are equipped with a washer system, which is a standard option for flagships.

What stands out in the photo is the radiator grille, which has an off-road design and, coupled with a solid ground clearance, fits perfectly into the exterior design. This is confirmed by the rear optics, which on Renault Koleos are made in the form of elongated round lamps of complex shape. They smoothly flow into the trunk lid, which has a rear window that is not very large, but sufficient for viewing.

The second photo shows the ergonomics of the Renault Koleos interior. Apparently, the car does not have the largest luggage compartment volume.

In return, the passenger area is spacious enough to accommodate even a long trip.

Of particular interest is the central console of the Renault Koleos, which includes controls for the climate control and multimedia system. All information will be displayed on the color display, which is highlighted in the third photo.

Dry numbers

The characteristics of Renault Koleos are of particular interest to those who encounter this car for the first time and decide to get to know it better. First of all, looking at such a compact car, I want to know about its dimensions.

The dimensions, however, turn out to be not as small as it seems at first glance. Judging by the technical specifications table, the body length is 4521 mm. At the same time, the width reaches 1854 mm, and the height - 1709. The weight of the machine varies from 1595 to 1759 kg.

Thanks to these body dimensions, it was possible to achieve a trunk that is not very large, but sufficient for comfortable travel; its volume reaches 450 liters. However, by folding the back of the rear sofa, you can increase this figure to 1380 liters.

Solid dimensions require considerable ground clearance or ground clearance, which will allow the car to feel comfortable off-road. According to official data, this characteristic is the same for all trim levels, and on all versions the clearance is 206 mm.

In addition to considerable clearance, the dynamic characteristics of Renault Koleos deserve attention. Thus, the car can be equipped with a 2.5 petrol engine or a two-liter diesel engine of varying degrees of boost.

The gasoline unit has a power of 171 hp, accelerating a crossover weighing two tons to 180 km/h. Acceleration to hundreds here will be about 10 seconds. Fuel consumption is not encouraging, the engine without turbocharging has a considerable appetite. So, in suburban mode, the crossover will not require more than 8 liters, but when traveling around the city the figure easily reaches 12.

Much more pleasing is the turbodiesel, which, among other technical characteristics, has phenomenal efficiency and good torque. The derated version has 150 horsepower under the hood. At the same time, the maximum speed of Renault Koleos is 183 km/h, and acceleration to hundreds is achieved in exactly 10 seconds. Fuel consumption in the extra-urban cycle is about 5 liters, and in the city - no more than 7.

A more powerful version with the same volume has a power of 175 horsepower and better technical indicators. At the same time, the maximum speed and acceleration time remain practically unchanged. Fuel consumption here is no less pleasing; in the suburban cycle the car will require 5.7 liters of diesel fuel, and in the city - no more than 8.

Summary

Renault Koleos turned out to be a crossover with good technical characteristics: ground clearance, well-chosen body dimensions and a spacious trunk paired with powerful and reliable engines. They make the car a real winner. If the manufacturer maintains this level, it will very soon become a leader in the European market, and will also win the hearts of many lovers of high ground clearance and excellent comfort.

The second generation Renault Koleos crossover is based on the CMF-D platform, borrowed from. The “trolley” design implies a completely independent suspension scheme with front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link. The external dimensions of the Renault Koleos 2 body are as follows: length – 4672 mm, width – 1843 mm, height – 1673 mm. The wheelbase is 2705 mm, the ground clearance for gasoline versions is 210 mm, for diesel versions it is 208 mm.

The range of power units available for Koleos includes engines of the same. In Russia, three out of four engines are offered:

  • Petrol “four” 2.0 liter 144 hp. (200 Nm);
  • Gasoline unit 2.5 liters 171 hp. (233 Nm);
  • Turbodiesel 2.0 liter 177 hp (380 Nm).

Only modifications with Jatco's X-Tronic variator and All Mode 4×4-i all-wheel drive are available on the Russian market. In general, the model can be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and come in a front-wheel drive version. As for the 4WD drive, it is based on an electromagnetic clutch installed in front of the rear differential. There are only three driving modes: 2WD, Auto and Lock. In the latter case, the clutch is locked forcibly, and the thrust is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 50:50. The lock is effective at speeds up to 40 km/h.

The average fuel consumption of Renault Koleos with a 2.0 petrol engine is 7.5 l/100 km, with a 2.5 engine – 8.3 liters. The diesel version of the crossover consumes about 5.8 liters of diesel fuel in the combined cycle.

The models closest to Renault Koleos in terms of technical parameters are Nissan X-Trail, and.

