➕ Dynamics
➕ Controllability
➕ Patency
➕ Light

The advantages and disadvantages of the 2018-2019 Nissan X-Trail in the new body were identified based on reviews from real owners. More detailed pros and cons of Nissan X-Trail 2.0 and 2.5 with manual, automatic and CVT, as well as 1.6 diesel with front-wheel drive and 4x4 all-wheel drive can be found in the stories below.

Owner reviews

The main disadvantage compared to the T-31 is that the car is “dirty”! Open sills collect all the dirt and it is impossible to get in or out of the car without getting your trousers dirty.

The entire rear of the car instantly becomes dusty (or dirty). Because of this, despite the automatic washer, the rear view camera becomes useless and, accordingly, the blind spot monitoring function associated with this camera becomes useless.

The second drawback is the stiffer suspension. She is flawless on the track, at speed. But the “washboard” of a rural road pretty much shakes out the soul.

The power window buttons on the door are not illuminated, the mirror folding button is small, and the seat heating buttons are located inconveniently. In addition, the heated rear seats have disappeared, which is not superfluous with a leather interior.

LED Bi-Led optics are beyond praise. Royal spaciousness in the rear seats, excellent handling, good sound insulation. The electric drive of the 5th door with a contactless touch sensor is very convenient. Blind spot monitoring, lane control - the electronic components are good and work very well.

In general, if you live in the city, then the new X-Trail T32 has practically no drawbacks and is the best crossover in the category up to 1.7 million. But for residents of rural areas (which includes me), I probably would not recommend it.

Video review

Electric handbrake - in a traffic jam, at a traffic light or on a hill, you turn it on and that's it - your leg is free. We need to continue driving, I increased the speed and drove off, it turned off. All-round visibility is an irreplaceable thing in cramped conditions and you can see everything around. LED headlights - high beam is very good.

LED headlights (low beam) illuminate the side of the road normally, but it bothers the roadway. The fact is that at the end of the lighting zone there is too sharp a transition to the dark contour. If there is interference in this area, you may not see it during the time.

Vyacheslav Golovtsov, drives a Nissan X-Trail 2.5 (171 hp) automatic, 2015.

I expected more from the new Nissan X-Trail T32. The noise insulation is disgusting, you have to turn the music up louder so as not to hear the noise of the wheels (not spikes) and the engine.

The suspension is also very stiff. All in all, a bling. The front bumper could be made with a bevel to increase the clearance, otherwise it might get caught on something. In general, the car is not for our roads. I do not advise.

Plus an inconvenient door handle from inside the car. When you open the door, there is nothing to hold it. They could make a normal hole in the front for towing, instead of screwing in a pin (the latch has already fallen out somewhere).

Where can I buy?

Value for money. I was pleasantly surprised by the variator. Acceleration is dynamic, greyhound, no jerks, starts easily, picks up speed, no problems with overtaking, you need a shot - please.

There were no problems with the handbrake (as many wrote), pulled it up - parking, lowered it down - let's go. Cool - electric heating of the front window, very quickly!

In the field: the paws work perfectly in wet snow of 30 cm + ice below, trots like a saiga, powerful, quite stable, maintains a normal speed of 190 km/h on the highway, climbs excellently on ruts.

Elena Mirgorodskaya, drives a Nissan X-Trail 2.5 (171 hp) automatic, 2015.

I expected more, I don’t really like the variator: it’s convenient, but the acceleration is kind of sluggish. But the seats are very comfortable, I like the rear seat adjustment: both longitudinally and tilted. There is a lot of space in the cabin, but the trunk is too small for such a car, everything is eaten up by the spare tire.

Sound insulation is average; during the test drive the car was quieter. The suspension is stiff, you can feel all the little things, I haven’t tried it off-road, but the ground clearance is pleasing.
After the run-in (currently the mileage is 6,000 km), fuel consumption has decreased: city - 10.4, highway - 7, and I started running faster.

Alexey Sporov, drives a Nissan X-Trail 2.0 (144 hp) AT 2015

The car is comfortable and modern. It's worth the money. A great option for the city. Among the advantages, I note ease of operation and low gasoline consumption. The car is warm, comfortable climate control.

Among the shortcomings is the low-slung bumper. Inconvenient for off-road use. Driving through potholes it often gets stuck. Before is very afraid of pits. At speed, the front end simply crashes into a wall. The plastic in the cabin creaks, very unpleasantly. Accelerating to 120 km/h, the car begins to wobble and becomes unstable.

