Which is better Opel Astra or Chevrolet Cruze. Hit parade: comparative test of Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus and Opel Astra Transmission and engine

Well, after a long time I decided to unsubscribe. Background: I thought about the throttle assembly, then about the sensors, the problem turned out to be the ignition module, in the process the flywheel crown was destroyed, the gearbox housing in the starter area was accidentally broken And so =) I didn’t dare to write for a long time because nothing is more depressing than a broken car . Of course, I’m not the first person to whom something like this could happen at the most inopportune moment. But in my case, it was an option to change my position at work and life forced things! Now I'm waiting for a child and a wedding day, on which you can congratulate me.

So there won’t be money for repairs soon, it’s all for preparation and a loan for the car! Due to the hopelessness of the situation, a hole was dug. Of course, it is not finished, but at full height (170) you can stand, with your head slightly bent, under the car. The car was pulled away from the house on a cable, but it did not want to start; the option was 2nd ignition module, fuel. This (2nd) time we were able to push the car in despite the rain, with the help of our neighbors.

The pit seemed a little inconvenient, or rather short for my car, I had to remember crawling with a machine gun under obstacles. I crawled into the back, and was glad that the suspension was not lowered =) The starter was removed a long time ago. I removed the crankcase protection (Some round rubber bands remained, who knows where to shove them? I unscrewed the linkage from the gearbox (Don’t believe me if you also read somewhere that you need to set the reverse gear and then unscrew the nuts from the wheels. I tried that too, the wheels are all... they spin equally =)) The only thing you need is to mark with a strip where the connection was, I scratched it straight with a screwdriver over the adhering dirt. Unscrewed the lower cover of the clutch housing.

Unscrewing the wheels is not a problem, but I will remember the nuts for a long time! The nuts are specially bent so that they do not unscrew themselves. There were no suitable chisels in the garage, so a screwdriver and a chisel were used (may they rest in heaven). I managed somehow with the existing tool, but in the future I’ll use a small chisel =) Before further procedure, a second person is required, but where can I get one?! =) I solved this issue by inserting L-shaped furniture keys into the disks. Next we needed to find a 30mm head! On the way to the store, I wandered home and found my father-in-law’s (future) suitcase. From there I took (as it seemed to me then) a more convenient knob with a long handle at the end of a cardan. But in the process he seemed fragile.

On the Internet, we also encountered the fragility of keys during the process of unscrewing such nuts. There were tips to buy a wheel key for a gazelle or zil. In the morning I decided that if another existing key did not help, then on the planned trip to get my army boots home, I would buy a new key. I took a regular wrench (the head mount slides along the piece of iron). Fortunately, it turned out to be stronger, but I couldn’t jump on it (even the sole on the right shoe came off =)! nothing worked.

Everything was further aggravated by the steering wheel, which easily turned along with the drives and was difficult to control. Thus, the key constantly tried to scratch the wing. The nut did not budge. I found some kind of tube 15-20 cm in size to combine the end of the key and the crowbar, but it just bulged =). I accidentally caught one of the neighbors and luckily he had a water pipe. That's what helped me! I asked my father-in-law for the same one over the phone (on ferrous metal).

I went shopping. I immediately went home to pick up some shoes; at home my father almost convinced me that I needed a puller to remove the flywheel. Near the house I went into a fastener and the nuts turned out to be 30 rubles, I decided to postpone the purchase until the market. First I went shopping on Antoshka.

The first seller rushed for a long time in search of a puller for the flywheel of the VAZ 2110, and asked for help from his colleagues. A little later they realized that it was not needed there =) I decided to buy a puller for the ball just in case, because the plan was to remove the drives! (as it turned out, you don’t need to press your finger out to remove it). What was not offered on the market. Some kind of soldier (which, as it turned out, was for the classics) in one place for 100 rubles.