The Renault Koleos crossover appeared in the French manufacturer's lineup in 2008, and during the first three years of its life, only 125,000 SUVs were sold. At the Frankfurt Motor Show in the fall of 2011, Renault presented the restyled Koleos, the main goal of which was to increase sales in such a saturated and at the same time promising segment of family cars for active recreation. In our review, we will try to find all the good things that were originally included in the crossover during development. In fact, the Renault Koleos 2012-2013 has enough advantages, and we will tell you about them, starting with the exterior design, which is unusual for representatives of the crossover class, a high-quality and functional interior, excellent geometric cross-country ability of the body, and ending with the technical stuffing used, which is popular in Russia and acceptable at a price.
Of course, we will not forget to indicate the full technical characteristics of the Renault Koleos 2013, overall dimensions of the body, tires and wheels available for installation, proposed color options, possible configuration variations and their contents. We will arrange a test drive on asphalt and light off-road conditions. Feedback from owners will help us find out the actual fuel consumption and possible problems during operation, and photo and video materials will help us evaluate the exterior and interior.

When you see Renault Koleos for the first time, you can’t even imagine that the car is capable of conquering quite serious off-road conditions. We are accustomed to the fact that a crossover should look with a certain touch of brutality and aggression, while the exterior of Koleos, on the contrary, has soft lines, rounded shapes and, to put it mildly, no zest in appearance. It seems that everything is in its place, in front - large blocks of headlights, a stylish radiator grille with three horizontal chrome slats, a sculpted front bumper with a protective ski ala aluminum and fog lamp eyes.

From the side, the French crossover looks light and airy - a high window sill, a sporty roof sloping towards the stern with a powerful rear pillar, puffed surfaces of the doors and wings, stamped profiles of the wheel arches.

The rear of the body is also attractive with its large and beautiful segments of side lamps, a correct and large tailgate, and a neatly trimmed and compact bumper.

Individually, the front, sides and rear are bright and original, but for some reason they don’t add up to the overall composition. The answer is simple, we are also accustomed to the aggressiveness and pressure of crossovers, so we are trying to compare everything with the same Nissan X-Trail. Remember what the new controversial design looks like and you will understand that Koleos is not without bright charm and personality.

  • Dimensional dimensions The body of the Renault Koleos crossover is: 4520 mm long, 1855 mm (2120 mm with folded mirrors) wide, 1710 mm high, 2690 mm wheelbase.
  • The geometric indicators of the body's cross-country ability are serious for an SUV: approach angle - 27 degrees, ramp angle - 21 degrees, departure angle - 31 degrees, ground clearance ( clearance) - 206 mm for versions with a gasoline engine and 188 mm for a diesel engine.
  • The crossover rests on the ground with four tires 225/60 R17 on size 17 alloy wheels; as an option for 15,000 rubles it is possible to install 225/55 R18 tires on large 18-inch light alloy wheels.
  • A wide palette is offered for body painting colors enamels: basic - white matte, for white metallic, silver, ash beige, dark gray, red, orange and black an additional payment of 15,000 rubles is required.

The Renault Koleos interior makes a pleasant impression thanks to high-quality finishing materials, which are also tactilely pleasant (soft plastics, fabric and leather). And how stylish the carbon fiber inserts on the center console look. The front seats with unobtrusive lateral support and heating provide a comfortable and comfortable fit. The maximum configuration Luxe Privilege has an electric driver's seat settings. The range of adjustments for the first row seats will allow the driver and passenger over 190 cm in height to easily fit.

The plump rim of the steering wheel fits nicely in your hands, the steering column is adjustable in height and depth, informative instruments with white backlighting and on-board computers that provide information in Russian. The powerful body of the front instrument panel with stylish round ventilation deflectors seems to hang over the compact center console, overloaded with control units for the air conditioning system and audio system (radio CD-MP3 Bluetooth 6 speakers).

The engine start button is located inconveniently, as is the All Mode 4x4-i transmission mode control key (low on the console, and the gearbox lever makes it difficult to access them). The electromechanical handbrake holds the car perfectly on a slope and is capable of independently unlocking the wheels when starting to move. Despite the annoying mistakes in ergonomics, the Renault Koleos driver will quickly get used to the controls; in fact, everything is simple and clear.

In the second row, three passengers are not as far apart as in the front seats. The amount of space available is minimal over the head, across the width of the cabin and for the knees. It’s better to sit together, the tunnel on the floor is barely noticeable, the split backrest can change the angle of inclination, there are tables in the backs of the front seats, an armrest with cup holders, and sun blinds.
Throughout the cabin there are a lot of containers for storing small items: containers with lids in the armrests of the front doors, pockets in the door cards with containers for bottles, secret drawers under the feet of rear passengers and a simply bottomless glove box.

