The Nissan Murano is a popular Japanese mid-size crossover, assembled in the United States, Japan and Russia. The car was developed at the Los Angeles branch of the Nissan automaker and named after the Italian island. First versions
The first versions of the Murano model were intended exclusively for the North American market, so its design was developed taking into account the requirements of US consumers. The car was presented in the same country - at the 2002 New York Auto Show. The car was assembled on the basis of the Nissan FF-L and was equipped with a 3.5-liter engine producing 245 hp. With.

Second generation crossover
At the end of 2007, Nissan showed the new second generation Nissan Murano in Los Angeles. Sales of the car, whose style became more similar to the Rogue model, started a year later. The interior of the crossover has noticeably changed, the rear part has been updated, and the finishing materials have become more expensive and of higher quality.
The vehicle's engine remained unchanged - although its power increased from 245 to 265 hp. p., a variator was still used as a gearbox for Russian configurations. Foreign modifications were produced with a 6-band automatic transmission. And for assembly, the Nissan D platform was used - the same as for the release of the Teana II model.
In 2010, the model underwent a slight restyling, receiving a number of changes:

- updated center console;

Unlike the previous generation, the second generation of the car was already produced in 4 trim levels. Latest generation model
Produced since 2016 in St. Petersburg, the new Murano has received an improved chassis, ground clearance increased by several millimeters and a wider track. Other differences include improved aerodynamics and visibility, reduced weight, comfortable seats and slightly greater knee room for second-row passengers. In Russia, the new Nissan Murano was sold in 4 standard trim levels. The Nissan Murano crossover in the Z52 body entered the Russian market only in 2016, although the official premiere of the new product took place a couple of years ago. The lion's share of the time that passed from the moment of debut to the start of Russian sales was spent on the so-called adaptation of the car to our conditions. During the tests, optimal chassis settings were selected, which significantly reduced sway and body roll. The suspension design itself has not changed: MacPherson struts are used at the front, and an independent multi-link at the rear.
The new version of the 2016-2017 Nissan Murano is based on the Nissan D platform, which is also used for and. The body has high strength and torsional resistance, surpassing the pre-reform power frame in these indicators. With the change of generations, the overall dimensions of the crossover were adjusted: the length increased to 4898 mm (+38 mm), width - to 1915 mm (+30 mm). The height of the SUV, on the contrary, decreased slightly – from 2720 to 1691 mm (-29 mm). The wheelbase remained unchanged - 2825 mm.
The range of power units of the model traditionally does not indulge in variety. There are only two engines available for the Russian Murano, and both of them are well known to us from the Pathfinder. The first engine is a six-cylinder old-timer VQ35DE with a displacement of 3.5 liters, tuned to produce 249 hp. and 325 Nm. The second unit is a hybrid installation formed by a tandem of a QR25DER 2.5 liter petrol four (234 hp, 330 Nm) and a synchronous motor (20 kW, 160 Nm). There is only one gearbox - a continuously variable Xtronic chain variator with a torque converter.
The crossover with a petrol V6 is offered in front- and all-wheel drive configurations. The hybrid Nissan Murano Z52 has a 4WD configuration by default. All-wheel drive is implemented using a multi-plate clutch installed in front of the rear axle. The clutch's resistance to overheating, decent ground clearance (184 mm) and good geometry allow the Japanese crossover to confidently attack off-road areas.
With similar traction characteristics of a conventional V6 and a hybrid installation, the latter saves significantly better fuel. In mixed mode, the difference in fuel consumption is 1.6 liters (9.9 versus 8.3 liters). At the same time, the acceleration dynamics of both versions with the all-wheel drive version of the Nissan Murano 3.5 are comparable.