But the seller didn’t find it at home, he sent it to the neighbors and asked for 250 - it looked like a bolt in a long nut =), In another place they explained to me that I didn’t need it. A suitable puller for the ball turned out to be 100 rubles cheaper than others (250 rubles are also pressed out of the steering wheel). The nuts on the market turned out to be at the same price as in the store here and I bought them. The next day it was necessary to remove the front wheel drives. There are 2 bolts on each side. (Only later did I find out that you don’t need to unscrew the nut from your finger =)).

Then adding all sorts of wooden blocks. I pulled the drives out of the box with a metal spatula. It was not difficult to unscrew the box (3 bolts and 1 nut from a stud, which seemed to be welded into the box, but more were found). It’s a bit difficult to take it off alone! After unscrewing, boards and a jack were placed under the car.

After jacking it up a little, while trying to pull it off, something got in the way. And then I remembered about some kind of left support that seemed right to me =) (and I didn’t see the point in unscrewing the engine.) You can unscrew the support in 2 ways a) unscrew the nut on top of the support and below b) unscrew the fastening on the box from the support 2 nuts with sides of the wheel and 1a under the clutch cable mount. I chose the first one. Then I moved the edge of the box higher than the ball and lowered the jack and lowered the box onto the boards.

KNOW! There is oil left in the drain box that flows out of the drive seals during removal. When removing the basket I again encountered the problem of free rotation. But I only had enough strength to overcome it the next day. Lightly tapping the old wreath with a hammer, he got off the flywheel without showing off (without any chisels and drilling, which some resorted to!). On the same day, while circumstances were going well, half an hour before arrival, I threw the flywheel into the freezer. And he went to take a shower.

After the shower (about 20 minutes) I quickly put everything together and tapped. The next day I decided to install the flywheel and disassemble the box to separate the part that was broken, so it would be easier to transport. But nothing worked, the neighbor suggested waiting for his friend, who said that the checkpoint needed to be COMPLETELY OPENED. There you will have to unscrew the tightly tightened nuts, and you need to do this together.

He finally convinced me not to unwind too much =) Taking this opportunity, I tried to take the box by car to the nearest service station with argon. On the advice of a neighbor’s friend, there was a pensioner there who cooks well, but I met an inadequate reaction from the workers there. No one cared and I was immediately told that they no longer deal with argon (they probably thought that they had to remove the box and it broke them). After a little persistence, one master lost his temper, chatted with some grandfather and finally said that there were no welders. After driving around, I spotted a spray can of advertisements in garages. On this day it was impossible to get through by phone and the garage was closed. The next day, after withdrawing money, I walked around to double-check the recorded number, got through on the phone, and they agreed on 100 rubles/1 cm.

Because the car was already missing, I decided to bring the box on a CART =). While there was time, I drained the gasoline from the filter to wash the welding area and the splinter.

At the appointed time, I installed the manual transmission in the cart, turned on the 1st speed =) and off the gas! On the same day, before work, they did not have time to finish the welding due to the absence of the 2nd person (he was drunk after vacation). On the second day I picked up my miracle on the same cart =) that day was after the night shift, so I took everything to the garage and called it a day. (in cm there was about 10, but I said that there is no and will not be more than 600 rubles) They cooked more from the inside, from the outside only in the area where the starter does not touch. The next day, right after work, I went to Antoshka, the goal was to find a centering mandrel for the clutch, carburetor cleaning fluid (to clean the box), and a boot for the fork.

Having walked all over Antoshka, no one had any mandrels! (Someone made a remark, but who the hell needs them? Now the clutch comes complete with mandrels!) When I left, I bought the cheapest carburetor cleaner for 100 rubles. (like an auto mechanic), they asked for 50 for a boot. I went shopping, there I found a boot for 35, one mandrel for 50 and 150. Slightly doubting the proportions they should be, I went home on the way to the fasteners. Similar proportions were found in the version for 150 rubles (3 levels), but in Fixtures for 150 the same was sold as for 50 rubles (2 levels). It was decided to return to the first store and take it for 50 rubles.

