Kia Rio or Renault Fluence which is better. Kia Rio or Renault Fluence which is better What is better Renault Fluence or Kia Rio

The visibility is small, like in a tank, everything rattles, the suspension is like Logan's, which is not good for. Well, what can I say - a heartbroken piece of iron! The seats were reminiscent of airport saddlebags - hard, uncomfortable, even if you sit on a suitcase.

Nearby stood the quite red and beautiful Renault Fluence, which nevertheless beckoned me to her. Changing the oil in...

The stroller fits easily and much more. Yes, and you will work on gasoline alone

It’s possible, but naked and without anything at all?? The first thing that upset me was when I sat down the way I needed, I immediately hit the door with my left elbow!!!

I decided to start the test drive with Duster so that the sensations would be more objective.

Renault Fluence after purchase is terrible people... and where were your eyes???

Well, what can I say - a heartbroken piece of iron! The first thing that upset me was when I sat down the way I needed, I immediately hit the door with my left elbow!!!

The visibility is small, like in a tank, everything rattles, the suspension is like Logan’s, which is not good for me. It looks big, but in reality it's cramped inside.

The seats were reminiscent of airport saddlebags - hard, uncomfortable, even if you sit on a suitcase. On the road, it’s so-so, noisy, and this is with a ground clearance of mm. I think that if a person is ready to give almost that much. Yes, the mechanical one was a significant drawback for me personally.

3 reasons to buy Kia Rio

I don’t know whether I was confused or didn’t hear the real reason, but there’s no way to drive an automatic transmission. I tested the maximum configuration. Returning to the car dealership, I switched to Fluence.

There is a noticeable difference in the seats. In Fluence, everything is so well-rounded, the finishing is soft plastic, good upholstery fabric, interesting fabric on the ceiling.

The gearbox is a variator, a handbrake without clicks: What is important for me is the seat height adjustment. I think even the shortest person will be happy with the seat travel: The first thing I noticed was the windshield - very small, square and very large partitions between the windshield and side windows, the side mirrors are normal, the central one is again like in a tank.

The car started off, it was light, it started moving without unnecessary emotions, quiet Michelin tires with studs. I felt a significant difference with electric power steering. I had to quickly drive out from the auto center onto the main road - I swerved and ended up in oncoming traffic - luckily I reacted, but I think it’s a matter of habit.

On the way to the sales manager, I decided to check the suspension - I immediately drove into bumps: Some are swearing, others are swearing, etc.

But no one can really say anything about comparing 2 cars.

Someone says that you can take it. It’s possible, but naked and without anything at all?? And why is such a machine needed then, like more show-offs and that’s it??

You take it for yourself! Here's what I found about prices: Fluence costs rubles - this is the minimum price for Fluence from the official website http: Yes, for this money, for me it’s better to buy RIO Prestige! Well, this is my personal opinion. Here’s a comparison: Moscow is a city where you can stand in traffic jams for hours and it’s not a fact that before YOU look at the consumption of Fluence - it doesn’t scare you???

And this is only declared, which means in fact there will be all 19 liters. Damn, the ZIL “Bull” eats the same amount..

Diesel engines, so popular in Europe, are not suitable for us due to poor fuel quality, and more powerful gasoline engines are too expensive for the mass consumer. It is not surprising, therefore, that the Fluence debuted with us with a single 1.6-liter engine; the buyer was free to choose only the transmission that suited him: a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed hydromechanical automatic. However, just the other day the Fluence version with a 2-liter engine (138 hp) and a CVT went on sale.

KIA Cerato is also offered with engines of 1.6 and 2 liters, but the lion's share of sales falls on versions with a lower engine, especially since it stands out from its competitors with good performance and develops a maximum power of 126 hp. (versus 106 hp for Renault Fluence). The Korean sedan can also be ordered with either a manual or an automatic transmission, and both versions sell equally well. Unlike hatchbacks of this class, which city residents are increasingly purchasing with an automatic transmission, sedan buyers still remain faithful to the manual transmission - among them are taxi drivers, summer residents and poor residents of remote regions, who often do not have enough money for an automatic transmission.

In terms of prices and equipment, Cerato and Fluence are very close, but Renault is larger and more representative in appearance, and KIA captivates with a 5-year warranty and more power, so both cars have approximately equal chances of winning.

In the city

The Korean sedan demonstrates vigorous acceleration dynamics - the idea that it would be nice to have a more powerful engine paired with a manual transmission does not even occur to us. There are no comments on the clarity of gear shifting, but during the week of testing it was not possible to get used to the not very informative clutch - there is always a risk of stalling at the most inopportune moment. The suspension is energy-intensive, but quite stiff and noisy, and the ground clearance is not the highest - it’s easy to hit the front bumper against the curb when parking.