Trunk French crossover with modest dimensions, with passengers in the rear seat, the cargo capacity of Renault Koleos is limited to 450 liters. Folding the back row we get a flat cargo area and a volume of 1380 liters. Transformation of the rear seats is easy and relaxed, especially if you order the Easy Break system.

To transport cargo up to 2600 mm in length, it is possible to lower the backrest of the front passenger seat forward. The rear door consists of two parts, the upper half opens with glass, the lower half is in the form of a side that can withstand a load of 200 kg.

Renault Koleos 2013 in Russia is offered in five trim levels: Expression, Dynamique, Dynamique Confort, Bose and Luxe Privilege. We will not describe in detail the contents of the versions, we will only say that even the initial configuration is quite packed, but the maximum one is simply gorgeous: leather interior, panoramic electric roof, premium Bose audio system, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, bi-xenon headlights, color screen of the multimedia complex . But for the Carminat TomTom navigator you will have to pay an additional 20,000 rubles.
While the exterior may raise questions among potential owners, the interior is worthy of praise - functional, high-quality, cozy and even aristocratic.

Technical characteristics of Renault Koleos 2013

The platform, QR25DE gasoline engine, 6 manual transmissions, CVT and 6 automatic transmissions, All-Mode 4×4i all-wheel drive system went to the French crossover from its Japanese brother in the Renault-Nissan alliance Nissan X-Trail. The M9R four-cylinder diesel engine is the fruit of the joint work of the alliance's motorists. For the Russian market, the 2013 Renault Koleos is offered with two four-cylinder engines.
A 2.5-liter gasoline engine (170 hp) paired with a 6-speed manual transmission (CVT) accelerates a crossover weighing 1622 (1655) kg to the first hundred in 10.4 (10.3) seconds, with a top speed of 182 (185) mph. Fuel consumption in mixed mode, it is declared by the manufacturer at the level of 9.9 (9.6) liters.
Diesel Renault Koleos 2.0-liter dCi (150 hp) in tandem with an automatic transmission and 6 automatic transmissions will provide acceleration to 100 mph in 12.3 seconds and a top speed of 181 mph.

Diesel fuel consumption according to the passport in the combined cycle is about 8 liters.
An analysis of owner reviews reveals that the gasoline engine is not very economical and requires from 9-10 liters on the highway to 15-16 liters in city mode. The diesel engine is not so voracious and consumes about 9-10 liters on average.
The suspension is independent with McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear, but unlike the Japanese donor, due to the use of other elastic elements and shock absorbers, not only the chassis of the French SUV is more comfortable and softer, but even the free travel of the suspension is greater, which ensures higher energy consumption.

Test Drive Renault Koleos 2012-2013: on hard-surfaced roads (the quality of this surface does not matter) the chassis is capable of digesting even huge potholes), the crossover demonstrates stable and predictable behavior in all driving modes. At low speeds you can enjoy silence, sharp steering, stability in a straight line and in corners. At high speeds (over 120 mph), the information content on the steering wheel is insufficient, the car rolls heavily in turns (disadvantages of suspension with large strokes), but it holds a straight line perfectly. The response of the gasoline engine to opening the throttle is immediate; with aggressive driving (especially in the city), fuel consumption can soar to 18 liters.
Renault Koleos is not capable of outright off-roading, but, so to speak, a car with an advanced All-Mode 4×4i all-wheel drive system, excellent cross-country ability and huge suspension travel can easily cope with the average severity of Russian off-road. What can we say about how suitable the French crossover is for Russian winters with our constantly snowy and icy roads.
In such a short review, we truly fell in love with the Renault Koleos, and having learned its price in the showrooms of official dealers, the feeling only intensified.

What is the price: the price in Russia for Renault Koleos in 2013 starts from 999,000 rubles for a car with a gasoline engine and 6 manual transmissions in the initial and far from poor Expression configuration. You can buy a Renault Koleos diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission in the Dynamique Confort version at official dealer showrooms for 1,227 thousand rubles. The cost of the maximum configuration of Renault Koleos Luxe Privilege with rich equipment is 1,282 thousand rubles.
Of course, it is better to entrust the maintenance and repair of the French crossover to specialists from certified Renault stations. Structurally, the car is complex, but also reliable, because the main technical component is Japanese. Renault Koleos offers a wide selection of accessories (as well as spare parts), which, in addition to car dealerships, can be purchased in online stores (where the price is significantly lower).