Only the edge was 15-17 and not 20. Later in the garage the mandrel was checked and it turned out to be sufficient. Tightened the basket with the clutch. I started cleaning the box from carbon deposits and dirt adhering to the oil stains.

I didn't like the cleaner. Before this I used ABRO, its pressure is 2 times higher, you don’t need to rub anything, everything fell off almost on its own. (I once bought it for 220 in fasteners for the same 140r) But I still cleaned it not bad. 300 grams lighter! =) The next time I decided to install the box, I even called my neighbor who had nominated himself before. But nothing worked for him, he grabbed the oil level dipstick to tighten the box, then made excuses that his wife was waiting and he had to go get her.

Realizing an almost hopeless situation, I decided to strain myself and come up with something. First, I threw the box under the car on 1 piece of wood. Then, somehow, he threw the left edge onto the ball and placed a wooden block under the right one.

I placed another piece of wood a little to the left and placed the jack on it. Lifting the left edge with a jack, I tried to push the edge further and further onto the ball, rearranging the block before catching my breath =). Finally, there was nowhere to move the left edge, but there was room to move the jack closer to the right. While lifting the jack, I managed to hook the box onto the left support! This almost meant victory. Further attempts to combine it with the engine failed until I decided to place a second piece of wood under the engine and lift it with a 2nd jack. After making sure that both jacks were firmly in place, I unscrewed the support and began to loosen the 1st jack.

After the edge of the box stud appeared a couple of centimeters, I immediately put a nut on it and tried to tighten it. I didn't tighten it much until I got the other bolts in place. Only after that I screwed the left support back and tightened the box. At the welding site there was a small depression under the starter, I decided to cover it with sealant. Next time I had to spend a whole day installing the drives! They tormented me even with the nuts =) I bought retaining rings for 3 rubles as it was written in the manual.

It’s hard to remember all the dances with a tambourine and obscene chants after coming out of a trance =) Plug the right drive into the box as far as it will fit, plug the second edge into the disk and screw it to the ball. Then, using a chisel, I used a chisel to make a wooden block to size, and hammered it with a hammer through the nut into the box (the locking ring should go deeper and lock it). The same thing happened with the left drive, but only one bolt can be screwed on. After the hammer, you can tighten the second one. After this, we tighten the ill-fated nuts and bend them in the slots. After assembly, I filled in the drained oil.

K. There is no money for a new one. There wasn’t enough space on the blog for a photo of a bottle with a hose =) I tried to start it. The starter turns but the engine does not catch, from this I concluded gasoline or MZ (soldered). So the main goal of replacing the crown and welding the box has been accomplished. Looking ahead, I’ll say that the car didn’t start when I filled it with gasoline = (a fallen wire was again found on the module, which even after re-soldering did not give the same results (I drove 200 meters).

In the future, I will conjure over the MZ until the money appears, and then I will either buy the MZ or make a divine spark (the same thing for money) Article from the site: http://www.drive2.ru.

C-class cars. And this is not surprising. On the one hand, there is a fairly wide selection of economical, well-equipped cars, while prices remain relatively affordable, on the other hand, the presence of many similar cars can even cause confusion. Which is better, Chevrolet Cruze or Opel Astra? Both are owned and both are manufactured by General Motors. However, these are by no means twins. Each model has its advantages, and there are also disadvantages. Let's talk about this in more detail.

Appearance

Fans of previous generations of Opel Astra will not be disappointed. Continuity is visible to the naked eye. However, new trends cannot be ignored. It seems that the body is generally devoid of right angles. All this gives Opel a modern appearance. Plus perfect aerodynamics and adds stability to the car on the road. The form corresponds to the content. Although the Opel Astra cannot be called a racing car, its dynamic and speed characteristics are very, very worthy.