Review of Nissan X-Trail 2.0 automatic 2016

In June 2017, I bought it for 1,770,000 rubles (SE+ equipment). At the beginning of July, after driving 600 km, a cricket appeared in the trunk, not even a cricket, but a real squeak. I came to the “officials”, told about the problem, and they said that there is no specialist in squeaks, and in general the case is not under warranty, they say you will come when the specialist arrives.

After 2 weeks, when their specialist came out, I arrived. The creaking was eliminated in 2 hours, explaining that the car had not undergone pre-sale preparation, but now everything was lubricated, tightened and everything is fine.

All was well... for a while. After the first trip into nature (the luggage compartment was not even loaded to capacity), the creaking sound was added to the sound of breaking plastic all in the same luggage compartment.

Review of the 2016 Nissan X-Trail 2.0 with all-wheel drive and CVT.

(3rd generation) is based on the modular CMF platform, which is a modern variation of the Nissan C platform. Most of the car’s body elements are made of high-strength steel, which significantly reduces the total weight of the structure. The curb weight of the crossover, depending on the modification, varies in the range of 1525-1675 kg.

The Russian specification of the Nissan X-Trail provides for the presence of three power units: two naturally aspirated gasoline engines with a volume of 2.0 and 2.5 liters (144 and 171 hp, respectively), as well as a 1.6 dCi turbocharged diesel engine with an output of 130 hp. (320 Nm). Both gasoline engines were installed on the previous generation (X-Trail T31), but during the crossover update they were modernized, resulting in a slight increase in power. The engine can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or an XTronic CVT, which emulates seven ranges. Along with the front-wheel drive layout, all-wheel drive with an intelligent All Mode 4×4-i all-wheel drive system is provided.

The all-terrain vehicle's suspension is a design with front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link, and each modification has its own chassis settings. The basic trunk volume of the car is limited to 497 liters (with five seats), the maximum – 1585 liters (configuration with two front passengers and folded rear seatbacks).

The fuel consumption of the Nissan X-Trail T32 with a 2.0 engine is 7.1-11.2 liters, depending on the modification and driving mode. An all-wheel drive crossover with a 2.5 engine burns on average about 8.3 liters of fuel. The diesel X-Trail is the most economical - consumption of no more than 5.3 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km in a mixed driving cycle.

Engines Nissan X-Trail T32

1.6 dCi R9M 130 hp

The new Energy dCi 130 turbodiesel with the factory index R9M was developed by Renault-Nissan for subsequent installation on its models. The production of the power unit was launched in 2011 in France. The engine belongs to a new generation of engines that are characterized by efficiency, high torque and low carbon dioxide emissions. The power unit is equipped with a Start/Stop system, a variable geometry compressor, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system with a cold cycle, and Direct Injection. The R9M cylinder block is made of cast iron, the cylinder head is made of aluminum, and the pistons are coated with graphite.

The maximum torque of 320 Nm is achieved at 1750 rpm, while 80% of the peak torque is available at 1500 rpm. The engine meets the requirements of the Euro-5 standard, but is also prepared for the transition to Euro-6. The motor is also installed on cars, and.

2.0 MR20DD 144 hp

The MR20DD petrol engine is a modernized MR20DE unit from the previous Ixtrail. During the update, the engine was equipped with a variable valve timing system on both camshafts, a variable-length intake manifold and direct injection. As a result, power increased from 141 to 144 hp, and torque increased from 196 to 200 Nm.

2.5 QR25DE 171 hp

The four-cylinder QR25DE engine is a real long-liver, as it appeared back in 1999 and was installed on the very first Nissan X-Trail. During its life, the unit was updated several times, receiving another portion of innovations by the time the third generation of Ixtrail debuted. The engine acquired a new cylinder head with holes for injectors (previously the injectors were installed on the manifold), a variable timing system on the intake and exhaust valves, and an intake tract with an adjustable length. All this, combined with an increase in the compression ratio from 9.6 to 10.0, gave a gain of 2 hp. (171 versus the previous 169 hp) At the same time, the peak engine torque has shifted from 4400 to 4000 rpm.

All-wheel drive Nissan X-Trail

The Nissan Xtrail crossover is initially a front-wheel drive car with a plug-in rear axle. The main component of the All Mode 4x4-i system is an electromagnetic clutch mounted in front of the rear differential. The all-wheel drive system can be controlled using a three-mode switch located on the central tunnel.