The Fluence has more ground clearance, and the suspension better smoothes out uneven road surfaces, but is prone to breakdowns on large potholes. The French engine is noticeably weaker than the Korean one, but thanks to good traction at low speeds (a characteristic feature of many Renault engines) and a well-tuned clutch, driving around the city does not cause problems.

The Renault has a longer wheelbase, but it’s still more comfortable to sit in the back in a KIA

In general, the KIA seems to be a livelier and more maneuverable car in the city than the Renault, but the “Frenchman” impresses with its comfortable clutch, high ground clearance and good smoothness, so there is parity in the city round.

In the country

On rough country roads, the KIA Cerato's suspension will seem harsh to many, but in fact it behaves in the same way as most European cars designed for smooth autobahns, and not for the cobblestones of the 19th century, which our roads sometimes resemble. One of the advantages of the suspension is its energy intensity: it is difficult to bring it to the point of breakdown. All other features are more likely to be considered disadvantages: in particular, directional stability on a bad road is not the highest - you have to hold the steering wheel with both hands so that the car remains on the desired trajectory. But a fairly powerful engine allows for safe and fast overtaking, but Renault is not much worse in this sense, although it requires better tactical training from the driver. The steering of the Fluence is not as informative as that of the Cerato, but it is precisely this feature that eliminates unnecessary stress behind the wheel on a long journey, and good ride comfort and good sound insulation allow passengers to take a peaceful nap. Add to this the higher ground clearance, and you will understand why we would prefer to go on a long trip around Russia with the Renault Fluence.

Controllability

The chassis of both cars is made according to the textbook design for class C: McPherson struts in the front suspension and a torsion beam in the rear, but the character of the cars is different. The KIA Cerato's behavior is reminiscent of the Mazda3 - precise and informative steering, quick responses to the gas and brake, reckless and sometimes even a little nervous behavior. The Korean sedan provokes recklessness, and there are many drivers who will like it.

Renault Fluence, on the contrary, promotes a calm and smooth ride. The steering is precise, but not very informative, and the roll in corners is greater than that of its rival, and in general it feels like the chassis lives a life separate from the body. In extreme situations, this can play a cruel joke on the driver, but, on the other hand, those who choose Fluence are unlikely to risk getting into situations where emergency driving skills are required. Nevertheless, ESP should be included in the basic equipment, but even in the expensive Fluence trim levels it is offered only at an additional cost.

KIA Cerato is equipped with a stabilization system in all trim levels except the basic one, and this approach seems to us more civilized. Coupled with more predictable behavior, this brings the Korean car victory in this round.

Ergonomics and comfort The interior of the KIA Cerato is decorated with fairly simple materials that do not pretend to be “premium”. The assembly, however, is neat - nothing creaks or rattles while driving, and the ergonomics are clearly taken from the best European cars. Finding a comfortable driving position is not difficult for a driver of any height; all instruments and switches are conveniently located, visibility is good in all directions.

The passenger sofa is quite spacious: there is a minimum amount of space in all directions - a long road here is unlikely to seem like torture to anyone, even despite the fact that the ride is worse than that of its rival.

Although the climate control is not separate, it conscientiously copes with its duties in the fierce July heat, and its control is intuitive. The sound of the standard audio system is a solid B by the standards of its class and allows you to listen to your favorite musical compositions at a decent volume level without strong frequency distortion. The Renault audio system is only good in the background, but if you turn up the volume, the weakness of the amplifier becomes obvious. The dual-zone climate control pleased us with the presence of “soft” and “fast” operating modes, but it is impossible to control the keys that swing up and down by touch - you have to take your eyes off the road.

The driving position is no less comfortable than in the KIA, however, not everyone will like the instruments tilted forward according to the French tradition, and rearward visibility due to the sloping coupe-like glass leaves much to be desired. But the quality of finishing materials is almost the highest in its class - inside the Fluence you can’t shake the feeling that its decoration will retain its presentation even after several years of use.

The Renault wheelbase is 53 mm longer than that of the KIA, but it’s more cramped for passengers in the rear seat: the low roof presses on the head, and the knees practically rest against the backs of the front seats - KIA’s designers have clearly done a better job. However, rivals receive equal marks for ergonomics and comfort: on the Fluence side there is a good smooth ride and high-quality finishing, the Cerato advantage is in the space for rear passengers and slightly better ergonomics of the driver's seat.

Practicality

The luggage compartment of the KIA Cerato is quite roomy by the standards of its class - 415 liters - and is capable of satisfying most of the owner's transportation needs, but the Renault Fluence here even lays claim to a record - 530 liters plus the largest opening with the rear seat backs folded, allowing you to transport quite large items in the car. lengths.