The designers also tried to give it a certain touch of sportiness. And not to say that they failed. For example, a massive radiator grille gives the car a hint of animal power and grace. The headlights turned out good. Extended along the body, they look a bit like the eyes of some kind of infernal predator. But the bumpers are a bit thin - it even somehow stands out from the overall concept of the car.

If you choose Cruz or Astra, focusing only on the body, then Opel will win. Despite some good decisions, the Chevrolet Cruze looks unfinished. But in this respect it is perfect - nothing superfluous, everything is in its place.

Salon

Opel developers are clearly admirers of high-tech style. To see this, just look at the torpedo. You will only see such a number of buttons, toggle switches and other types of switches on an interplanetary starship. In order to study all this abundance, a considerable amount of time will be required. But it's worth it, because then you can control all the main functions of the car without even taking your eyes off the road. There is nothing bad to say about the finishing materials; they are of high quality, there are no sloppy seams at all.

The Chevrolet's interior didn't disappoint either. High-quality materials, seams no less neat than those of a competitor. The designers of the Chevrolet Cruze, when working out the details of the interior, were guided again. This is evidenced by the smooth lines of the trim elements and the instrument panel, which is divided into three parts by the “wells” of the frames. As a result, the instrument panel looks so stylish that, all other things being equal, when choosing an Opel Astra or Chevrolet Cruze, it may well tip the scales in favor of Chevrolet. I would especially like to note the presence of many pockets, compartments and other “little features”. There is a place to put small things so that they are always at hand.

Engine and transmission

There are two Opel fans at their disposal. Both engines are gasoline. One engine produces 180 “horses”, the second - 101. Depending on personal preferences, you can choose and. Are you a fan of active driving and crave complete control over the car? Good old mechanics are at your service. If you drive mainly in the city and value comfort and convenience (even at a loss in dynamics) - take an automatic. Fortunately, it’s good on the Opel Astra: gears are switched without delay, and you can select different algorithms.

Chevrolet lovers have a little more choice. However, quite recently the Chevrolet Cruze was also equipped with two engines. Namely, a volume of 1.6 liters and a power of 109 horsepower for fans of minimalism and a volume of 1.8 liters with a power of one hundred and forty-plus “horses”. Recently, another engine was added, which, with a seemingly small volume of 1.4 liters, produces exactly 140 horsepower. Plus, due to its small volume, this engine has enviable efficiency. In the Cruze vs Astra debate, we give Cruz a plus.

Behavior on the road

Test drive a Chevrolet Cruze:

As can be seen from, Cruz is not a particularly powerful car. It is good in traffic jams of a modern large city (this is facilitated by excellent traction at the bottom), but on the highway it will definitely lose to the Astra. And in Opel, all settings are “tailored” for high speed. The moderately stiff suspension perfectly handles all the unevenness of the track, and the well-adjusted steering will not allow the driver to lose control of the car in a sharp turn. The Chevrolet has worse handling.

Test drive an Opel Astra:

Bottom line

Let's summarize. The advantages of Opel Astra can be considered:

  • stylish body;
  • good aerodynamics;
  • futuristic steering column;
  • powerful engine;
  • good transmissions;
  • excellent suspension and finely tuned steering.

The Chevrolet Cruze has no less advantages. Namely:

  • stylish headlights;
  • beautifully designed instrument panel;
  • many pockets and compartments for small items;
  • large selection of power units.

So Astra or Cruze? It is very difficult to give a definite answer. Cruz is a little cheaper and, as mentioned above, performed well when traveling around the city. Astra's element is country roads, but it will also show itself at traffic lights. But it costs more. So choose based on personal preference - both cars are worth buying.

"Wir leben Autos!" – company motto Opel, founded more than a century ago in Germany, reflects the responsible attitude of employees to the development and creation of innovative cars. Opel products are always distinguished by a reasonable ratio of quality and price.

Chevrolet Cruze is available only with gasoline engines. Two motors have a volume 1.6 liters, power 109 And 113 horsepower. More powerful engine version 1.8 l has 141 hp.