The “2WD” position allows the clutch to open, but in this mode the crossover still does not become exclusively front-wheel drive. If the electronics deem it necessary, part of the effort will be sent to the rear axle, but still the connection will be reluctant. The 4WD mode is suitable for almost any conditions, so it will most likely be used by the owner most often. In this case, the rear axle is connected automatically when the front wheels slip. The ratio of transmitted torque varies from 100:0 to 50:50.

In Lock mode, maximum current is applied to the clutch electromagnet, resulting in the clutch being completely locked. The force is distributed in a fixed proportion of 50:50, which is forcibly maintained when driving at speeds up to 40 km/h. Exceeding this speed limit leads to a transition to the “Auto” mode.

The all-wheel drive design does not provide for full locking front and rear differentials. Electronic imitation of inter-wheel locks is performed by braking the slipping wheel.

This stylish and maneuverable compact Japanese crossover quickly gained popularity in the world market. A brutal SUV requires careful care and timely repairs, which will allow it to maintain its attractive appearance for a long time. The previous version of the truly popular Nissan X-Trail looked like an SUV, but in fact it was a crossover. The new generation, T32, has the same body shape and continues to be misleading: although the car has been updated, it is built on the same units, albeit updated.

In the Russian Federation, the previous version was loved by many car owners and was in great demand. Its comfortable suspension and huge trunk make it an excellent option for long journeys. But this barrel of honey also has a fly in the ointment: its off-road capabilities were very limited, and its handling on asphalt was far from ideal. Over time, the Nissan X-Trail began to lose its leading position, and more successful competitors began to overtake it. A review of this car has been prepared especially for you.

The main features that the new Nissan X-Trail has are frowning headlights, a sloping forehead and sunken sides. Compared to its predecessor, the updated Nissan X-Trail has become significantly larger, although at first glance you couldn’t tell. This is especially felt inside the car: its front panel has become much larger, the central air ducts are shaped in a chrome frame, a glossy black multimedia console has appeared, the steering wheel has acquired a signature shape, and soft linings have appeared on the central tunnel. The fit and quality of the materials used have improved significantly. Separately in the review, we need to highlight the driver’s seat: it has become so soft, it seems that you are sitting in the air.

Internal options

The updated version of the X-Trail now features dual-zone climate control and a heated windshield. Significantly, the rear passenger seats are not heated. This is probably the only thing that can specifically upset passengers in the second row. Among the advantages of the second row, it should be noted that it is placed higher than the first, and passengers seem to look down on
the surrounding world, the view from there is incredibly wide. There is enough room to sit down, there is enough space to put your feet. If there is a need to adjust the blower, then you need to try hard to reach it. The central section with options has become quite comfortable, an armrest with many cells. The new version of Nissan can accommodate up to 7 people at a time. However, it should be noted that there will be no official sales of 7-seater versions of this car in Russia: demand is very low.

Trunk

The 5th door of this car is equipped with an electric drive, it can be opened even without any effort. To do this, you just need to move your hand near the sensor located above the license plate. The trunk of the updated Nissan X-Trail has become a little larger: it used to be 479 liters, but now it is 497. However, the previous generation Nissan X-Trail had two drawers, and it was possible to fold the rear seats. Of course, if you fold the backrests, the trunk of the previous version is beyond competition. The new version has a smaller underground space, but now has the ability to insert it into special holes. In this way, you can organize special shelves: horizontal and vertical. The latter, in turn, divides the luggage compartment in half. This is a rather convenient function, as it helps to neatly distribute things into compartments. Also, such shelves prevent the view from being blocked when reversing.

Handling and dynamics

It was possible to test it on the lands of an amazing region, the Republic of Karelia. It is impossible to describe its roads: exciting turns, sharp descents and ascents. Cracked asphalt, compacted snow and lumps of ice give us the opportunity to test the car's handling, suspension and drivetrain. The new Nissan X-Trail is not just an updated crossover, it is, as many auto critics say, an all-terrain Qashqai. It is more spacious and safer.

On snowy roads, the X-Trail works best in economy mode. In it, the gas pedal is damped, which makes the response to pressing more careful and smooth. The car is also equipped with an Eco mode, but it is not so easy to find: it is hidden near the headlight washers and the stabilization activation button.

Nissan engineers said that they tried to combine both Chinese softness and European handling in the Russian version of this crossover. The crossover is more pleasant to drive on paved surfaces than its predecessor. However, the Nissan X-Trail’s suspension is a bit unsuitable for rough terrain and country roads – it’s a bit harsh. On a road with large potholes, the suspension rebounds very loudly, and on small stones it vibrates.