With a full load, both cars sag noticeably, and it is easier for the Renault’s suspension to break down, but if the key parameter is not weight, but volume and ease of loading, then the Renault looks better. Moreover, the trunk of the “Frenchman” can be opened using a button on the lid itself, while the KIA can only be opened with a key fob or a lever from the passenger compartment, which is not entirely convenient for a driver loaded with shopping bags.

Renault Megane is a French car, one of the often compared to the Kia Rio. Cars in the same class and price segment have similar characteristics, but when choosing a model, some of the parameters have a decisive effect. Let's look at the model of the French manufacturer in comparison with Rio.

Design

The design of Renault Megane is very stylish, modern, like the Kia Rio, it contains sporty notes and corresponds to the latest fashion trends. The shape of the car is very harmonious, the model attracts attention in the stream of its peers. LED running lights make it expressive, bright, and dynamic. When creating a car, high-quality materials and special stylish notes are used - like glossy trims and shiny chrome parts.

Engine and dynamics

Renault Megane and Kia Rio are available with both petrol and diesel engines. The French model is offered with engines:

  • diesel, volume 1.5 l;
  • petrol 1.6 l.

The petrol version has a continuously variable transmission, while the diesel version has a robotic dual-clutch transmission.

Thanks to a special variator, acceleration occurs smoothly and linearly at any speed, making driving comfort practically independent of the speed limit. Gears change very quickly, which provides good dynamics during acceleration.

Equipment

By purchasing Renault Megane, the car owner receives:

  • dual-zone climate control;
  • modern audio system with excellent sound;
  • front and rear parking sensors;
  • digital speedometer providing an innovative dashboard look;
  • chrome elements in the interior;
  • excellent seat upholstery.

Reviews about Renault Megane

Owners of the French model first of all complain about the traditional shortcomings inherent in almost all Renault models - inconvenience in accessing some functions, unusual side mirrors. You need to get used to the features of the car; additional installation of parking sensors may be necessary due to insufficient awareness of the dimensions.

The car's reliability is much lower compared to Rio. Considering the difficulties in repairing and servicing a French car, this drawback is significant. Some parts wear out too quickly - for example, the timing belt needs to be changed every 60 thousand kilometers.

The Kia Rio has more space for rear passengers, despite the fact that the Korean is slightly smaller than the Renault. Due to Megan’s low ground clearance, this car simply won’t work on the dirt roads of our country’s outback; this option can only be considered if it’s designed solely for driving on a flat surface. Not the best suspension for our conditions.

Car comparison

A worthy car, a “true Frenchman,” Renault Megane is in the forefront in its price segment in terms of design, interior comfort, and handling. Frequent modifications have only made it better and more attractive. A new modern car, quite compact but roomy - a good choice for urban conditions. Most of the characteristics are comparable to the Kia Rio Hatchback, but the most important ones are at a significant disadvantage - in particular, the car's power.

Among our motorists there is a prejudice against French cars due to insufficient convenience and the unfamiliarity of truly French solutions in the model. Unless you're dismissive of a car just because it's French, considering the Megan is a must.

However, anyone interested in cars will say that against the backdrop of the enormous popularity of Rio, Megan turns out to be inconspicuous. What is the reason?

In addition to the already presented shortcomings of the model, which you can get used to if you really want to, but the more significant problems that arise during the maintenance and repair of Renault Megane frighten many. For a “Korean” it is much easier to find the necessary spare parts and quality service. An experienced motorist will not choose a car whose repair requires a long search for the necessary spare parts and the appropriate car service.

Fuel consumption

Another major advantage of the Kia Rio over its French counterpart is fuel consumption. As can be seen from the comparative table of characteristics, this indicator is much inferior to Renault. During the operation of the car, such an important expense item becomes even more significant due to the market situation. Fuel costs will be 30% more. Considering that these funds need to be constantly invested in the car, most buyers, even without complaints about the French model in all other respects, will prefer the more economical Korean.

Selling price of a used car

When buying a car, any motorist must take into account the possibility of further selling the car when he wants to purchase another model or simply get significant funds. And in this regard, Rio beats Megan by a lot. It is very difficult to sell a Renault model here, whereas for Kia there is always a buyer. Even with a significant reduction in price, Megan owners wait a long time for someone to finally choose their car.

The reasons for this low demand are described above. This includes a dislike for French models, inconvenient maintenance, difficulties with repairs, high fuel consumption, and poor adaptation to domestic driving conditions. And this is also one of the good reasons why, when choosing between the two models under consideration, in most cases preference will be given to the Kia Rio.