What common

Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra cars are developed on the same platform Delta II. The front-wheel drive Delta II was designed by German engineers from the Opel division. The rear suspension on the platform is positioned as semi-independent, and is considered more wear-resistant than fully independent.

The Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra brands have engines with turbocharged– an effective measure to increase engine power, based on compression of incoming air using the energy of exhaust gases.

What is the difference

The Chevrolet Cruze is somewhat inferior to the Opel Astra in terms of speed performance. On the track, Opel wins with a clear advantage in terms of technical characteristics of acceleration and overall speed, because it is focused on speed. Acceleration to hundreds in Opel 2.3 seconds faster than Chevrolet.

The directional stability of the Opel Astra in special modes, for example when cornering at high speed, is much more stable than that of the Chevrolet Cruze. The risk of skidding or demolition of the car in Opel is significantly lower. The Chevrolet's handling, especially at top speeds, leaves much to be desired.

The amount of fuel consumed by a car is affected by the quality of gasoline and travel conditions. In all cases, the actual fuel consumption of the Opel Astra 2% lower than the Chevrolet Cruze.

The interior of the Opel Astra is made using quality materials, looks expensive and noble. The assembly is not satisfactory, which is a good tradition for German cars. The interior of the Chevrolet Cruze looks simpler, the plastic is soft, and scratches quickly appear on it.

If we compare the trunks, the Chevrolet’s is more spacious and has a volume of 500 liters. Opel's luggage compartment is a quarter smaller and has a volume of 375 liters.

The larger the minimum turning radius, the worse the vehicle's maneuverability. The parameters of the Chevrolet Cruze in this indicator have an advantage over the Opel Astra by 15%.

Which car to choose

For motorway travel, especially at high speeds, the Opel Astra should be preferred. The car holds the road clearly and is easy to control. In urban environments, you can choose a more budget-friendly Chevrolet Cruze. There will be savings both during purchase and during operation if there is a need to replace any unit.

If silence in the cabin is important, then the Opel Astra will more than satisfy this need. External noise during the trip does not cause concern. But the Chevrolet Cruze, on the contrary, pesters the driver with the roar of the suspension. The shock absorber struts are not modified and are a source of noise.

On rough roads, Chevrolet door seals squeak.

For trips to the country, you need a large luggage space, which is present in the Chevrolet Cruze. If driving fast is not a priority, and you plan to get to your summer cottage in a relaxed manner, then Chevrolet will be a better option compared to Opel.

Good day to all!

Today's post is probably more like a questionnaire.

In the summer of 2014, I decided to sell my Mazda and buy a completely new car from the showroom. Before Mazda, I had a Chevrolet Lacetti, an unpretentious car that has never let me down, actually making my father happy at the present time.

And my choice somehow immediately fell in the direction of the Cruise, a white sedan in the maximum configuration 1.8 with an automatic transmission.

I went to showrooms, looked, and wanted it more and more.

At the same time, selling my previous car.

And now the hour X has come. The car has been sold, the required amount is in my pocket. I'm going to the dealership to negotiate a car and leave an advance payment. And in a conversation with the manager, he quite by chance asks why Cruz and not Opel, etc.

Well, I told him that it all comes down to money, and that the Astra in the minimum configuration ends where

Cruz in the maximum configuration.

Well, then, completely by accident, surfing his computer, he offers me my Astra, with a turbo engine, 17 wheels, with the active+ package and only 15 thousand more expensive than the Cruze.

The choice was clear, towards a turbo engine and heated steering wheel)))

So that’s what I’m talking about, I drive an Astra, but I still salivate over the white Cruze, and sometimes thoughts come to me about buying it, a white sedan, with tint all around, a black roof and on black rims...

What’s interesting here is the opinion of people who have driven both in order to hear any positive/negative comparisons.

I'm also considering buying an Astra. I looked at several reviews and all of them complain about the lack of knee room for rear passengers. Tell me, as a former owner of a nesting doll, is there less space in the back of the Mazda or the same amount?