If we take the test car, then literally after a few hours the ceiling began to “walk” due to severe shaking; it was not possible to fix this annoying problem manually. This can be explained by the fact that the production of X-Trail at the plant in the Northern capital of our country began quite recently. No such problems were observed in the other test machine. The car rides much better on studded tires; on them, the noise from the road is not heard so clearly. The manufacturer plans to additionally build in seals between the threshold and the edge of the door so that the latter does not get dirty and increase rear view visibility.

Powertrain of the new X-Trail

The new version of this car is built on the platform of its older brother, but received new power units and an upgraded transmission. Also, the new Nissan X-Trail received 210 mm ground clearance (ground clearance). However, such changes led to some disastrous gains: due to the increased wheelbase and straight front overhang, the car's geometry deteriorated significantly.

On the highway, this crossover holds up well, but sometimes the bumper catches large bumps.

The advantage of the Nissan X-Trail over the Qashqai is the so-called “descent assist assistant”.

It is this that makes it possible to pass icy slopes and snow mounds safely and without changing the trajectory. The manufacturer recommends passing large and dangerous obstacles in the “Lock” mode. Its function is to lock the differential between the wheels: thus, half of the traction is transmitted to the rear axle.

It is difficult to pass obstacles without the modes turned on; this is prevented by a fairly stiff suspension. As soon as the car catches the diagonal hanging, it begins to brake, and if you press on the gas, it begins to engage the drive and driven discs. The rear camera is equipped with washers that automatically remove dirt from it, and the “all-round view” function ensures the most precise maneuvering.

Car power

If we compare the Nissan X-Trail with its closest competitor, namely the Qashqai, there is a faster response to the response of the accelerator and CVT buttons. Acceleration is not as stretched out, although the car is a little heavier; it accelerates to 100 km/h 1.5 seconds faster. It also needs to be said about the required effort on the steering wheel - it has become more precise. The new version of the Nissan X-Trail with a 2.5-liter gasoline engine has become much more powerful - 171 horsepower versus 144.

The operation of the CVT transmission has become more stable and faster, the car has become more responsive to pressing the gas pedal. The updated suspension has become softer, and the configuration of the car has also become denser. In general, the new X-Trail has become seamless. The difference between the chassis of the new and old Nissan is small, as is the engine consumption: now 11 liters of 92 gasoline are enough for a 2.5-liter engine at 100 km/h. Refueling with such fuel became possible only due to the engine with distributed injection.

In the previous version of the X-Trail, the diesel version was equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the gasoline versions had a CVT. The new version of the crossover with a diesel engine now comes only with a six-speed manual. Models with a variator equipped with a reinforced plate are also produced, but there are no plans to officially sell such versions in Russia.

The volume of the updated diesel engine is very modest by crossover standards, 1.6 liters with a power of 150 horsepower. The maximum torque has not changed: it remains the same as 320 Newton meters. It should be noted that the new X-Trail has become a little faster and more ergonomic, shorter, and increased visibility from the windshield.

The engineers managed to both complement the Nissan and recreate a new version of the X-Trail almost from scratch. The updated car began to look more modern and became more comfortable. However, it should also be noted that he has lost his individuality. In defense, we can only say that it fully meets all the requirements of city residents for crossovers. First of all, X-Trail will be loved by those for whom constant forays into the countryside or nature are the norm.

Review of Nissan X Trail T32: interior, exterior, engine

This article provides fairly detailed information about the latest generation Russian-assembled Nissan X-Trail in the T32 body - information about the engine and transmission, trim levels. Technical characteristics are also given, a short review is made, and the advantages and disadvantages of the model are described.

Released generations

The famous Japanese crossover Nissan X-Trail has gained considerable popularity in Russia; it is characterized by high reliability, excellent technical characteristics, and exquisite design.

During the production of the brand, three generations have changed; the very first cars were first produced in their homeland, in Japan.

The history of Ixtrail begins in September 2000, when the car was shown at the Paris Motor Show.

The 1st generation Nissan X Trail in the T30 body is based on the Nissan FF-S platform; from the very beginning of its production, the model was produced in 4x4 versions and with front-wheel drive.

The second generation Ixtrail T31 was first presented in Geneva in 2007, and the basis of this car was the Nissan C platform.

The third version of the crossover appeared in the fall of 2013, and in December of the same year the car began to be sold in Japan.

The new car in the T32 body is based on the Nissan CMF; assembly of this model is carried out in many countries around the world, including the Russian Federation.