I can say with 100% confidence that there is more space in an Opel hatch than in a Mazda hatch!

How is a turbo engine after a naturally aspirated one, how is it warming up in winter, how is the dynamics, consumption?

The Mazda drove better, it was a little rocket.

I drove the stock GTC 1.4 turbo. Well, there I had 2 liters and 150 horses in a manual transmission.

It warms up quickly, in winter I start moving slowly at 30 degrees. I don’t heat it up when the temperature is above zero, the speed will drop as the food goes down.

And I’m happy with the car, it’s comfortable, quiet and quite dynamic. The only thing is that there are a lot of childhood illnesses, you can read about this in the BZ.

I also considered the Cruze and Opel. Cruz seemed too grammatical. In this price segment, the Opel Astra is one of the best cars in appearance, interior, comfort and ease of driving. I say one of the best and not the best) After the Opel, I will only buy a German one, because... Russian assembly jambs are coming out.

I also dreamed and was burning with buying a Mazda 3) and after selling my car I went to buy it) but nothing worthy and expected was found) and an Opel Astra in the Cosmo configuration caught my eye) and as soon as I got into it, I realized that this was my car and I’ll drive away with it now) it makes me very happy, but still a dream is a dream) and that’s why when I see a black Mazda 3 in a hatch I’m drooling over it)

As for Mazda, the hatch in one body is of course legendary :)

I think he is the most beautiful of all generations!

he rules the roost) in Nizhny Novgorod a guy was selling a club car) at maximum speed the latest restyling but I didn’t have time ((it was very disappointing) but I’m also happy with my purchase of an Opel)

I just had the last rest, with MP-3, manual transmission-6 and piano black panels

why did I change)) of course the Opel is more modern and in my opinion more cheerful)) but a Mazda is a Mazda) especially since it was like that) they don’t do any better

because it was already 6 years old, and the mileage was 103 thousand, I sold it in half a day and for a very good amount, at a time when the market was at a standstill.

Opel is a calm and comfortable car.

A 2-liter Mazda is a crazy stool, a little rocket :)

Thanks for your opinion.

Now I might consider a new seed, I really like the look.

I also looked at Ford, but the reviews about the 3rd Focus are very bad, they say the car is not the same as before...

I agree about the Ford, it’s not the same anymore, but this is more of an example, in the context of anything but an Opel)))

If I had a choice between Opel and Chevrolet, I would choose Kia. Or Ford. Or at least Lada (as it turned out, Lada is more reliable than Opel). No offense, practice has shown that Opel is not worth the money due to problems with workmanship, and Cruz is 2/3 (if not 3/4) Opel, a lot of their parts are interchangeable. Moreover, due to the departure of the GM corporation from the Russian market, they have a big problem with sales on the secondary market, a friend of mine has been trying to dump her GTC 1.4 on the handle for 3 months now.

Once again, please do not be offended by such an unusual opinion. I recommend carefully monitoring the condition of the turbine, engine and cooling system - the most sore spots in this generation

I owned four Opels, from Kadett to Jki, they were nothing but delightful. All cars break down, without exception. But in terms of repairs, the Opel is very simple and the price is a little more expensive than the VAZ, but in some places it’s about the same. Between G and H I had Focus 2, Spaniard. Well, I’ll tell you that it got on my nerves like more than one Opel. As I remember now, when I got on it after G, I kept thinking that the doors were not closed because there was a rustling noise in the cabin so that the passenger could barely be heard. There is zero noise, there are a ton of (factory) defects, and repairing just one chassis costs such an amount that it’s just brutal. Consumption of 1.8l. more than N ORS. On a Mazda it was the same thing as a focus, only outwardly different.

And LCP. This is a completely separate topic. Now the door on my Astra was crushed by the previous owner, right from the end (I didn’t put the handbrake on, the car rolled and the door hit a pillar), so when they put the metal back, the paint peeled off a little. And to this day it remains unfinished. And at the place of the chip (the size of 2 thumbs) there is at least the slightest hint of rust, perfectly clean metal.

Mileage 150 thousand! After purchasing the coolant tanks and heat exchanger gaskets, I changed them. Well, the rack at the back is knocking. Compression in all boilers is 13. Here's Opil for you =)

There are a lot of people who trash them, but there are also those who will also say that this is an awesome car!)

Watch an interesting video on this topic

Moreover, they are not only built on a common platform, but are even produced at the same plant. But whether the new Chevy is really capable of competing on equal terms with its European relative is a big question

Presented

Jimmy's "worldwide" car, the Chevrolet Cruze, appeared in 2009. Its model range began with a sedan, to which a hatchback was added in 2011, and a station wagon will soon join them. The Cruze is assembled at the GM plant in Shushary near St. Petersburg. The current generation of Opel Astra, whose world premiere took place in the same 2009, is already the fourth in a row. Its production is also organized at the St. Petersburg GM plant. The new Astra has been on sale in our market since the spring of 2010, and is available along with the previous generation. The hatchback is the basis of the current Opel Astra model line, which also includes a station wagon and a three-door GTC version.

Upon closer inspection, the completely different interiors of our rivals are replete with unified elements - they have the same steering column levers, power window buttons and steering wheel buttons. But the interior of the Opel Astra leaves a more pleasant impression: the finishing materials here are better than in the Chevrolet. In addition, there is a suspicion that the light “canvas” used for the upholstery of the Cruze’s front panel will turn out to be quite brandish. Almost all of the Cruze's increase in length (91 mm) compared to the Astra goes to its trunk. That’s why it has more volume, despite the full-size spare wheel. But Opel has a double floor in the cargo compartment, the height of which can be adjusted.

Let's go for a ride

The naturally aspirated engine of the Chevrolet Cruze has better “luck” at the low end, and therefore it is more convenient to crawl in the viscous Moscow traffic jams. But as soon as the slightest opening appears, the Astra, with its explosive turbo boost, immediately wins back. And in the operational space, the Chevrolet Cruze even more so leaves no chance. Opel's suspension is more assembled - it handles unevenness better and does not allow swinging. The Cruze has a slightly softer suspension, but hardly more comfortable. Accordingly, the Astra steers more pleasantly and makes turns more accurately. The Chevrolet Cruze can counter this only with easier gear shifting (the effort is more noticeable on the Opel) and slightly better visibility through the side mirrors. This is clearly not enough to even the score.

Asked the price

Prices for a basic Chevrolet Cruze with a 1.6-liter engine and manual transmission start at RUB 562,000. An Opel Astra with a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated unit and manual transmission is estimated at a minimum of 593,900 rubles, and with a 1.6-liter engine it will cost 629,900 rubles. The most expensive Chevrolet Cruze - with a 1.8-liter 141-horsepower unit and an automatic transmission - will cost 769,000 rubles. The Opel Astra in the top Cosmo version with a 1.4-liter turbo engine of almost the same power and an automatic transmission costs not much more - 794,000 rubles, while a similar car, but with the most powerful engine in the range - 1.6 turbo, 180 hp . - will cost 849,000 rubles. Taking into account Opel's superiority in equipment, we have approximate parity.

Bottom line

Editor:

The Chevrolet Cruze is a seemingly good car, but somehow boring and characterless. It has no striking features, no memorable features either in design or in behavior. Overall, the Cruze didn't grab my attention. Another thing is Astra! Everything is in order here with charisma, and with emotions, and with the pleasure of driving. The current generation of Astra has turned out to be extremely successful. You can, of course, speculate about the difference in price and the advantage of the Opel participating in the test over the Chevy in equipment and engine power. But even in versions with engines of the same displacement and comparable trim levels, the Chevrolet Cruze is not so much cheaper than the Opel Astra that there is a desire to give it preference.