Nissan X-Trail T32 Russian assembly

The “Japanese” is produced at the Nissan plant, built in St. Petersburg, the first Ixtrail in Russia rolled off the assembly line in November 2009, and the factory workers began production of the 3rd generation in December 2014.

A car in the T32 body is offered to Russians:

  • in seven trim levels;
  • in versions with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive;
  • with two petrol and one diesel engines;
  • with mechanical 6-speed Gearbox and variator (CVT).

Nissan Qashqai and Ixtrail in the latest versions are often compared with each other, since the models are similar in many ways, and from a distance they can even be confused.

But in previous generations, the cars were completely different in design, and they had few common parts.

The new Nissan X Trail 3 is larger than the Qashqai, it is longer, taller and wider, and has a 76 mm longer wheelbase.

But not only is the crossover good for its large size, it is also presented in a fairly rich equipment, and on its “board” even in the base there are many different options.

Engines and transmission

The crossover's line of power units includes two gasoline internal combustion engines:

  • QR25DE, 2.5 l, 171 l. With.;
  • MR20DD, 2.0 l 144 l. With.

Both engines are 4-cylinder, 16-valve, injection. When driving around the city, there is no big difference in the volume of the internal combustion engine, cars with both engines start equally vigorously, the dynamics are good and smooth.

Diesel Nissan X Trail - 1.6 liter, Y9M model, turbocharged, 130 hp. s., four-cylinder in-line.

By the way, the diesel engine is only paired with a manual gearbox with all-wheel drive; the 2.5 liter QR25DE internal combustion engine is equipped with a CVT, also with a 4x4 transmission.

The MR20DD engine is available in all variants: manual transmission and CVT, 2WD and 4WD.

The Nissan X Trail CVT received seven virtual gears, and the driver now has the ability to manually brake with the engine.

X-Tronic works on the principle of a classic torque converter automatic transmission - when accelerating and switching to another, higher gear, it drops the speed slightly.

Trunk and interior

Compared to the previous generation T31, the Nissan X Trail T32 has increased in size, and the trunk has accordingly grown in size; its volume in the new model is 497 liters.

The second-row seats move forward and backward and the backrests recline, which can increase the luggage area slightly.

The rear door is equipped with an electric drive for opening the lock (hands-free system); the luggage compartment has two shelves that allow you to place cargo in two tiers.

The Hands-Free system works this way: if the owner of the car has the car key in his pocket, all he has to do is put his hand to the trunk lock, and the electric drive will work and the door will open automatically.

On the rear sofa, passengers should not feel cramped: there is so much space in the back that even a person two meters tall will have a small space above their head, and their knees will not rest against the front seat.

There is no tunnel in the middle of the rear floor, and all three rear passengers are equally comfortable.

The finishing in the car's interior does not cause any complaints: the assembly is of high quality, the materials used are of good quality. The doors open to an angle of 77 degrees, which ensures comfortable entry and exit of passengers.

Nissan X Trail specifications

The Russian-assembled Ixtrail T32 has very good off-road qualities even in the 4x2 version; good cross-country ability is ensured thanks to a ground clearance of 210 mm.

The car has a classic crossover suspension: MacPherson strut at the front and a multi-link design at the rear axle.

The car is equipped with all disc brakes, an ABS anti-lock braking system and an EBD brake distributor.

On the T32, depending on the configuration, 17th and 18th wheel rims are installed, and the steering system provides the ability to change the steering force.

The wheelbase is 2705 mm, the curb weight depends on the modification of the crossover, and ranges from 1445 to 1637 kg.

The maximum permissible weight of a loaded vehicle is 2130 kg, the vehicle’s carrying capacity is 435 kg.

The length of the new Nissan X Trail is 4640 and 1820 mm width, the height is measured in two values: with roof rails it is 1715 mm, without roof rails it is 1700 mm.

Nissan X-Trail fuel consumption may vary depending on the type of transmission, engine, wheel drive (2WD or 4WD).

In the basic 4x2 version with the MR20DD internal combustion engine and manual transmission 6, the car consumes per 100 km:

  • in the city - 11.2 l;
  • on the highway - 7.3 l;
  • in mixed mode highway/city – 8.6 liters.

According to the passport data, fuel consumption does not exceed 11.3 liters (12.5 liters CVT), the minimum consumption per “hundred” is 4.8 liters – on the highway for a car with a diesel engine and a “mechanics”.

Nissan X Trail configuration

In total, the Russian-assembled Ixtrail is available in seven trim levels, the simplest of which is the XE version.

The basic version includes:
